It's Time We Get Rid Of Billy Cundiff

187 posts in this topic

This guy is getting worse by every week. He is absolutely NOTHING like he was last year, and definately is not living up to his contract. I knew it was not good to sign him for such a huge contract for a journeyman that wasnt picked up by anyone for 2years then once he has 1year, we sign him to +5m p/year contract. Billy needs to GO.

I think you're letting your emotions get the best of you. It's just one kick. When we need Cundiff to shine he will. Remember how many of you wanted Torrey Smith cut after the pre-season?

Not just one, he's missed a few.

And its a little different still. Cundiff is a vet kicker, who just got paid big bucks. Didn't he make the pro bowl? Torrey was just a 2nd round pick. Slight difference there.

Billy better find his accuracy QUICK

or he will be gone, the Ravens should be looking for a replacement just in case, you cant go into the playoffs without a reliable kicker

its a shame man, i thought BIlly was the answer after Stover left

Last year we brung in Graham and Billy go really good after that. So maybe if we bring another kicker and put fire into him. We know he can kick.

He was pretty bad today but I expect that he'll put a lot of extra work into it this coming week in order to sort it out for games in which those points matter a lot.

Threads like these are the reason why we struggle on offense the guy had a bad game sure and he has missed his fair share of kicks this season. All of that i will agree with. The one thing that is important to any NFL kicker is confidence. It is obvious that he will be our kicker until the end of the season at least so support him or when we need him we are really gonna be in trouble. Trust me Kill this thread or kill our team in the playoffs.

you realize the wind was blowing at 25mph you try kicking a ball in the wind and see how often you make it
im surprised he was allowed to kick it. If 25 mph winds are heading toward you. I dont think any kicker can hit a field goal at that wind speed. Unless your kicker is on steriods.

I'm pretty sure Cundiff doesn't frequent these forums, but I do get what you're saying. We're sticking with him 'til the end of the season, so we should show faith in him.

Might not be a bad idea. Worked well last year after all lol

While I'm by no means at all an advocate of cutting/getting rid of Cundiff, your argument is flawed for these reasons: 1) Cundiff is a veteran Pro Bowl type player; 2) last week he was just as bad without winds; 3) a good kicker has to make those kicks, no matter the weather (that means all out blizzard, hurricane, dust storm, etc.)

His one of the highest paid kicker in NFL, only next to janikowski(who you know can make even 68 yarders).

His leading in missed FGs...its just not accetable. You would think after his frustration in seattle(and even before jags game), where his kick wouldve made a Loss to a W, he'd be at least improving near playoff time. Instead he is missing FGs any kicker in NFL can make except for a really bad few.

Yeah sure we're contending for the division and it's December but let's just cut our kicker who had a bad game in bad weather.
he has won of a couple games too. Like /arizona this year. He pulled our butts out this year that could have been our 4th lost to a losing team!

I havent talked anything about billy since today. In fact i've been one of the biggest supporter of him on preseason 10' when he was fighting for a spot vs. Hauska. But after several games, and AFTER todays performance, i can obviously tell just does not have the same mentality he had like last year. His one FG he made in 20yarder was barely in, amd the other two easy FGs in 30yarders were missed.

Yeah i know, i watched that. He is still our kicker, and we are in a critical time in the season. We can't start talking about getting rid of him and have his confidence shaken. When we need him he will make up for those two, but he doesn't need any added pressure.

True. But he had little to no problem kicking one on jets game in 10' on 1st game which was a 51 yarder in a wet field.

I agree.

I think most people are completely blinded by last year, which was the EXCEPTION, not the rule.

There's a reason nobody wanted/kept Cundiff before he got to Baltimore last year.

Let's talk about THIS year, where even with the kickoffs moved up 5 yards... we don't seem to be getting many touchbacks at all. Kickoffs are routinely being returned past the 20 yard line.

Then, field goals speak for themselves. He's not making them. Shoot, we're too scared to even attempt the longer kicks that other teams regularly kick. We end up punting even though we could be going for a 50-something yarder which plenty of other teams get.

Sorry but he's a kicker, and there' no sense in being loyal to a guy who had 1 good season. 3 points makes a huge difference against good teams. That's usually the difference in Ravens and Steelers games. I really don't want one of these playoff games coming down to Cundiff with the way he's played this year.

we also have to talk about snaping the football. Its not always Cundiff. Sometimes its the way the ball is positioned.
Also wasent there a game this year where Billy took a hit to the leg? Perhaps he is injured and isint telling?

Right, but I think the wind was a big factor today. He had at least one of the kicks he missed aimed well, but the wind carried it.

I would agree and thats what my mind set was, but his leading in kissed FGs. His been consistent in missing easy 3pointers. Anywho i hope he gets better. Knowing Ravens, every FGs count, and I'd rather he adjust to his skillset before its over for us to SB

This. I know he has missed some Field Goals but you can't blame him with the how bad the weather was today in Cleveland. Now Seattle and Jacksonville where there was no weather, ok fine get on him but the weather conditions made it tough. He can't make every FG folks, it seems if a player isn't perfect people on here want that player gone.
