Yes yes yes, i know we're not there yet. But....


One simple question that i hope somebody can clarify.

on NFL.com, they list the #1 seed as the Pats and #2 as the Texans. Seeing how we have a better divisional record then the Pats and we beat the Texans...Um, why?

NOT to mention that we are #7 on the power rankings, behind 2 teams we have already beat (opinion generated i know, but still)

So whats the deal here, am i missing something.

Why are we not the #1 seed right now, or even #2 (behind the pats)?

If we win out, we get the #1 seed. Its as simple as that. 6 games, 6 wins. We truly do control our own destiny. Now this team doesn't like that so they'll probably find a way to lose a game or two down the stretch.

Because it is a 3 way tie (as far as record) head-to-head tie breaker does not apply. Divisional record does not apply because we are not all in the same division. So it comes down to Conference Record. NE's percentage in the Conference is better than ours. As is the Texans. So currently we sit at #3. I figure the Texans to take a few losses without Schaub for sure. We just have to keep winning. It is what it is. Hopefully someone hands NE a loss.

Actually we are ahead of the Texans because of head to head, NFL.com has it wrong. But the Pats are currently ahead of us, but like other people said if we win out we go to #1.

I know. I've answered the same question like 15 times already. It was the same thing two weeks ago with the division rankings.

I answer them. But frankly I don't understand what the point is. We still have 6 games.

Me too. We lost to the Jags, Titans and Seahawks. All three games we could have and should have won. We should be right up there with Greenbay. But no.

The sad thing is. As much as we talk about winning out and getting the #1 seed. One loss could be huge. One loss means we could lose control of the division (if the Steelers win).

Yeah, that sucked. But at the end of the day, they were obviously the better team. We had a rookie QB and coach, while they had Ben, and a better defense.

Definitely shouldn't be this uncomfortable after we swept them. But maybe this will keep us focused when we play teams like the Colts and Browns. Or at least I would hope.

Actually I hate the all black uniforms. Why? Because the posters on here drive me crazy asking about them all the time. Or about how awesome we look, or that they give us swagger?

How does common opponents tiebreaker work?

Example...

(assume both teams have identical records at season's end, and it comes down to common opponents tiebreaking step)

If the Ravens had lost ONE game against the Steelers, and the Patriots had beaten the Steelers... how do you choose which game between the Ravens and Steelers you use for the tiebreaking purposes? Do you use the Ravens win or the Ravens loss?

Assuming the Patriots and Ravens both won all their other common games...(this year it would be Jets, Chargers, and Indianapolis).
