If we had replaced all the players on the Ravens whose heads have been called for on this board , Ozzie would have to come on here to invite us all to tryouts so he could find enough warm bodies to field a team.

It's somebody new every week. Unreal.
Lol. Then none of us would last on the team because the current players would be the ones on forums criticizing us to be cut every play lol

Be like that movie The Replacements with Keanu Reeves..

Hey, this just in. If you're promoting the idea of releasing Billy Cundiff, you're "LAUGHABLE"! Don't believe me? Read Kevin Van Valkenburg's column. What a ridiculous thread.....

I think you're letting your emotions get the best of you. It's just one kick. When we need Cundiff to shine he will. Remember how many of you wanted Torrey Smith cut after the pre-season?
I agree the threadstarter overreacted but its been more than one kick.

some fans are way too emoitonal and prisoners of the moment. bad weather...misses happen...you think it would be smart to cut our kicker at the end of the season right before playoff time....really...........come on

So if I understand half of what I read on the forums today we should dismiss the entire Ravens squad coaches and players amidst a winning season and replace them with......let's say the Packers. Billy can't kick, Joe can't throw, Anquan can't catch, Lewis can't play, and Cam Cameron can't coach. At least that is the jist of it, and you would be hard pressed to be able to get away from all the negativity on here (unless you frequent the news forum.)

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

Don't you have other things in your life worthy of the attention of your malcontent? Can't you be happy we are playing winning football? My goodness, you would think that we look like Indy this year and have a completely defeated over-all record with all the whining, complaining, and negativity I read on a day to day basis.

If Ozzie and the front office listened to what I read from the fans then we wouldn't recognize a single soul from season to season and year to year. Thank God he doesn't.

This guy is getting worse by every week. He is absolutely NOTHING like he was last year, and definately is not living up to his contract. I knew it was not good to sign him for such a huge contract for a journeyman that wasnt picked up by anyone for 2years then once he has 1year, we sign him to +5m p/year contract. Billy needs to GO.

Slow down cowboy. I am not sure that cutting is the right answer here. He has done a really good job so far this season, less the last couple of games.I think that is a bit harsh.

I just can't understand why he misses 99% of kicks from the right hash... it makes no sense to me, and that needs to be fixed forthwith.

Can't he just like practice kicking every day from the right hash mark? I'm not too familiar of how kicker's practice goes but that would make the most sense to me.

Its hard to say whether he needs replacing... good kickers are hard to come by. We were spoiled with Stover. Look at Akers, he missed a few kicks last year and has been killing it this year. Even Hauschka looks decent this year and a few years ago he was horrible.

I suppose any journeyman that isnt paid +5mill a year with +80pct. Kicker. He is leading in missed field goals and is the 2nd highest paid kicker in NFL. Its not acceptable.

They could fix Billy's problem easily : Fit him with a special pair of glasses that make the goalposts appear to be 5 yds to the left of where they really are.

Doesn't matter too much to me. We're winning. He had 3 FG's against the 49ers. That helped us win. So say whatever you want to say about him.. But he's a good kicker, and we need him.

What does a younger kicker have to do with anything? He's, what 32 I think? That's still young for kickers, lol.

Good lord man, take a math class. 15/5 = 3, not 5. Doesn't do your credibility any good to just toss false information around. That's what's unacceptable to me, not a kicker missing a few kicks.

He is paid =+5 million dollar this year. He is guranteed 3mill with salary.
You are right though to an extent. We are paying him a lot to be ranked 27th in the league in percentage of field goals made. People say who would we replace him with; well whoever is out there. There are a lot of people who could kick around 27th in the league for way less. And part of the reason why we liked Cundiff and decided to pay him more was the touchbacks, but that is less important with the new kickoff rule.

Now those two field goals Cundiff missed at Cleveland were understandable. The conditions were terrible. It was evident in the pass game how difficult they were. And Cundiff has been money from 40 yards in. But the problem is, we need for 50 yard kicks. Thats why he gets paid that money, to make the toughest kicks for us. Here's to hoping things change and I think they will. Even the best kickers struggle. Gotta stick with them.

He's also third in the league in made FGs. 5 of his 8 misses have been from 50+ yards. If anyone is to blame, its our offense for not scoring more TDs and failing to get into better FG range.

Well let's look at this in context for this season. So far this season Billy has missed a field goal in 5 games he's kicked in - at Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Seattle, Cleveland, and St. Louis. In Cleveland he missed a 34 yarder and a 41 yarder. In Seattle he missed a 50 yarder and a 52 yarder. In St. Louis he missed a 51 yarder in the first quarter and a 51 yarder in the second quarter. In Pittsburgh he missed a 40 yarder. In Jacksonville he missed a 52 yarder. So of the 8 fieldgoals he's missed, five have been from beyond 50 yards, and two of them were in Cleveland where apparently the field was wet or otherwise in bad shape, I believe. Hey, I thought the knock on Cundiff HIS ENTIRE CAREER was that he didn't have a very strong leg. I bet if you look back over his entire career, most of his misses are from 50 yards or more out. We knew this last year, and that's why the FO brought in Shayne Graham. That's one of the reasons we let Stover go in favor of Haushka. It's the same argument people are making with Joe's apparent completion percentage problems. The biggest issue has not been that he's suddenly lost his accuracy, it's that this year he's being asked to complete a lot more deep passes, which are by definition less likely to be completed. Therefore, his numbers go down. I could just as easily say "Hey, Ray Rice sucks, because he didn't get at least 100 yards against a bad run defense in Jacksonville or a middle of the pack defense in Seattle". Of course, I'd be killed on here because people would rightly point out that Rice only had 8 carries in Jacksonville and 5 in Seattle, so unless he averaged 15-20 yards a carry, there's no way he'd approach those numbers. Why is it that when a popular player struggles, people are so quick to try to find answers other than it's the player who's just not producing, and when somebody who people are divided on or is less popular struggles, it's all that player's fault? Why not look at the specific problems within the game, and see if there's an obvious answer - like Billy has never had a strong leg and now we're asking him to magically develop one?

The Bottom LIne:

When our players are not put into position to succeed, it's hard for them to overcome.
