I honestly think the 49ers will want it more because they have not really had a signature win this year unless you count the cowboys or Bengals and to get this kind of win will give them the confidence to beat anyone
They didn't beat the Cowboys though. Their signature win was beating the then-undefeated Lions (I believe at Ford field as well)

I don't know why the 9ers would want to coast through this game. They have an opportunity to test their mettle against a playoff caliber team in a schedule that hasn't given them much of a challenge. They'll be gearing up for a playoff push and the Steelers are a great team to test their readiness.

If Ben cant go and isnt ready to play next Monday against the Niners he wont go it's that simple. They have held him out before in a number of games throughout his career because he was not healthy enough to play. If he is unable to go next week and the doctors tell him and the Steelers it's not safe to play then he probably wont go. This division title is still well up for grabs too as well. So I wouldnt sit here and say it's very unlikely the Steelers still have a chance of getting it. If the Ravens are capable of <crapping> the bed against a team as bad as Jacksonville they can certainly do it again at least one more time which is all it will take against either the Chargers,Browns,or Bengals who are all much much better then the Jags...
You just LOVE to bring up that JAX game don't you? Didn't the Jags come back and almost beat your team....

Didn't those Jags almost beat you guys. I know in the end you guys got the win and we didn't, but you guys didn't play much better. You guys are just as capable to lose to a bad team as we are. Plus our offense is getting better as we were dealing with players that didn't play last year or much last year with the lockout. Our #2 WR Smith, Dickson, Pitta, Q2. Don't know if you noticed, but our offense has been getting better every game. I don't think if we played them at this point, that we would lose to them.

For as much as you love bringing up the Jaguars game...... what do you have to say about the Ravens beating the Colts in dominating fashion when the Steelers were just BARELY to squeak by them, and that was with Curtis Painter of all people!

Big Ben is tough and odds are he will play, and to be honest they are going to probably dominate the 49ers. Wallace, Sanders, and Brown are all speedsters so locking down with their corners like they did to us won't be happening.

I don't think they'll dominate the 49ers. Ben playing would be a big bonus for the Steelers, no question, but the key to the game IMO is how well SF can control the clock with the ground game.

Well, at least there is ZERO chance that San Fran lays down for this game (not my thought, but others thought that was a possibility). But, now, with San Fran losing to AZ and the Saints winning, the #2 spot in the NFC is still up for grabs!

Pitt may POSSIBLY be without Harrison, Pouncey and/or Ben. In addition, they will be traveling to the west coast to meet a pissed off San Fran team. This should be interesting. First things first, obviously. Ravens must win, but this will be a HUGE game!

Well now the Bye Week isn't Guaranteed and so now not only will the Steelers see a angry 49ers team, but now the 49ers have something to play for in order to keep the bye week. Saints and 49ers are 10-3, and one more slip up by the 49ers will give the Saints the 2 Seed. So Go 49ers and Jim, feel free to shake Tomlin's hand hard as well.

And the Ravens used Palomolu's head to mop up the stadium in the season opener, then went ahead and embarrassed the Steelers in front of the yinzer nation at ketchup stadium. Any way you slice it, the Ravens control their own destiny while the Steelers sweat it out hoping someone else flinches.

Do you honestly want me to sit here and give you a ton of credit for beating a team that is now 0-13 and had Dan Orlovsky starting at QB who is 0-10 I believe now lifetime when he starts in the NFL?? If anything he might be worse then Painter. The Ravens have done what I expected them to do the last 2 weeks and that is take care of both the Browns and Colts without much of a problem at all. Now the real tests start for both the Steelers and the Ravens next week when they both have to go to the West Coast and win both of their games in Frisco and San Diego. Who is going to slip next week is the big big question?? Will it be the Ravens against a hot Chargers team and Phillip Rivers that seems to be finding it's way the last few games and scoring a lot of points on offense. Or will it be the Steelers who are banged up some and are going to be facing a desperate 49ers team who is now going to need to win that game next week in a big way against the Steelers to get the number 2 seed over the Saints after losing in Arizona yesterday. Should be a fun interesting 24 hours next Sunday night going into Monday night...

