Haloti Ngata

What's going on with Ngata, is he injured or something. You rarely see any impact plays made by him anymore and with a improved pass rush with McPhee and Kruger, you would think Hgata would really be beasting. I haven't seen him blow up runs like he was earlier or anything, what gives?

They said he's had a large hematoma on his thigh.

any clue how long it'd take to heal? and is it really impacting his performance that bad?

It's a collection of blood that's leaked from the vessel, under the skin. It's like a more serious bruise, and more painful than a bruise.

It has to be b/c like someone mentioned before, he is 1 on 1 a lot of times and just not winning the battle.

yea, and he doesn't seem to be able to do much more than jog on the field. I can't wait for him to get better, so T-Sizzle can get free again.

Yikes, googled some pics and they look nasty.

While there are no gimme games in the NFL, I wouldn't be opposed to letting him rest for the game in Cleveland
Be a nice long break after Thursday night

since its a large hematoma and he's still playing,it can become worse then what it is,There is no way to know for sure just how long it takes for a hematoma to heal as everyone heals differently.
Because of the tenderness and burning sensation I think you are expecting more to be wrong

There is no way to tell just how big the hematoma is and to what extent the muscles, nerves, and veins are affected so it is hard to give an exact answer to your question.

A hematoma is a "bruise" very much like a bruise when you fall and bump your knee or head or elbow and just as the bruises on knees, heads or elbows go away by absorbing into one's tissue so does a hematoma but since it is usually larger than most
"brusies" it takes longer to absorb.
I think if there were infection you would see and feel a noticeable
"hardness" ,extreme redness and alot of "heat" at the injection site.
Using warm compresses would encourage blood flow and increased blood flow would encourage healing so this might be an option for him,he could end of having to have surgery and if thats the case he will be out at least 4 months

Yeah, Ngata's been playing hurt, and it's simply an unfortunate coincidence that it occurred after he signed the big contract... he'll get back on track soon enough.

Its like a big deep tissue bruise. They can last weeks, months or even years. My girlfriend had one around her knee from a car accident we were in, and you could see that thing almost a year after the accident.

I can tell you this, I've had one.... far worse then Ngata , i'm sure. I got hit by a 78 F150. I had to have surgery to put a drain into place and remove the necrotic tissue. It hurts, but not the worse thing I've ever went though in life ( I had pinctured lung, broken ribs, broken pelvis and hip, lacerated spleen...etc). He'll improve weekly.

So he wasn't making big plays like usual, he was our only defensive lineman who wasn't getting blown off the ball by the Bengals oline, Redding and Cody were getting mauled.

TRUTH!
There is definitely somehting going on behind the scenes with the rest to the D-linemen. Who knows they could have gotten a flu bug. Ask the Browns how crap can get passed around in a locker room.

Ngata has also been double teamed for a lot of games. Either way we need him to help shore up the runn game on Thursday.

I think he will

no. I was on the side of a road loading ATV's on a trailer...drunk ran off said road and directly up the ramps of the trailer and into my body.

Knicks and scrapes will add up during a season. We'll have over a week off for him to get treated after this game. I'll take Ngata at 75 percent over most of the NFL at 100 percent.
