Tyler Palko / Joe Flacco

36 posts in this topic

Did I hear the NBC crew correctly?? Joe Flacco was the backup qb to Tyler Palko at Pitt??? How in the world was that possible? Tyler sucks (to put it nicely). Not sure what when down at Pitt, but it seems like our boy Joe got screwed. Joe must be smiling watching this game. His career is certainly better than Tyler Palko!!

I bet Flacco is taking some ribbing about that right now. LOL

Whoever put Palko ahead of Joe should be out of a job.

I believe Tyler Palko's dad was the coach.

That's the only explanation that works.

Just wonder how much better Joe could be if given the opportunity to play his college ball at a division 1 school. Well, hopefully when it all said and done, Joe will get the last laugh.

So he showed favoritism just because it was his own son ?

I'm shocked , I tell you , shocked !

I know we have the better qb...but to be honest, I'm pulling for Tyler in this one. I want the Chiefs to pull this off! Could end up being the only game that helps the Ravens (and Joe) today.

Palko's dad was the coach at the local HS where he was recruited from...Palko was a local product and supposedly a top recruit. When Joe came a couple years later, he wasn't given a fair shot at starting so he did the sensible thing and transferred.

Wandstatt was the coach.
??? What's the connection? Was Wandstatt just dumb? Why would he put Tyler ahead of Joe? Did you play poorly at Pitt? Just Curious.

From Wiki--I know not the worlds greatest reference for football
Pittsburgh

In 2003, Flacco was redshirted as a freshman for a team that went 8-5.
In 2004, he was the backup quarterback finding limited playing time behind starter Tyler Palko. He only saw action in three games against Ohio University, University of Nebraska, and the University of South Florida. He finished the season with one completion for 11 yards.
A friend of mine who is a huge college football fan told me all about it draft day. I'll take Flacco all the way

Palko should not see another snap in the NFL. He is that bad. I feel very badly for the KC defense. They played their hearts out tonight.

On a brighter note (though OT a bit) if Pitt plays like this the 49ers should win easily.

When I first read the title I thought it was some kinda comparison or something. Was about to give somebody some hell. If the chiefs were fully healthy they would have won tonight. If they only had a QB that could protect the football they would have won.

Brady wasn't the starter when he got to college either. He was behind who? I don't know. Point taken.
Also, Aaron Rodgers had to go to a small Division II, maybe III school before transferring.

If we were playing the Chiefs, there would be Chiefs fans trying to tell us Palko is better.

Anyone who complains about Joe just needs to watch this game and be thankful and be quiet... we are truly blessed to have a QB of Joe's caliber.

Yeah, that was it. Thanks for the clarification. I was too busy rooting for the Chiefs to look it up. What a waste of time that was.

How fitting though he left Pitt and got drafted by Baltimore and will now be in his own way getting back at them for he rest of his career hopefully. Screw Pitt the college, pro team, the whole damn city and its arrogant fans(not all em).

Dave Wannestedt was Pittsburgh Panthers HC then. He got the job after being fired by Miami dolphins.
Pretty much worked out similar to Ryan mallet in Michigan new coaching staff that didn't recruit u, u may not play or fit their system so transfer... Happens a lot in college...

Rodgers went to a jc.

And to add to your point. Flacco not starting then simply means he wasnt better at that time. Its irrelevant now.

Fwiw numerous nfl qbs dont start til jr or even sr yr. Cam newton only time as starter was his last yr
