Our 2012 Free Agents

78 posts in this topic

In my opinion resigning Grubbs is a must. In the next couple years we'll have to be breaking in a new center and a new LT. If Grubbs goes then it's the entire left side. If we keep Grubbs then we may not notice the transition as much.

Found the Full List of our Free Agents:

Brendon Ayanbadejo: I would be ok if he stayed or if he was cut. Personally, sign him to a 1 year deal due to his age, see if we can Draft one of the top Linebackers and if so cut him.

Matt Birk: Sign him to a 1 Year Deal, maybe 2 so he can help groom our future center of which we Draft next year.

Dan Ellerbe: Restricted Free Agent. Tender Him a 2nd so we can keep him.

Ben Grubbs: Must Keep. Our offensive line was bad without him but yet has improved so much with him back. Offer him a reasonable deal, 5-6 years.

Jarrett Johnson: I would have said keep him but with Paul Kruger coming along, Johnson can be let go and Kruger can take over at OLB opposite of Suggs. He'll most likely go to the Jets.

Sergio Kindle: He is a Exclusive Rights Free Agents. He'll be great depth behind Kruger and Suggs.

Jameel McClain: Keep.

Brandon McKinney: He can go but if we can get him cheap keep him for depth behind Cody.

Haruki Nakamura: Restricted Free Agent. I say let him go or Tender him Original Round Pick.

Cory Redding: I love Redding but I say let him go and start McPhee next year at LE.

Ray Rice: We already know he will be given the Franchise Tag.

Lardarius Webb: Restricted Free Agent. Tender him a 1st Round so we can keep him and work out a long term deal before next season.

Cary Williams: Exclusive Rights Free Agent. Make sure we keep him and extend him because he is great depth at Corner.

Zibby: We may lose him as he has played well when he has started so but maybe we can keep him.

I pretty much agree with this except I think Birk is most likely to retire so if he doesn't then it's one more year at the very most. I also don't think Ellerbe will be tendered so highly what with us likely grabbing an ILB high in the draft and that he's been floating around the doghouse before.

Keep: Jameel, Redding, Grubbs, Ray Rice = a must.

Cut: Domonique Crapworth, JJ, and Carr. No reason to keep chris carr if he is a depth CB at #4,5 AT BEST for 6mill/yrear.

Maybe: Birk, Ellerbe, Gorrer, Cary Williams, Zibi, Haruki, Brandon.

From what I've seen anyone who leaves Ravens realize they are missing out : both financially and in winning. Just look at Jared gaither and leron mcclain. Jared I think gets players minimum and that is for only 1year.

You said we're cutting 2 corners and maybe cutting 2 more...that leaves us with webb, jimmy, chykie brown...i doubt thats going to happen

If we get rid of Cary williams that would be a huge mistake.

because everyone seems to be missing this, i'll reiterate:

BRYANT McKinnie is not going anywhere. He's signed to a 2 year deal. He's a solid LT and he solidifies that side of our line. He works really well with Grubbs, who we are also keeping.

BRANDON McKinnie is a second rate defensive tackle. The dude has no moves, no speed, gets no penetration. That dude is going to be a free agent, drop him like he's hot.

oh and next year cary williams will make a good #3 CB so lets not get rid of him either. Dude's good, but Jimmy just needs a little bit of work and he'll be great. tremendous upside on that guy.

There is no such person on the Ravens as BRYAN MCKINNIE. His name is BRANDON MCKINNEY.

Brendon - Definitely keep. Great on special teams, pretty good in coverage and even stepped up in every down situations.

Matt Birk - 1 year deal and we draft a center.

Foxworth - Release him.

McKinnie - Keep for cheap if he keeps it up. Short term deal.

Ray Rice - Long term deal.

Grubbs - Long term deal.

Redding - Try to keep for cheap as depth. Still producing.

Johnson - Try to keep. We shouldn't disrespect him. We should scale back his playing time next year in favor of Kruger, though.

Kindle - Meh. 1 or 2 year deal and see if he pans out.

Grubbs should be top priority, IMO. Followed by Rice.

I think Birk is likely to retire.

Redding probably won't be resigned. He was a stopgap, and either Art Jones or McPhee will probably get the starting spot.

