Who Else Here Thinks Suggs Is Or Will Be The Face Of The Ravens..

83 posts in this topic

Who else here thinks SUGGS is or will be the New Face of the RAVENS FRANCHISE. He certainly has the popularity, attitude and respect from whole team.

After Lewis and Reed, Suggs will be the longest active player on the Roster. Suggs is one of the first players i think of when i think of RAVENS defense and that's saying alot considering how many great players we have, its insane if you think about it. I love our front line, LBers, and im really loving our Secondary and no one outside of the RAVENS fans even realize how good our Secondary has become. Lets keep it that way,lol

I personally think he will or is the new face of the RAVENS. Also i think he has a good chance of being the Defensive Player Of The Year. No one comes close to what he has been doing this yr on Defense and with the last few weeks of football left, i think he will continue to get more sacks , force fumble and heck even an int or 2,lol

Who else do you think has a chance to be Defensive player of the yr???

As much as I love suggs, I think it will be ray rice
Im talking more about Defense, but as much as i love Rice, he does pretty bad in interviews, Suggs does nothing but entertain and he is very educated. He knows his stuff. But that besides the point.

Ill be honest when i think of the RAVENS, i think Defense first as a whole , then i think of Defensive players. Rice would be 4th inline, just my opinion.

Suggs will definitely be the face of the defense. Whether defense remains the face of the Ravens after Ray and Ed retire will remain to be seen but Suggs will, in my mind, be at least co-face of the Ravens with Rice.

Actually when I think of the "new face" of the Ravens, I automatically think Suggs and Ngata. It's been Ray and Ed for so long, but I think defense will always be king in Baltimore, and Suggs and Ngata are always the two guys I think of when I think Ravens defense.

Suggs always keeps his tongue in cheek when he interviews. However, I wouldn't go as far as to say he acts the part of the intelectual, but he does seem to say what everyone is always thinking.

As far as Rice goes he always speaks from his heart, and I really like the kid. Rice, and Suggs have learned a lot from Ray Lewis, and I think the leadership of the future will be by committee.

I think it's Ray Rice & Suggs... I say this because at one point the Ravens franchise was all about defense but I believe now they seem to be moving to a more balanced attack...

i think the real question is....will defense remain the face of the ravens
i think in the begining of the season you might say we were headed to become a big offensive team, but with the ways our rookies and young players on d have been playing i doubt it.

Oh i agree but i have seen alot of interviews with Rice this yr and honestly i feel embarrassed for him. The one that was really bad was when Skip bayless and company were interviewing him. Oh and Skip was actually being very nice to Ray, i think he could see he was struggling.

That might be a good thing, Because our Defense will ALWAYS be good, in my opinion. So that would mean our Offense would be the face of the RAVENS, so that would mean our Offense would be like the Pats,Saints and Packers imo. Hope that made sense, lol

And thats what im hoping for, i like it when we throw and Joe is actually starting to really impress me with leading his throw so the wrers can catch on the run, Boldin's specialty , And he is unstoppable when he has time and isnt pressured, The only thing that imo is holding his passer rating down is Dropped balls that are very, very catchable. Lee Evans is almost 100% and Smith is only getting better. And of course you cant leave out our 2 great T.Es, They have great hands, they only need to work on Blocking to become Elite.

Going out on a limb here but I am gonna say Flacco will be the new face of the Ravens. (less the "Joe-manchu " )

That said there is not reason to believe the Ravens cant or wont have multiple leaders, and that T-Sizzle would not be one of those leaders.

I don't think so. I think he'll only be the face of the defense once Reed and Lewis retire. (even though Ngata is the better player)

But Rice will be the face of the franchise, or maybe even Flacco if we get an OC who would be on the same page as him.

Suggs is a bit on the old side to become the face of the franchise. Im thinking it will be Ray Rice. If Flacco can get it together on a consistent basis it will be the both of them...similar to westbrook/McNabb in their heyday.

For some reason i see Flacco being the Face of the Franchise more than Rice, If you had to pick who would stay on this team, who would you pick. My Vote would be Flacco to stay without a doubt, He's not elite but to me he is pretty dam good, i think he is top 5. And i wouldnt say that last yr, he has evolved and he still is. You can see a big difference in Joe this yr from last, heck there is a big difference in him from Week 1 to week 14. He is more relaxed and to me he has some kind of unspoken leadership, like they are all counting on him. I can see him have control of this team without it being noticeable.

This team isn't all about leaders anymore, John Harbaugh did a great job with that, this team is a family now. There will be certain players that make the majority of the calls, but everyone will feel like they belong in the Raven's locker room. From the outside looking in, Terrell Suggs will be the most out spoken member of the Ravens but I don't see him being the "face" of the franchise. That will have to go to Flacco.

I doubt that will ever happen. People outside of Baltimore think way too little of Flacco. It will always be, "But he has Lewis, Suggs, Ngata, Rice, Boldin, etc." Somehow the presence of other great players on their team doesn't diminish great quarterbacks unless their name is Flacco.

Yeah statistically, this might be Flacco's worst year. But actually watching him, I've been impressed. Especially with how clutch hes been. Everyone remembers Pitt, but hes been consistently clutch this year.

Naturally if a QB and RB are both good, the QB will always be the more popular player. But like I said, I don't think Flacco will be able to take that next step in to a top 10 QB as long as Cam Cameron is the OC. (yes I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point)

I said this earlier, but Flacco will probably never put up stats like "elite qbs" (especially if Cam is here) because if you look at the majority of his touchdowns, even last year when he put up 25, they all came from more than 10 yards out. Conversely, Brady, Brees, Manning, Rodgers, Ryan, Stafford - these guys put up double digit touchdowns from 10 yards or less. We run the ball in the redzone almost exclusively (why Cam is so predictable I'll never know) so Joe doesn't get "easy TDs" like these other guys will.

Yeah, Cam is one of worst goal line play-callers you'll see.

Flacco. Disrespected around the league, often overlooked, and better than experts want to admit

Your absolutely right about that, Flacco should have atleast 8 more TDs than he has now, And all of the TDs became FGs.

Have you noticed that they have been making it a point to not bring him up at all. He hasnt been throwing INT. so they cant complain about him. You dont see them bringing up Flacco's multiple game winning drives but that was all the fad last yr because it was about Matt Ryan. You dont see them talking about the bad season Ryan is having. The Sports channels can be so dam Bias.

Actually the other day I heard on some sports talk station (local so I don't know who it is) that it isn't all Matt Ryan's fault, or even the majority Ryan's fault - apparently Tony Gonzalez and Roddy White are getting older, and Julio Jones is still a young receiver who is developing. It was some local geek talking fantasy numbers, but still, I seriously couldn't think of anything at that point. I've come to accept that nobody outside of Baltimore will ever put Joe in the same class as these guys, no matter what he does. Maybe it's because we're the Ravens, maybe it's because all of these guys are from big time programs and Joe came out of Delaware - I don't know. But I don't care, as long as we're winning, and as long as Ravens fans, or people who claim to be Ravens fans, talk about Joe with the respect he's earned by helping lead us to the playoffs three times and beating the Steelers the way he has this year.
