Love For Dickson and Pitta

16 posts in this topic

I see alot of love for our Defense/T. Smith/Flacco etc. and rightfully so. But our TE's, mostly Pitta have been coming up huge in recent weeks, in 3rd down situations and such. Pitta looks like he is becoming a safety valve for Joe with his outstanding catching ability, while Dickson blows the top off of LB's and a cheating Safety or two. Our dual threat TE situation, like said last night is second only to NE's Gronk/Hernandez which is becoming legendary..Also congrats to Pitta on the first TD of his hopefully long career with Baltimore.

Being a realist here, Pitta doesn't do anything besides catch 3rd down passes and Dickson doesn't dominate. Lots of room for improvement but they're doing good.

Hey man this isn't a hate topic.. Besides you cant blame them for not being targeted, you can ask CamCam why it doesn't happen.

Im starting to really, really like Pitta. The guy can catch some balls. He is starting to out shine Dickerson imo.

Gotta give Flacco some major props yesterday, he could have had more throwing yardage too. I dont know why we stopped throwing to Boldin but man i feel bad for him. Boldin is a beast and is under used. You see how dangerous he is running up the middle.

We need to do more Seam routes if you ask me.

LOL, if Pitta didnt catch that T.D pass, everyone would be complaining about Cam.
Cam to me did a bad job last night, wasting downs on a consistent basis. Score should have been 6 - 28 easy.

both of these cats are good and i would like to see them more involved in our offense. Cam needs to dial up more 2TE and "unbalanced" sets for these guys to dominate.

The decision to get rid of Heap was widely unpopular, even with Flacco. It has turned out to be one of the better moves our franchise has ever made. But Heap is a class act and this is no way a knock on him, I wish him the best.

They both played well last night. Made a couple of clutch plays. Really came through when their number was called upon.
I would like to see Pitta a little more aswell.

I love how this thread has divulged into yet another "lets hate on Cam Cameron". These guys are on the field a lot and on the field together a lot. Maybe some of you dont recognize that, but Cam is using them really well IMO. They were featured against Seattle, is that what you all want? Obviously that is a bit extreme, but its not a bad thing to have a lot of offensive weapons. With Lee Evans back Cam needs to find a balance not only with run/pass, but with what personnel to use as well. Vonta Leach has also proven how valuable he is to the run game and as much as I love Dickson and Pitta they arent the run-blockers that Leach is.

Once Lee Evans is more involved in the passing game. It's on! There will be a huge mismatch every game somewhere. You can't cover up Boldin, Smith, Evans, Dickson, Pitta, and Ray Rice all game with great matchups

If they focus on the wide outs then the middle opens up for Boldin in the slot, the TE's, and dump off passes to Ray Rice. With burners on each side now, they can't shut down both sides even if they shut down the middle of the field. And then there is always the running game which the play calling has gotten back to as of late.

Should be fun to watch develop.

Have to take what is given, the 49ers linebackers are outstanding so Flacco took what was given to him. These guys have 655 yards and 4 touchdowns between them which is pretty good. They dont have brady throwing to them but as our field opens up with evans and Flacco continues his consistent play im looking for both these guys to have a huge rest of the season down the stretch. Hopefully Pitta's catch and his ability to use his big body leads to more throws to him in the red zone along with boldin and dickson.

The key to these players are the mismatches they create with LBs. I didn't expect them to be heavily involved in the passing game because the Niners have a great set of ILBs and the Ravens TEs are still too young to be expected to out perform them yet. However, I like how Joe Flacco read the defense and took what they gave them and delivered nice strikes to both Dickson and Pitta for crucial catches.

This is still "technically" their rookie years because they didn't play much last year due to Todd Heap still starting, but they're coming along nicely and developing well as a pair. Once their run blocking becomes better and they are able to become complete pass catching AND run blocking TEs we'll have two legitimate threats that you can utilize in multiple facets of offense with a dual threat double package. Will they pass/run block? Will they go out for a catch? Who will match up against them and who can we exploit? It allows you to come up with a creative gameplan that can confuse the opposing defenses.

They both have talent and just need NFL experience to develop and create a repertoire with Joe Flacco. They should only get better and improve the future offense.
