Nothing Went Our Way For Week 12, Lets See Week 13

34 posts in this topic

Since Monday Night is 2 NFC teams the AFC standings are updated.
Nothing went our way this week. Browns lose to Bengals. Steelers barely escape Chiefs. Also the Patriots blew by the Eagles. If even 1 of these where the opposite it would have helped us a ton. Next week the Bengals and the Steelers play. Since the Bengals are 7-4 and the Steelers are 8-3 a Bengals win would help the Ravens next week. Im not saying we should rely on this to happen but it would creat breathing room for our Division lead and possible Home playoff game. We must beat the Browns next Sunday. No exceptions. if we win and Steelers lose. We are up by a game and a half I believe. So go Bengals and Ravens? and whoever is playing the Patriots?

Thoughts?

Well we'll certainly need help but man it just wasn't this week for us to be helped. Now looking ahead at Week 13:

Bengals vs Steelers: In Pittsburgh, will be tough and I doubt they could win but we'll all be Bengals fans next week.

Colts vs Patriots: This one... well I'm not even going to say anything but this is an automatic Patriots win.

Falcons vs Texans: Texans currently hold a Tiebreaker over us due to Conference since the NFL had to use the tiebreaker rule for 3 teams with Pats, Ravens and Texans being 8-3. In Houston, Defense will give Matt Ryan fits but with Leinart gone I expect the first helping right here as Texans lose dropping them to 8-4.

Ravens vs Cleveland: Ravens don't need to worry about other teams losing as long they keep winning. If we do our job next week and beat the Browns we'll go to 9-3.

I always forget about Houston. Yeah automatic Pats win.
Due to our inconsistency this year Im always looking for something to help us if we fall.
Bengals beat them and us before away.. anything is possible..

we do own the head to head tiebreaker over Houston, but they have more confernce (AFC) wins than us......once we beat another AFC team (CLE) we'll jump Houston or if Houston losses

Ravens have tiebreaker over texans. Both teams have 2 AFC loses.... But we beat texans head to head .... ( texans lost to Ravens, Oakland ) ( Ravens lost to Titans and Jags ). But there is still football to be played.... With a 3rd string QB texans won't be in the discussion soon.

This, all of our remaining games are in conference, so winning out will give us a top 2 seed

ESPN has a nifty site that lets you choose any won-loss scenario you choose for the remainder of the season , then gives you the seeds , wild cards , etc. :

http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

If the Ravens , Houston , Pitt , and N.E. all win out and finish at 13-3 , the Ravens get #1 seed and N.E. gets #2.

Simple. Easy. Forget all the tiebreaker stuff. This is why they invented computers.

Losing to pathethic jaguars/titans team has hurt us huge in AFC(3rd PS QB beat the jags today fyi) We actually hold the least winning conference record next to raiders. Losing to browns would put drop us out of home field advantage considering how easy both bengals/steelers schedules are.

Doesn't matter. We just have to keep winning.

I said this before - we've got to win out. In theory we should be able to do so, but in theory we should have been 11-0 given who we lost to.

I wouldnt say the jags lost to him, the final score was 20 - 13 and Leinert was in for arian fosters touchdown run and he threw the touchdown pass. The third string guy technically only scored 6 points...that being said houston still has a very good defense and their quarterback was very good in college for UNC until he had 16 of his teammates suspended

That was all to be expected. I had NE, CIN and Pitt as winners. We can't rely upon these guys to lose. We need to take care of our own business.

(I'm going to peg fun at the Steelers fan who started a thread about the Ravens being lucky)

The Steelers are THE luckiest team this year.
1) They get to go into Arrowhead against a QB who is born and raised near Pitt and who stinks)
2) Big Ben gets a fracture in his hand and still can play (unlike Cassell or Cutler)
3) They barely survive against the Colts who had Painter
I could go on.

