How did we lose to this team? Even on our worst day, how?
There's really only one way to explain it : Tebow made us lose.

I dont think you can judge a qb on his rookie year, plenty of the greats have had slow starts to their careers
Yep, never judge a QB by his rookie season.

Because we couldn't get any first downs in the first half.

I have heard Jacksonville say that Blaine Gabbert will be their QB of the future so maybe we'll see if he shows anything after having off-season workout and going through Training Camp as Starter. Gabbert should have just stayed and not declared for the 2011 Draft and waited for the 2012 Draft.

Jacksonville needs to add talent everywhere on their team and if Gabbert is going to be successful, they should try to land Justin Blackmon but most likely the Rams and Vikings have picks 2 and 3 locked up so Jacksonville will most likely be picking 4th and Blackmon should be off to Minnesota or St. Louis depending on who doesn't take Matt Kalil.

Unreal that we lost to this piss poor team, absolutely unreal. Sweet game plan Cam, and sweet blocking Oline.

I also believe that team is getting worse as the season goes on. They played better earlier in the season imo. But ya Cam called a bad game.

I know its going to sound like an excuse, but its really not the same team that played us. They have lost 3 or 4 CBs including their top 2 guys since they played us as well as some other defensive line guys. They also just fired their coach and are playing in a very tough environment as opposed to home. We still should have won that game though (even with the terrible offiiciating)

8 carries by Ray Rice. When at the time they had a top 10 passing defense and a bottom 10 run defense.

Remember too, he lost out on having a full offseason, which hurt him. Both Jake Locker and Christian Ponder sat for a while during the season, giving them time to learn their offenses - and Locker is probably being mentored by one of the best, in my opinion - Hasselbeck is the perfect example of a guy with average physical talent that became a pro-bowl qb through preparation and dedication. Andy Dalton has the benefit of playing on a team with a lot of weapons around him and a tremendous defense. And Cam Newton is just a special talent in general. Even these guys have taken their lumps. Gabbert had the misfortune of being like Sam Bradford, a qb with a lot of skill in throwing the ball but not "elite" physical talent, so if he doesn't have receivers, a good running game, etc. he can't "make things happen" like a Newton or a Locker, or, dare I say it, Tim Tebow. He doesn't really have anybody there to mentor him in how to play the game - IDK what Luke McCown could have taught him (by the end of this season Gabbert will have had more starts than McCown has had in his career - all 8 years of it). And Gabbert has had one of the toughest schedules to play - Cinci, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Houston twice, San Diego, and he's going to have to play Tennesse and Atlanta. So either teams with dominant defenses or teams with high powered offenses. Not a great position for any rookie to be in. If this was 2013, and he was still doing this, then there would be an issue.

hes got one of the best running attacks in the league, there goes that excuse

Not to justify. But since our game against them the number of guys they've placed on IR is unbelievable, including their top 3 corners. I really believe we got their best (and last game) of the season against us before the ship completely sailed off to sea.

That plus our play calling. Cam wanted to light it up on National tv and got away from our core. Then he failed to adjust.

What I meant was if people shut down the Jags running game, Gabbert can't do anything. You can't put the game on his shoulders and win, so if you stuff the run and force him to beat you, you can beat them. We lost because MJD carried the ball 30 times for 105 yards, wore the defense down, and kept the offense off the field. If we'd been able to check MJD, and run the ball ourselves to maybe get a lead, and forced Gabbert to have to throw to beat us, I don't think he would have. The best running game in the world doesn't matter if you're behind and too pressed for time to use it.

Gabbert's suckitude is laughable.

Guy should've gone in the 5th round. Google "Blaine Gabbert Mizzou stats" and you'll find that he threw a whopping 16 TDs in his final year, to go a long with 9 picks. 16 TDs and 9 Picks in a SPREAD offense.

The guy's physical tools should've had him drafted in the 5th round at best. His pathetic production at Missouri should've been enough of a sign that the guy's a bum that would've gone undrafted if not for his frame and "potential". Seriously, Chase Daniel's stats blow his out of the water and they're playing in the same system. Gabbert got drafted because he's 6'5", 235 lbs and had "upside" due to above average athleticism/arm strength. Mike Ditka talked about paying no attention to "measurables" (while being interviewed about Tebow) during the draft and going for Football Players. Maybe if the Jags had done that they wouldn't have wasted a 1st and 2nd on one of the most inept QBs in recent memory.

I don't like throwing rookie QBs under the bus after their first season, but Gabbert has been disgustingly inept. Gabbert finished the first half 3/6 for 21 yards, 17 of which came one one play just before the end of the half when the Falcons were playing the softest coverage you'll see. He put up around 41 yards before the Falcons starters were pulled. He gift-wrapped a ton of points and delivered them straight to the Falcons. It annoys me how scared of contact he is and how little awareness he shows in the pocket. Numerous times I've seen him lower his head and tuck the ball away with pass rushers nowhere near him.
