So Who Should Be At #2 Wideout

25 posts in this topic

Lee evans or torrey smith i think evans should be moved back to number 2 which to me is a no brainer to me this would make torrey smith even more effective because he would be the third wideout so when he comes in it would be vs 3rd corners and he could fly pass them easy for the deep bomb. Evans i think should be back to number 2 because we all know he has the pontential to light up deffenders by him going back to number 2 it would teach the rookie more and keep him fresher and it would give flacco more time to connect with him on deep bombs and to get a rythm going . I think it would get the passing going the way they want flacco to have it going ... What you think ?

Lee Evans is going to be around a while, he was the #2 guy but when he got hurt Torrey got valuable experience, no doubt about it

But, I think Lee Evans will be a threat in the coming weeks once has and Joe get back on the same page....our offense has potential to be the most explosive ever with two speed guys on the outside, Boldin, Pitta, and Dickson in the middle and oh yeah...dont forget Ray Rice

I don't think we're going to fool anyone by calling Torrey our #3 and bringing him off the bench. Teams will defend against him as they see fit , not as we'd like them to.

When Evans is fully up to speed , we need to use more three WR sets , with Boldin mostly in the slot. Evans and Torrey can fill similar roles , while Boldin will still be the go-to guy in clutch situations , if he's not swarmed with coverage.

Go what withs workin and Flacco to Torrey Smith works. I expect Evans to get more and more involved as the rest of the season goes. I'm actually happy that we're able to get a rookie wide receiver extensive playing time and be productive. Hes getting better week to week and i'm sure the organization is happy as well with how hes playing. I dont think Evans will get as many snaps as Smith in 2 receiver sets but I expect us to run more 3WR sets going forward as Joe get more comfortable with Evans on the field. Evans was traded mid-preseason and suited up for 3 games now...I dont expect him to have the chemistry Joe has developed with Torrey at this point in the season but I expect it to get better week to week.

Torrey has that #2 spot until Evans shows the coaches why he should be the #2.

i like this but at the same time the job was clearly evans coming into the season now the rookie has played good a few games but evans is kinda already proven in the nfl so u already know what he brings also if he doesnt get the chance he never can prove but i think its fair to say the rookie doing ok but evans is right now the better reciever giving a few more games and some play time should prove he is more experienced ..

I think it's more that Lee needs to show he's fully healthy and on the same page as Joe and the rest of the offense. Torrey has had 10 games with Joe, Lee has only played in three games and started one of them. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to suddenly take Torrey off the field in favor of Lee when we don't know where he is physically or mentally (meaning how up to speed with the rest of the offense) Lee is.

it does because u already know wat lee brings to a team by him being on the bills he was injured so its time to give him a chance to show he deserves the number 2 spot i agree he needs to show hes back to normal and over his injury but u cant say he needs to earn his job back because the rookie has only been doing what hes doing for a few months while lee evans been in the leage for years .I think u do remove smith from 2 and start lee evans in for a few weeks to see how he plays mean while smith still plays by comming in on 3 receiver sets he can still contribute and help the offense .

Jesus is that even english?

Evans has been in the league for years, but we don't know how much chemistry he has with Joe, which is everything. Q was a known entity, but Joe didn't fully trust him until the Arizona game this year. Torrey has already built up a rapport with Joe and is having one heck of a season.

Boldin #1
Torrey #2
Evans #3

Simple as that. Torrey has earned his way into the starting line-up.

torrey is on the same page now with joe and look what he has done the last few weeks. it is not even a question who should be the number two behind boldin. but they should be on the field in the same time. that would be nice to see...

You cant take out Torrey after he's been playing very well, just because Lee is "supposed" to be our #2. Torrey had definitely earned the #2 spot, and I wouldnt want to see Lee in the #2 spot until he earns it back.

exactly. there is no need to push lee in for torrey! but you can give torrey some rest every once in a while to keep him fresh and let lee open up the field...

There's no doubt in mind that Torrey Smith has earned the #2 spot on the team thus far this year. I would love to see more three wide receiver sets that would allow Lee Evans to show what he's got, and also to see him spell Torrey Smith so that they are both fresh all game long. I feel like that's a pretty fair way to evaluate if Evans is the better option.

Another important consideration in which player benefits the team more as #2 is continual benefit. Torrey Smith is a young guy who we all hope will be a Raven for life. Every play he's out there learning to be a better player and developing chemistry with Joe Flacco is gonna pay off for the next ten years. Evans will be here three or four years tops and then he'll either move on to another team or retire. That's not alone enough of a reason to play an inferior player, but if you see it as basically a push then I would rather see Torrey on the field learning.

Exactly! Smith has taken advantage of his "next man up" opportunity and imo the 2 spot is his to lose.

This is just disrespectful to Torrey. The dude goes off for 6 catches of 165 yards and a score and you want Lee Evans who has had 2 catches all year?!

At this point it's Torrey. I would think that in 3 wr sets, Joe is going to trust Torrey more anyway.....so it's Torrey!

I get what you are saying but Torrey isn't losing his job. Lee will take over for Laquan but the way our tight ends are playing he will barely touch the field.