Palko does stink I agree there but how do the Steelers get lucky based on him being born and raised in Pittsburgh?? Are you trying to suggest that he threw the game last night and wouldnt play as hard because he wanted the Steelers to win because he is from Pittsburgh?? Ben is as tough as they come and he plays through injuries better then any QB in football. And yes the Steelers did survive the Colts in that 3rd game of the season but keep in mind Painter came into that game with about 11 minutes left in the 4th quarter after Kerry Collins suffered a concussion. Collins played the majority of that game not Painter..You could go on too you said well tell me about the other wins the Steelers have this season that they got lucky in. They shutout Seattle, blew out Tennessee, dominated the Jags in the 1st half and slept walk through the 2nd half of that game but still found a way to win, beat the Cards pretty easily in Arizona, handled the Patriots without much of a problem, and beat the Bengals a few weeks ago in a very tough hard fought game. What was lucky about any of those wins please elaborate and dont bring up games from previous seasons...

You gotta believe that there will be much more focus now that we will be into December and closer to the desired end. Even with the questionable losses, we still control our own fate and should not lose due to lack of focus or effort. If we sustain injuries or just get beat, we can't control those factors.

Where else would you rather be? I know, 11 and 0!!!

You ask me and I think Pitt is the most lethal opponent right now. Fortunately they have two losable games and one is this sunday! yayyy! GO CINCI!

The other is the 49ers in San Francisco.

With the way Polamalu has been playing and beating his own body he could likely be out for the Cinci game. Could be huge for Cinci.

They win that game and Hosuton loses and we take care of business we could all be feeling really good next week!

All is not lost last weekend!

I am calling Shennigans on Palko. Born and raised in PA. Went to Pitt. He knew his time in KC was numbered with the Orton signing. Those picks looked awful bad. How many short fields was he going to give the Steelers.

Now I don't really believe any of that. I'm the last one to suggest conspiracies theories. But Palko giving easy, easy gifts was just horrendous.

All in all I was just poking fun at that one Steelers' poster with the lucky thread.

I am surprised Wallace17_OutRunMe stuck around this long...

IMO both teams have had questionable performances. Our losses were really ugly and the Steelers can atleast explain theirs. Only difference is we swept them. Hard pill to swallow.

The steelers won that game last night but they might have lost Polamalu and with Cinci coming up they are probably a bit nervous. Big Ben was obviously affected by his injury. I never knew the Chiefs would play like that but hey Kelly Gregg was over there. Maybe he had the team prepared?

I think if the Chiefs had Cassel - gasp - they could have won that thing. Just one less turnover like the one that the Steelers scored on perhaps? and the Chiefs pull off the upset. Oh well.

Steelers time is coming soon enough

Him giving easy easy gifts is a product of him not being a very good QB at all and has nothing to do with him throwing the ball to the Steelers because he knew his time is numbered and he wanted to help the Steelers win. There is a reason Palko is 28 years old and has never been a starting QB or even on an NFL 53 man roster for an entire season and we have seen why the last 2 weeks with the horrific throws he has made in both the Steelers and Patriots games...

I like Wallace17_Out run me. He's good for some good football talk. Unlike many of our own posters on here. We need somebody to replace Warden. He's gone MIA.

I agree with you. Palko is horrible. I believe this 100% more than the Pitt/relationship consipiracy theory. But I have to wonder who was the coaching brainchild that gameplanned to have Palko throwing down field so much.

That 92 yard drive by Flacco looms large now and it will continue too unless the Ravens drop another game this season and the Steelers keep winning...Early reports say that Polamalu doesnt have a real serious concussion and that he should be good to play Sunday against the Bengals. Whether Polamalu plays or not The Bengals had still had step up their game as well coming into Pittsburgh this week seeing that they almost laid an egg yesterday at home and barely got by a bad Browns team...The Steelers offense moved the ball fairly well on the Bengals defense the last time they played a few weeks ago and I expect the Steelers offense to bounce back and have a better game against Cincy then they did against the Chiefs last night...

Like every1 has said, we need to win out regardless....We need #1 seed and home field playoff games period.....

Now it's the time for every1 on our roster to either break out and get booted out......