Almost came back is the key word. The last time I looked at the NFL Standings online or in the paper there is no column for games that teams "ALMOST" won or "ALMOST" lost. The Steelers got up 17-0 on the Jags in the first half and pretty dominated them the whole half and just went to sleep the entire 2nd half and luckily it didnt cost them. The Ravens absolutely were terrible against the Jags the entire game and didnt get a first down until about 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter so that is the difference between when the Steelers played the Jags and when the Ravens played the Jags.

The point I keep making is the reason the Ravens need to keep winning to finish out the season and cant afford a slip is because they lost to horrible teams like the Jags and the Seahawks. If you guys "almost" win even one of those games you basically would have the division and probably at the very worst a number 2 seed in the playoffs locked up at this point and time...

Man, thank goodness the Ravens have no injuries so they're not labeled as "banged up" as well. Oh wait....

Steelers can't slip up either... Again, everything you post about the Ravens is applicable to the Steelers as well.
Well I was referring to Roethlisberger not being 100 percent more then anybody. Aside from Ben and Woodley the Steelers are pretty healthy overall as a team with no major injuries. However, the Harrison suspension if there is one could make things a lot tougher as well. The Steelers have found a way to overcome key injuries and other circumstances in the past and win big games so looks like they are going to need to come out and do it one more time...

I know that but the point is had the Ravens not lost to bad teams they would have the division wrapped up at this point. I just feel you cant lose to teams like the Jags and Seattle during the course of the regular season without it coming back to haunt you in a big way at some point and time. It's kind of like the Ravens losing to the Bengals last season in Cincinnati in week 2. It was the only bad loss the Ravens had the entire season and it ended up costing them the division last year because it's a game they never should have lost...

Harrison should get suspended, so that's gonna hurt your team more than anything... Ben, if he plays, will be a statue and the 49ers will be ready to strike, unlike the hapless Browns. It should be a good game that really could go either way.

I agree with that analysis but I still dont fear the 49ers and think they are as good as a lot of people are making them out to be...Their offense will struggle to score points on the Steelers defense...I dont know if Ben will be a statue either. He played with a busted foot last year against the Ravens defense and still was able to move around in that game and make plays on the run. So I never underestimate Ben and the things he can do even when he is playing injured.

High ankle sprains are totally different animals... it won't be nearly as easy to move around. But yeah, if the 49ers can't run the ball, it won't really matter. It's gonna be a 16-12 kind of game. First team to get a TD probably wins.

I wouldnt qualify winning the game with 8 seconds left on the clock with a 92 yard drive as "embarrassing" the Steelers at Heinz Field as you like to put it. The game was close the entire 2nd half and especially the entire 4th quarter and could have went either way. So to sit there and say they embarrassed the Steelers that last meeting is just an ignorant stupid statement on your part. The Ravens offense just happened to make the clutch plays in the end and the Steelers simply didnt. A third meeting between these two teams could result in the same kind of circumstances having to happen at the end of the game for either team to win...

In the normal order of things, yes. But McCoy put the ball under his arm like a RB so that may be Harrison's only out in this. But at the very minimum I expect a substantial fine. Goodell and his "commission" are not an exact science, so Harrison's destiny is in the hands of the dictator and could go either way.

Embarrassed because they lost at home, to the Ravens. If you do not consider a loss at home to a team that most Steelers fans consider inferior embarrssing, then I guess I am wrong. I would consider any loss at home to be embarrassing. That is neither "ignorant" or "stupid"

I dont consider the Ravens inferior they are far far from it. Losing to a team like the Colts or Vikings who are 0-13 and 2-11 would be embarrassing losing to the Ravens at home who are one of the best teams in the AFC is far from it...

Since the 49ers lost and the Saints are on their tails this might add fire to the niners.
Maybe, but I don't think this is a matter of how much fight is in the dog (not that Steelers lack it, in any case). The Steelers will shut down their defense and Pitt's superior offense will get the job done, in all likelihood.
