Lol. Ok. You obviously don't watch oline play very closely, and are now mistaking correlation for causation.

Giving up here. Think whatever you want. See who makes the Pro Bowl/All Pro selections and ends up with the bigger contract.
[/quote]
you cant just back up such and such is better because of pro bowl/contract... no,1 grubbs has missed games so its hard for him to make the pro bowl after that, so its not a fair "test", secondly, ryan fitzpatrick earns more than flacco, mike vick eanrs more than drew brees, is fitzpat better than flacco and vick better than brees?

We should just be blessed we have one of the best guard tandems in the league second to only the saints, if they are actually better tandem..

On technique , I gather from the guys who score such things that Yanda is dang near perfect , but Grubbs , and Birk too , are excellent also. They might all occasionally go up against someone who's superior physically and thus not have a great night , but as a whole , they're a solid nucleus for our O-line. McKinnie disappoints me most. Considering his size , he should get more forward push than he does. I don't know if it's his condition or if he just doesn't go 100% , but it's there. It shouldn't be technique , either , given his experience.

With Oher , I'm just happy if he's not offsides.

Corey Redding actually leads the team in tackles for loss. And he was second on the team last year. I think players that can rush the passer or gets alot of sacks tends to be a little overrated. While the players that are not great pass rusher, but great in run defense get underrated. We all love those stats. Getting pressure on the QB is extremely important, but it don`t mean squat if you can`t stop the run. You need to stop the run to get to 3rd and long situations, or even get them to pass period.

I think McKinnie doesn't get push because he's not fast or quick, and he might not have the best footwork. He's not as fast off the ball as Oher or Yanda, and he's a little slowfooted. Getting off the ball and fast feet are very underrated traits of offensive linemen.

And ya know, he might just not be as strong as others. You can be big but not strong. In order to actually move people you need strength not just size.

Yep. He was a good pickup for us because we needed a warm body there , but that's a position we need to improve on for next year. He obviously didn't start the season out in the best of shape , but I don't know that we can count on him being any better next year. A draftee who's ready to start there would be great , and we then might want to back him up with McKinnie , or someone else altogether.

You can if the contracts come from the same person for the same position. If Ozzie doesn't give Grubbs the same or more then Yanda, there's obviously a reason. Yanda got Tackle money to play Guard, again, there's a reason for it.

That being said, I'm not trying to take away from Grubbs here. He's a great guard, and our interior Oline is one of, if not the best in the league. BUT, if he's expecting to get paid like Yanda did, I think he's in for a disappointment. I absolutely hope he stays here but i just feel like he's going to get a better offer from another team. Hope I'm wrong though!

I'm not impressed by McKinnie, but eh. His run blocking is lacking, it kind of baffles me. He's one of the biggest guys on the field and gets pushed around by smaller people consistently. That being said, he's been solid in pass protection, and he's a substantial upgrade over Oher on the right. Both of them have been steadily improving, and they're at the very least serviceable. Tackle and Center are definitely positions of need going into the draft.

I think theres too much stock being put into draft position and probably Madden ratings lol, Yanda is better than Grubbs but thats not to say Grubbs isn't elite, because he is. Yanda is just the best guard in football right now.

Birk - Resign for one year if he doesn't retire and draft a C with our 1st pick to be groomed under him

Ayanbadejo - Resign our special teams ace and quality LB depth

Grubbs - Sign to an extension so we can lock down our guard tandem for years, comparable to Yanda's deal

JJ - I like the guy, but he is getting older and another team will overpay. It also allows Paul Kruger to start and play more snaps and I think he could be a great bookend to Suggs given the starting opportunity, he will need to improve his run defense but is a solid pass rusher

Redding - I like Redding and don't think he will be all that expensive, we do have quality depth in McPhee and Art Jones but Redding seems very happy here, fits in well, and should stay. If we do lose him I have the utmost confidence in Jones and McPhee.

Ray Rice - I feel bad for little Ray because he may never get BIG money, he has been making 600k the past two seasons and now will be franchised at 7.7. million and then the Ravens have to extend Flacco the next year...

Bryant McKinnie - He is under control next season but I would offer him a reasonable 2 year extension past that. He is a very solid OT, he is happy here, has kept his weight under control, and we cannot risk breaking up this offensive line, it is the key to Flacco's continued success. Aside from Birk I want to see this line remain in tact for the next 3 seasons.

Ray Lewis - Exercise his option year 1 obviously (if we win the Super Bowl, Ray and Ed WILL retire, so just be aware of that).

Cut Foxworth, Carr, Johnson, and that should free up some pretty decent money, enough for two big time extensions.

7 mil + 4 mil + 4 mil almost covers Grubbs and Flaccos extensions.

L Webb and C Williams are both FAs are they not? I hope we do not make the mistake of losing one of them and keeping Foxworth, I liked Foxy quite a bit but Id say he has to be cut. Webb is turning into something really special, and C Williams has been consistent day in and out from the start.

I think its a shame if we franchise Rice and dont sign him to a long term deal. Hes carried this ofense for years now and wont have as long a career as Flacco. Rice more then anyone deserves the big money.

If we get rid of Cary williams that would be a huge mistake.

Hell yea. They guy has basically never started in the NFL up until this year and he is holding up as a pretty solid corner. Not ideal #1 material but he is barely more than a rookie, and you picked him up for nothing.

Cutting Carr would be stupid as we just signed him to a decent contract. Maybe we could trade him to a cornerback plagued team, but cutting him and Fox not really be plausible.

Surprised so many are saying let Redding go and backfill him w/ McPhee. Redding is having an awesome year and you can never have too much depth on the D-Line.
