I find it funny that he's developed into a pass rusher because Oz drafted him as a pure run stopper.

It would be even more ironic if it turns out he can't play the run.

LOL I think he'll be able to. Its just that he's sitting behind a guy in Redding who excels at that. Its a lot easier to send McPhee out there as a situational pass rusher and let his raw talent loose on the QB.

The ability to stop the run will develop with his familiarity of the scheme.

McPhee is 280 right now correct? I wonder how he would hold up at the point of attack in the run game as a 34 end. Right now his biggest asset is the fact interior lineman cant handle how quick he is off the ball and how fast his pass rush moves are. If he does need to bulk up hopefully he doesn't lose any quickness.

McPhee is a boss on the ravens line but does not get the national attention like Miller and Smith do. I still can not beilive he was a 5th round pick, If i said it once i said it 1000 times IN OZ WE TRUST

No to DROY (IMO that's either V.Miller or P.Peterson (punts included as impact )...... there are other impress rookies like JJ Watt, R.Kerrigan , P.Taylor..

Redding will hold down his starting spot the rest of this season, but McPhee has earned significant time and will continue to play more and more.....

After Today he should reach 8 sacks with no problem... he now has 6 sacks....

Who knows what the future holds, he may make a Pro Bowl, I hope he develops into a double-digit sack artist......

Not really I remember Mel Kiper talking about how he had some huge number of sacks in Junior College and was expected to do the same at Mississippi State but only collect 7 total in Division 1 competition..... I can recall Mel Kiper being super excited on his podcast about the possibilities that McPhee's motor gets him going in Baltimore ( Kiper is a Raven Fan after all )

I say in 2 years after McPhee gets more expierence, learns more and gets a little stronger he could be our dwight freeny. Very excited about him
Some how when I look at him I don't see Dwight Freeney, I see strong guy in mold of a Justin Tuck........ But either way the kid is impressive and I hope he continues to develop

McPhee would need two sacks a game from here on out to have a shot at DROY. Eclipsing Von Miller in sacks is his only shot. Peterson has return TDs (not sure if they really count for a defensive award) but he's been bad in coverage.

I was thinking more like Tuck too. He looks like he plays the run pretty well too though when he's been in on running downs. Let's not forget last week when he got Gore in the backfield. It's a matter of just getting the time on rushing downs.

The Pernellephant was a beast today. Should of had 3 but 2 is fine by me! He will definitely be starting next year.

Dude can't be blocked one on one..he's so violent with his hands and his first step is ridiculous. ...

He's going to be getting double covered more often and that only opens up things for other pass rushers like Paul Kruger, Art Jones, Suggs, get in on the action and really diversifies your front 7 defensive scheme.

He's a diamond in the rough.

He should reach 8 sacks next week against the Colts, he could very well have double digit sacks by the end of the year.

I'm not gonan rule double digits out, but he is going to need a strong finish. Of course, we play San Diego, Cleveland again, and Indy, all of which have had horrid offensive line problems. He'll need to finish strong, and I mean strong. But I'm not gonna rule it out.

The great thing about McPhee is his upper body strength. He can shove around lineman and does a good job of bringing down the ball carrier once he gets there. That and his explosive first step make him incredibly dangerous. With the two-sack game today he's certainly well within range of an 8-sack season.

No, he's a BUM. - BullRush
Did BullRush really say that?

I remember all the people that didn't think he'd do anything this year. There were analysts that said he'd NEVER be a pass rusher in the NFL.

Good job McPhee.

That he does. He is a sure tackle. He never misses the QB.

I never thought he had great upperbody strength, but he is a solid tackler. I always thought his lowerbody strength and quickness was more dominant.

He should be getting mentioned for ROTY, he deserves it

What a stud they found again in the later rounds.....who says those 5th, 6th, 7th round picks are worthless? haha

2 more sacks, 6 on the year...hells yeah, now our defense has multiple guys who can get double digit sacks, thats what we were missing for years

McPhee is a stud. He is the future with Ravens. He will be a star in Baltimore.

He isn't ready to replace Redding THIS year but the future is his.

No way he will be DROY, he doesn't get the snaps. But he will be better next year than he was this year.

McPhee reminds me of Webb a little at a different position. Webb's rookie year, he just made plays. He as just always around and it seems like that's how McPhee is.
