Cowherd: Ravens Are Most Overrated Team In NFL

139 posts in this topic

I heard him say that. He used to hate Romo and was critical of A. Rodgers. He doesn't like Joe. The only thing that will change his mind is a Ravens SB. He had Ravens rated # 8 in his top 10 today, behind Pats, Cowboys, squeelers, and 49er's. I'm trying to figure out why all the hate.

You know, people were saying similar things about the Packers last year. They lost 7-3 to the Lions, beat the Jets with 3 FGs, lost to the Redskins and Dolphins in back to back weeks in overtime. Then, the playoffs. First, they wouldn't beat Philadelphia at Philadelphia. Then, "The Falcons are 20-2 at home under Matt Ryan, no way the Packers win." Then, "Chicago is at home and they edged out the Packers early in the season and barely lost to them at the end of the regular season, so they'll win." Then "Pittsburgh is full of veterans who have won 2 Superbowl rings. Roethlisberger is a big time quarterback who has played well in the Superbowl. The Packers will be new at this, Pittsburgh has been there and done that." We all saw what happened. Look at the 2007 Giants. We just have to get into the playoffs people. Remember the 2000 Ravens had to play 2 road teams as well. Let Cowherd and Hodge and every other analyst keep saying we're overrated. Let's just punch our ticket to the playoffs and worry about the rest when we get there. Cleveland is our next opponent, and they might just be the most dangerous team with a losing record we'll face all season.

The only analyst I know to have picked the Ravens to win it all was ESPN's own Chris Berman. I hate every analyst they have, but I gotta give some love to Swami lol

I think Boomer is the only analyst who never played in the NFL who actually knows what he is talking about.

Eh as much as I cant stand his Steeler homerism, Matt Williamson is actually a really good scout/analyst. Most of his analysis is spot on.

You read my post wrong. I meant if this was last season or the 2009 season when we were taking care of business and actually killing the teams we were supposed to beat, Tyrod Taylor would have been in against the Seahawks, Titans and Jaguars, much like Troy Smith when we had him so Flacco wouldn't get hurt in a meaningless blowout. Kind of weird to word it while typing lol

Ah, yes....got it! Much better :)

Let the experts talk and the Ravens play. I love the underdog idea and I hope the Ravens go that way and take everything they want from their opponents.

My trusty friend, Google, says he was drafted by Pitt in '81 (10th round), but only played for the Giants for the '82 and '83 seasons.

I actually like Cowherd. He takes the emotion out of it and tells it like it really is. That's one of the hardest things for fans to do is to take off their rose colored glasses and emotionally detach themselves from the situation before commenting on a subject.

One reason we don't get much love is that we do not have a dominating offense. The media is in love with QBs, and if you can put up points it gets their attention. Or if you're Tim Tebow. Point is, our offense needs to get better, not just for the media's perceptions but for us to actually win a championship.

In all 3 of our losses our offense was just plain poor.

Cowherd from Sports Nation just said the Baltimore Ravens are the most overrated team in the NFL. I know his excuse is going to be cause we lost to losing teams, but we dominate against winning teams. I personally think the Patriots, Steelers, and Texans are overrated. The Texans especially now because of their QB problems.

Thoughts?
[/quote]

We should be undefeated, we beat all the good teams and we dropped a couple that we should have won..we would stand alone with the Packers as the only undefeated teams right now

...we aren't overrated, we aren't underrated...we are who we are at this point...but we could have/should have been undefeated

Or at least should be 10-1. We legitimately got beat by Tennessee, but the Jacksonville and Seattle games were terrible, terrible losses. And the Seattle game is solely on David Reed.

