Anyone Else Worried About The Bengals?

38 posts in this topic

Little late on making this thread but i have some extra time tonight. I was very, and i mean very impressed by how the bengals played against us, it was my first time watching them play this year. Dalton is going to be a very good qb, add in green and you have a very dangerous combo. Im not sure how much more benson will do for them so im guessin they draft a rb next year for replacement unless they think scott ist he answer, i dont. Add in them getting those draft picks from the raiders, the bengals have a great foundation to become a very good team, hell they already are. Im honestly a little worried about seeing them in the playoffs and the last game of the season, they should have greeen back and that will give us problems. anyone else been thinking this

A little nervous, yes. They were without Green their first time against us and from my account of the Browns-Bengals game, Green was working Joe Haden, who is right now better than any corner we have. I'm curious to see the adjustments Pagano makes to slow down their passing attack. I like how effective our offense was in that game though

i said this before and i will say it again. the bengals have a great team for years to come. they are young on every key position. they have a good quarterback, a very good tightend and a superstar wr. all under 24 years old. their defense is also very young. i think those games against that team will be tougher in the next seasons then those against the steelers. the steelers have to rebuild their team on a few positions and the begals are already through this process.

i don´t think that the games against the browns will be easy though. our division is the best in the league by far. for of the best defenses and a lot of very good offense around here, too!!!

Of the Five games left the @Cincy game is the one i am worried about...The other four are winnable games and the Ravens will lose only by beating themselves.

I'm only worried about the Ravens. As long as they play up to their level and the play calling remains somewhat balanced...they should win out. I'm not saying they will but they should.

They've every chance of being a good team for the next decade but so do we. They have Dalton, we have Flacco. They have Green, we have Smith. They have Gresham, we have Dickson and Pitta. We have a major advantage over them right now in that Rice is much better than their RBs.

I'm always worried about the Bengals, they are a solid team that almost always plays well against us, regardless of their record. But I'm not worried about them until week 17, we have another divisional opponent this week that I and the team most definitely are focused on.

I think the Bengals game was close because our defense was caught in transition without their general. With an extra week to prepare, they came out firing against the 49ers.

The great news is that by our next match-up we will have Ray back, and he will be reading Dalton as easily as he would a children's book.

Not too worried.

We were without Ray Lewis for the 1st time in years. That was a major transition for our defense.

Yes, they did not have Green but like I said, our defense was "off" that game, atleast that is what I like to believe, haha. That TE Gresham is impressive though. He gets open downfield quite a bit.

Come week 17 I think we will be rolling. We should handle Red Dalton. There is only so much a rookie QB can do in his rookie season. He has played well but no one is underestimating him anymore. I think he will have a skid in the coming weeks

Every team in our division worries me, no matter what their record. I've seen people still trying to call Cincy "The Bungles". They're pass that. They have a good, solid team and can only get better. They are going to be very dangerous in the years to come and, if they are underestimated, very dangerous now.

This is a tough division. And these teams all know one another incredibly well. Look how close the Cincy game was for us, then look how tight the "lowly" Cleveland Browns played them this week. One more against Cincy and two against Cleveland; none of those are gimmes.

I was surprised by how good they played here, but we are the better team. Their biggest edge over us remains coaching. Zimmer and Gruden are very good coordinators. They kinda remind me of that movie 'Major League' where the owner tries to lose but the team wins in spite of her. But anyway they are still the Bungles, good one year bad the next 4. I don't think that will change.

If we win out there's no reason to worry about them. Although we have to remember that they are a serious contender. Remember that '08 team that had to start their 3rd string QB and went to the Championship playoff round?

You're forgetting we are the Ravens and they are the Bengals. Advantage us :)

I think Coach Harbaugh summed up what the next few years will be against them pretty well in his post game press conference after our game with them. It just sucks that their horrible owner gets lucky by being cheap and stupid. And btw, their fans still can't sell out their stadium.

I'm not gonna lie they r the only team left that really have a chance of beating us and it will b a road game. On the good side Ray Lewis didnt play that game and multiple players said after the game that it was a lot of miss communication and busted plays. That was our first game without Ray since 07 so our defense wasn't prepared enough to play that game without Ray. We all kno he calls all the plays and sets everyone up in there positions. The game against the 49ers we were much more prepared for that game. All and all that Cincy game will be tough, but I think having Ray back would make a difference.

naw! i am looking to the browns next! and then the colts, chargers and browns again. that's 4 weeks of football to be played before the bengals game. why worry about a team that far out?

Theyre going to be dirty in a couple of years. It was a smart choice to keep Marvin around, he just needed young attentive blood around.

They do have the opportunity to add more young talent to their current nucleus with their additional draft picks. But a lot of players for them will soon be nearing the ends of rookie contracts or seeking new contracts within the next 2 seasons. Simpson, Caldwell, K.Rivers, Maluagua, L.Hall, M.Lawson, Benson, They have a number of guys that will be expecting contract extensions and thats from one of the cheaper teams in the league lol.

Present day I'm not worried about the bengals because I believe this team will and should take care of their business before the season finale against the Bengals....

In the future I'm not worried because the Ravens have a lot of young talent as well, the difference is that some of our best players and leaders are older R.Lewis, E.Reed, M.Birk. But overall this isn't an old team

I'll be rooting hard for the Bengals again this Sunday... I'm more worried about Pitt than Cincy.

Exactly how I feel. I'd rather the bengals beat the steelers and both be a game behind us.

The Bengals scare me more in the future than right now but I'd still say that if we had Ray and they had Green the game plays out the same as it did. Don't get me wrong Ray is the best but w/o Green they had no one to stretch the field against us and I could really see him going off in this up coming game. To the quote above: Simpson is going to get arrested at the end of the season for drug possession (charges are pending), Caldwell isn't that great and with Shipley back next season will barely see the field, Rivers has been out all season and they havn't missed him at all. L. Hall just signed a huge deal (By Bengal standards). Benson may be replaced by a draft pick. Malaluga and Lawson are both going to be big contracts but not nearly what the market for players of their calibur would cost and Mike Brown will be forced to spend more with the league minimum starting in 2013 so I see them all staying. So I don't see a lot of Free agency happening there. I know we will be good for years to come but I see the new rival being the Bengals as the Steelers start joining the AARP.

No, it's only been 12 games so far into their new "era" so I'd give it some more time to show they can do it on a consistent level for years. While they have some good players with potential they are just an ineptly run franchise with a terrible owner in Mike Brown. They've drafted some nice skill players, but they need to drastically improve their scouting and depth because injuries are part of the game and you need good backups, which the Bengals never have.

I don't like the Bengals since they are a division opponent, feel bad for their fans for having to put up with a crappy owner but the harsh reality is no matter how much talent you have you still need to have structure and foundation in your organization and the Bengals do not.
