So yeah, personally, I don't think it's gonna happen. I do think that he's going to damn close next year though - if he can keep up the pace in which he played against the niners.

As for an other question:
Who will lead the NFL in sacks by the end of week 17?

Suggs isn't Ware, he's actually asked to do more than just rush. I personally feel he's the best olb in the game right now as an all around player. I think if Suggs was just needed to rush the passer his numbers would be much higher but he does so much more and that's why he's so valuable. And no to answer the question.

The league record will take a player with supernatural pass rush skills who isn't asked to do a whole lot else in the scheme to be broken. You're talking about a Demarcus Ware or a Von Miller type of player with the right combination of power, speed, technique, and surrounding talent to free them up. Suggs is a powerful athlete and a skillful pass rusher, but since he also plays the run at his position he doesn't pin his ears back and pass rush quite as often as most people.

Suggs is probably the best DE in the AFC right now, and yes I do mean DE, considering he lines up with his hand in the dirt almost 60% of the time and drops into coverage around 10% of his snaps. He's a good coverage guy, but it's a waste of his pass rushing talent to use him that way. However, if he were categorized as an OLB he would probably be one of the best in the league at that position, as well.

So long as he smashes Roethlisberger a few more times, I don't really mind. It would be nice to see him with the Ravens' single season sack record however.

Suggs is asked to do a lot and be a more rounded player.

Ware is also a great player but he concentrates a lot more on this and so will rack up the sexy sack numbers.

Highly doubtful. The only reason Michael Strahan broke the record was because his buddy Brett Favre gave him a sack in the last game of the season.

Here is an article about it for a refresher: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/2008-01-17-4292516379_x.htm

Ravens Single season? He's got a pretty good shot. Though, he's been a streaky player... He may not have another sack for 2 games or he might have 3 more against Clev...who knows. I can tell you this, if thats all he did was rush the passer...he'd get to it.

Yeah forreal lol

But no, Suggs won't break it. He has the potential too if every ravens game was a primetime game but hes too hot and cold. Great player but only becomes an unstoppable force when he feels like it.

Absolutely not. I never said anything about that. I'm just saying that without Brett Favre laying down for him to get that last sack...he wouldn't have broken the record. Where is the problem?

Lol the DE comment is gonna ruffle some feathers here. One day I wrote about Kruger playing at DE at times with his hand in dirt. People were crying how he's just a LB etc as if kruger hasn't gone OLB -DE - ( current OLB/DE)

He's not an elite pass rusher, so no.
I wouldn't say Suggs isn't an Elite Pass Rusher, because in the defense he doesn't just run straight up the field for sacks every single play....
Ware, J.Allen, Freeney Mathis ( J.Allen plays run better than them) some of those guys pretty much are always petal to metal and if a run is called try to make tackle on way to QB.

Suggs situation is kinda like J.Peppers when he began to play more complete game focus on run support and rushing the passer his sack numbers dipped some ( but overall play improved ).

Yes. Did you see that game? The Packers let Strahan have that sack in the final moments of that game. It was called in the huddle to do so.

Here.

Don't get me wrong he's no slouch but the numbers show he doesn't beat blockers as well as the best pass rushers (pressures per rush attempt) this coincide with his sack numbers which are solid but never come close to leading the league. However, unlike most players in his position he's also an elite run stopper and a clutch playmaker, but you guys already know that :)

I wouldn't bother with the grades though, but you won't get those raw numbers anywhere else.

I'm pretty sure the reason McPhee's not on the list is because he didn't reach the 200 pass rush cutoff for inclusion.

Team record yes definitely....league record??? I'm hopeful but it will be a while. Probably when he's alot older and can only rush like the other incomplete hybrids.
