[Blogs] Webb Stands Up To The Test

Lardarius Webb is our best corner and another good #21. Very classy and great player! He made some Lardarius plays. Demote Cary Williams! He sucks in the NFL! Am I the only one who notices? He gets beat deep reguraly.

Apparently, Webb didn't get the message that he wasn't good enough. Or if he did, he decided to prove everyone wrong! Mission accomplished.

As to Jimmy Smith, he looks like the complete package. However in order for him to start, he will have to win the job from two CBs who are playing at the top of their games - a nice problem for the Ravens to have.

From the get-go, I have been a fan of Webb. I could see his potential, and he sure as hell has reached that potential. A few morons this year have doubted/questioned him. Of course with no solid bases for their reasoning. I'm so glad that we have this guy on our team. By far the best CB on our team; and becoming one of the best in the league. Once J. Smith is up to speed, it's going be lights out!!

I dont understand all the bashing on Cary Williams ! -- The dude has had many pass deflections this year, and hasnt been getting the ball thrown to his man to often cause he's on him ! -- And for the deep ball, he hasnt been getting beat at all, its just a mechanics issue, he's there, just has a hard time finding it ! -- He stays step for step with the people...look at when he broke up the pass with Mike Wallace in week 9 !

Dude, Williams he DOES NOT suck. He's done a solid job for us. Although he def has room for improvement; he's a good CB. Not the best, but he's good, and we're fortunate to have him right now. I've seen him get beat deep, but not "regularly"! He's a risk taker, and sometimes gets his hips turned, and loses track of his man. Remember, this is his first year actually starting in the NFL; so he too is almost like a rookie and is learning game by game. By season's end, we may have one of the top CB tandems.

all the people that hate on Carry Williams you guys don't know what your talking about and he's a better than any of you haters will ever dream about being he doesn't get beat often and even if he did last game it don't matter every corner gets beat once in a while if you don't like him pick a new team to like and I bet you will be glad that CARY WILLIAMS was on the ravens compared to all the other trashy sucky corners in the NFL

Cary you go your doing a great job for us this year

I remember when the Ravens drafted Jimmy Smith, a reporter asked Webb about losing his spot to him. Webb said he hadn't lost his spot to anybody, and planned on being part of the best cornerback duo in the NFL. At the time some thought Jimmy Smith would be #1 right off the bat and Carr and Foxworth would actually be ready to go. Then literally every cornerback on the team besides Webb and Williams got hurt. Webb has been playing like a pro-bowler this year. I still have no doubt that Jimmy Smith will be the best of all of them, but on the other side, while Williams has been great, Webb has been even better. Looks like Webb was right, we'll be hearing a lot about Smith and Webb in the next few years. But Cary Williams isn't going away either. And keep an eye on Danny Gorrer, he's come out of nowhere and made the most of his time. It's great to have cornerbacks again, remember when we were stuck with Foxworth and Washington? how far we've come.

usually cornerbacks are assigned to a player but in the NFL they call them the right or left corner and Lardarius pretty much shuts down anything on his side and even though williams gets beat sometimes he usually has ed reed to shut down that side of the field and Jimmy smith playing nickel def helps shut down the slot receivers cause he plays such good man to man coverage. He just needs more work in the zone coverages. But im extremely confident in our secondary this year.

And Revis might shut down receivers but I dont see rex blitzing his best cornerback very often and i think thats because he is afraid his other corners will get beat deep. Webb does everything man or zone or blitzing the qb and he always makes his tackles.

Look at him trailing Mike Wallace by like five steps deap in Week 9. If not for pressure, It've been a TD and we would likely have lost or gone into OT.

It would be nice to have perfect CBs but we don't. C.Will makes more plays then he does bad plays. So whats the problem? You guys expect for him to block or intercept everything going his way. Their are Wrs that can burn him and Im fine with that as long that I know he wont give up and he makes sure he makes a play on the next one. He is a young talent that will get better as the year goes on. Live and Learn.

display name... watch the tape from the first 2 weeks with Foxworth, then tell me that Cary Williams isn't good enough. Watch Chris Carr stand 3 feet away from his receiver and not jump until the receiver already has the ball, then tell me that Cary Williams isn't good enough. I could support an argument for Jimmy Smith over Cary Williams considering Jimmy's skill set, but Williams is having a good year. Look at the stats for opposing #2 receivers this year. The only receiver to really rip us a new one on his own this year has been Kenny Britt, and we can credit that to Foxworth. Williams is good enough to keep opposing #2 receivers from beating us, and that's all we need.

by the way, Chris Carr's roster spot is looking shaky for next year. Jimmy Smith, Lardarius Webb, and Cary Williams are pretty much locked in as top 3, and Danny Gorrer has been taking some time from Carr this year. Harbaugh said that Chris Carr was getting paid "starter money" in his new contract. You can't pay a 4th or 5th cornerback starter money. Nothing against him, but he's losing a numbers game.

Cary Williams is like what Webb was last year. We called him a "solid player", but thats it. A guy who will never be anything more than a solid backup. Now look at him. He just keeps getting better and better. This is Cary's first year as an NFL starter much less his first REAL time playing in a game. He will get better. Jimmy Smith will also be progressing. Obviously it seems Webb has secured his role and the number two spot, while most likely going to stay in Cary's hands this year, will be go to whoever progresses the quickest.

Webb will be a top corner for years to come. Cary is solid, which i like him. He work for years to finally play.Jimmy will be a force too, but cary is ok for now at 2.But you got to like going on a championship run with those 3. If the pass rush, ball out, then this D will host the afc championship. Next season should be the top three pairing in the league. Poor Carr, but had to resign him. Im all for foxworth gone, didnt want him in the first place. But Webb,Cary, and Jimmy will be a force in these next 5 weeks. This TEAM is ready for Dec and Jan and of course, FEB!! Go Ravens!!

We got some good CBs and Chuck Pagano knows what too look for! We have great depth at the position. I wonder how Chykie Brown is progressing. Danny Gorrer will stay with us. Carr has the smarts but Im not sure if he has the speed and physical assets to compete against big wideouts that being said, I don't think we will keep him. Webb,Cary,Jimmy, Gorrer and Brown sounds like a young talented group that will be dominate from years to come. VOTE WEBB TO THE PROBOWL!

Sad. I liked Carr. Great class. Sad this is likely his last year. He's gotta do something quick if he wans to stay around. He's been around the AFC.