JJ will probably get a payday from someone, Kruger and Kindle will probably take over.

Kindle will get signed to another one year deal.

Rice is going to get franchised and then paid.

Grubbs I'm actually not sure on. He's not going to get the contract Yanda got. Hopefully we keep him.

I think speculating over RFA's is pointless. The team is going to assign a reasonable tender to anyone they want to keep and nobody is going to snatch them unless we undervalue them. Which Ozzie doesn't.

Any big UFA's I missed? Flacco's going to get an extension in the offseason as well.

A deal will get worked out for Grubbs first and foremost IMO. I really see the FO slapping the tag on Rice because they might not want to hand out two big contracts in one off season. I think Redding will be back as well, he's a good fit for this team that can play multiple positions, and has made a case for an offer from the FO. I have a feeling they will let JJ walk or low ball him.

Rice is cheaper to franchise tag, so this is why I believe Grubbs is priority #1 for the long term deal.

Ill be a happy man once dominque crapworth is out of Ravens jersey. He made more money than Ray Lewis / Ed Reed and he contributed absolutely nothing except get injured and blow out games for us. The guy is the WORST signing Ravens had ever had.

Why resign Kindle? He hasn't played a regular season snap for us and is just going to ride the bench for another season..

If we get him at the minimum again, which is highly likely, why not? If he has another offseason and doesn't perform, we cut him. On the other hand, he could start realizing some of his potential. It's worth a shot on a second round pick. It's not like he's some undrafted scrub.

No, he's not.

Yanda's probably the best guard in the league right now, and its not even close between the two of them.

He's given up something like 3 pressures 1 sack total this season.

He's a second round pick were paying next to nothing who could still recover from his injury.

No reason not to resign him, giving up on him this early is a terrible idea.

With so many of our players hitting FA who do you think we'll keep? I know it's early

Matt Birk - He said he wanted to groom a successor so sign him to a 1 year contract or we let him go and get a C in FA, or sign Andre Guorde to a short term contract

Brendon Ayanbadjero - One of the unsung heros of our team, we keep him

Ben Grubbs - Keep him, Ozzie doesn't like letting key players and 1st rounders that haven't busted walk. Theres a reason so many of our guys have been ravens there whole career or the majority

Jarret Johnson - Don't resign, he's 31 and we got great depth behind him

Sergio Kindle - Sign him to a 1 year contract to see if he has a future in this league

Cory Redding - Don't resign and let McPhee take over or get Darnell Docket (i can wish)

Ray Rice - Franchise tag him and work out a long-term deal

Bryant McKinnie - Don't need him

We can save cap space by releasing Foxworth

edit: Got BRANDON McKinnie mixed with Bryant McKinnie. Def keep Mckinnie.
Can't keep them all. I like JJ and would like to keep him for the right price but I would bet that someone is going to overpay or at least outbid us. We can't afford to overpay but I think JJ has a good 3 years where he could help make Kindle into something. Speaking of Kindle I am all in favor of a one year deal to prove he's a Raven.
I think we have to let Birk walk and let Gurode play at C. I think we can do well with him in place.
We can also let big 91 McKinnie go. I think we have a few other guys that are ready to go on the Dline.
We have to let some go. I think Foxworth is gone. Sad because it seems like he was hardly even here with the injuries.

I think Grubbs seems so much better because Mckinnie is new to the system so it is crucial for grubbs to be in to help mckinnie handle blitzes. Thats being said i agree Grubbs is our number 1 priority as we've seen how our offense plays with and without him. Just wondering could we possibly franchise tag grubbs to work out a deal with him while making a deal for rice and flacco? Rice is having a big year, especially touchdown wise, so we're going to have to pay him anyway. We need to get rice signed ASAP because when matt forte gets his huge contract rice is going to want those numbers. Both guys are the centerpieces of their team's offense and both can run and catch extremely well. I think waiting longer on rice will only up the asking price and this way we get him signed faster and have a longer time to work on grubbs. just a thought not sure if it could work out though?

Lol. Ok. You obviously don't watch oline play very closely, and are now mistaking correlation for causation.

Giving up here. Think whatever you want. See who makes the Pro Bowl/All Pro selections and ends up with the bigger contract.