You ravens fans are like no other fans on earth. You boo a quarterback that has gradually got better and has taken you to the playoffs each year he has played. You cheered when kyle boler got hurt, You always think that the world is against you. there is a phrase for that "little man syndrome". I was at the cincinatti game a bit ago and i was sitting next to about 8 college chicks all in cinci gear, mind you every single one of them were hot. They actually had to get up and leave because they were getting stuff thrown at them, getting yelled at and being treated like they were sc um of the earth. If anyone of these beautifull women walked up to any of you ravens fans that call yourself a man you would be beside youself. Your excuse that ive heard many times is "passion" well whoever was thinking of that excuse while they were reading this is an idiot. You whine and complain when someone speaks ill of your team instead show a little posotive reinforcement stay behind your team without the attitude that world is out to get you. In the end you have to give the respect to get it

All ESPN people are bias.
Think about it, if theyre working in a sports business they love sports.
They have favorite teams. I can only think of 2 analysts from Bmore and thats LaCanfora and Mel Kiper and they barely get any oppurtunity to talk

Off topic much? Aside from that, your views are jaded and lump everyone together into one big category.

I've never cheered for a player getting hurt, not even a Pittsburgh one, and I've been to pretty much every home game since the stadium opened.

My girlfriend is a Bungles fan, I certainly don't throw things at her.

The only time off the top of my head that Joe's been booed this year has been at halftime for the Cardinals game. The team has come out and said that they absolutely think they deserved the boos and that it helped them going forward. We won that game, so it worked out pretty well if you ask me.

People get pissed off because the media suffers from a super obvious case of big market bias. Why do you think the NFL has the Patriots, Steelers, and 49ers ranked higher then the Ravens? Because they're huge markets, and it makes more people happy then it upsets if they're ranked above us then vice-versa, and the entire power rankings website makes its money by getting visitors.

I guess in that case we should just quit. Obviously they're going to win again regardless of who they play, time to start losing for draft picks!

Congrats. You just described every fanbase in the NFL.

Trust me, it is much much worse out there than Ravens Land.

I lived in Boston for years...now New York. I have been to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Buffalo for games. There are jerks in every single stadium. (Philly is the worst though)

Every football game has its fair share of rowdy jerks. The Bank is much better then most, certainly better then pits like Oakland, Philly, and Pittsburgh. Sorry for doing my part though?

Anyway, its not a conspiracy theory. Its maximizing profits, I'd probably do it too. That's not in relation to Cowherd btw, he's just a fool.

Edit: I also find it amusing that you criticize me for speaking for 70,000 people while attempting to do the same.

You might be getting me wrong here i love the ravens i think there a great outfit better than most, everything about them is great except the fans. i have travelled the country for a long time and have been to every stadium and seen every fanbase, but there is an undercurrent of animosity to the rest of the leauge and there fans by baltimore that shows its ugly head a lot more than you know. So when a figure head makes a statement about your team that is not what you want to hear just know it is a reply to you the fans and you alone to keep you in check and bring you back to reality. Yeah the ravens are 8-3 yeah they are a great team but when you prop them up on a pedistool next to the packers people that know a thing or two are going to put you in your place. an tell you yes there a good team but they need a little bit more tweeking and then they can talk about going to the superbowl. I flat out don't believe you've been to every stadium in the league. Seems highly unlikely to me. Everything about the Pack and the Super Bowl is flat out stupid. The Giants obviously shouldn't have played in the Super Bowl in 2007 right? It was their job to just lie down and let the Patriots walk over them for that perfect season. Any given Sunday applies to any given Sunday, including the Super Bowl. There's certainly not a better team in the AFC then the Ravens, and there's possibly 1 NFC team better. I picked Ravens over the Pack for the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season and I'll stick by that.

Not sure why you would make your original post and then say later that Ravens fans are not that bad?

Show me anyone who said we are as good as the Packers. All I see is Ravens fans who feel slighted when the Media tends to rank teams like the Steelers or Niners ahead of us even though we swept Pitt and convincingly beat the Niners. I dont think anyone here has been saying we are as good as the Packers. Obviously we are not or we would be 11-0 as well. Now do I think we could play with the Packers? Absolutely. I actually think we would give them a better fight than probably any other team in the league, that doesnt mean I think we are as good as them right now. In the long run it doesnt matter until we do get to play them hopefully in the SB when it matters the most. Until then all we can do is prognosticate and discuss hypotheticals. I'm not sure how coming on here and dissing the Ravens fan-base has anything to do with the top at hand though...

right now the most over rated teams in the nfl are those who rely soley on their quaterbacks to function in a game....that would be...lets see, the colts, the giants, the eagles, etc etc etc...am i getting my point across on this??
