I just dont think Cary has played all that well this year. He has been pretty good and made some nice plays at times, but he has also given up most of the TDs our defense has allowed through the air. Antonio Brown abused Cary as did Britt and Simpson. Granted those are all quality WRs, but I have yet to see Webb get beat like Cary has repeatedly this season.

I definitely agree. Everyone is pretty hyped up about Cary, but in my opinion Webb has been far better. Sometimes Cary will make a great play on the ball, knocking it out of the receiver's hands, but then on the next play he will be badly beaten. He has been very inconsistent.

I understand that this is Cary's first year as a starter, but that shouldnt be used as an excuse for his inconsistent play. Cary earned the starting role, regardless of his experience, so he needs to play like a starter. He has been good, and sometimes he make a brilliant play, but other times he gets badly beaten.

As Cary gains more experience, Im sure he will become more consistent. But he has work to do before he becomes a consistently good corner.

Right now, Jimmy is fine at #3. We rotate our CBs so he'll see plenty of playing time. His level of play will determine if he knocks Cary out of his starting spot. Really though, the way we rotate I think they will all see their playing time.

I wonder who's going to get the assignment on SF's WR K.Williams. Apparently he has Torrey-like speed and had a good game last time out , working out of the slot mostly , I think.

Webb is no doubt a starter, and I chose Cary Williams right now..and he's only going to get better too...our CB situation is so nice

I think Jimmy Smith needs to be worked in, let him adapt to the Pro game...he made a nice play on that INT but then he fumbled it, luckily our guys got the ball....but then he got beat badly on that TD

He needs work..trust me, if we put Jimmy out there now he will get picked on all day long and his confidence will go in the tank

Cary hasn't been very good? Have you not seen all the passes he breaks up? That means he's always on his guy, he had 4 Passes Defensed against Seattle..or was that against the Bengals? idk

4??? thats a crazy lot

I'm glad someone else noticed this too. Cary is pretty good. He broke up a few passes to wallace this year, and saved a huge pass against seattle. Even when he gets beat, he seems to be on his man pretty good. When wallace did get that TD, it was only because roethlisberger had like 10 seconds to throw, and Cary still almost got a hand on it. Without Cary, our record WOULD be worse I can guarantee that.

Cary and Webb have been doing so good that there is no reason to rush Jimmy in there, and in the limited reps he did play he led up a HUGE TD to bring the bengals back closer...he still needs to learn

Its not an excuse, its just that that's what happen to most first year starters regardless of the position they play. We talking about a man that went from special teams to starter of the Baltimore Ravens sort of like over night. I mean, look how a lot of the other CBs look on other teams that's been starters for years ( look at the CBs that have got torched by Smith ). I understand wanting perfection but I feel we get a little to greedy living off moments of us having C-Mac along with Rolle and we are just spoiled. Like what's been accuratley pointed out, when Cary does get beat he be right there, not like he's getting schooled.

Work Jimmy back in having him playing wide on Nickel sets and if Jimmy is who we think he is, he will eventually take Cary or Webb's spot ( its hard to see Webb not being a starter so I guess it feels better to say " taking Cary's spot ).

This topic makes me laugh. All those who are down on Cary really have to watch the games closer. Use NFL rewind or something. This guy has been big for us this year. I wam not taking anything away from Webb either. I love me some Webb. But you have to realize Cary has been matched up against some very good receivers all year. Not to mention a lot of the plays that he so called gets torched on are broken plays where the QB has had a hour to throw the ball. It is extremely tough to cover a receiver for more than 5 seconds in this league.

That being said, I think we are sitting in a very very good position with our secondary. Think about it. I dont feel it would be out of the realm of possibility for the Ravens to have one of if not the BEST secondary in the league in the next couple years. We have four very young, very talented corners. We have a very stout strong safety that is playing incredible! Pollard is not getting the credit he deserves. Also im tired of hearing how he is poor in coverage and then watch him break up pass plays all day long. And to top it off we still have the best free safety to ever play the game.

We are blessed in the secondary. Not only are our corners playing very well in pass coverage. They are also Outstanding tacklers. Have you guys watched Webb and Cary? These guys are beast. Also it has become very evident that The JImmy is also not afraid of contact and his time here with the Ravens has shown with his tackle technique. After Ray, Both our corners lead the team in tackles. No, all those tackles are not after catch either. A lot of them are in run support. I would say right now I would put our corners up against any combo in the league when it comes to making solid tackles.

Mark my words. The Jimmy, Web, and Williams will make some noise in this league. As a unit, they will give QBs nightmares !

The future of the Ravens defense looks very bright indeed.

Thank you. I feel like with Webb playing so well, and an off game for Cary last week, people are down on him. I remember plenty of games when he saved our butts. And when we played offenses that aren't so hot (Jets, Seahawks, Jags, Cards) he barely let up any yards at all.

Never understood all the Cary love.

The Jimmy is The Future.
Jimmy time will come and we all know the upside that Jimmy brings to the table but............. Cary is playing damn good considering where he has come from in just over a year. Having 3 good CB's is a must anyway b/c most teams are going to have 3 WR's out there anyway.

Are you people kidding me, why would you want Jimmy over Wilson. Yes Jimmy got an Int. but he also got burned a few times. I was at the game, Wilson all day. Put Smith in nickel

Cary is a physical corner and is great with the press coverage. Yeah, he still needs to work on his technique. But he is still young. He and Jimmy can grow into Very very good press man cover corners. Just watch our secondary grow and blossom. These guys are gonna be great. Webb would be ideal in the slot. The man is a tackling machine and still fast enough to cover anyone.

I dont see why everyone needs to compare and say who should start over who. Trust me all three of these guys are gonna get plenty play time. This is becoming a pass happy league.

He's only had the opportunity to be tested/burned once this year. Keep Jimmy in the nickel, at least we know what we're getting with Cary.

I definitely want cary on the outside. What I would like is jimmy on the other side, and webb in the nickel where he would excel in blitzing.
