"It will take a miracle turnaround for Norv Turner to be the coach beyond this year," said Acee on NFL Network's Around the League segment on Monday. The Chargers have dropped five straight games and are in last place in the AFC West. ESPN's Jerry Rice also blamed Turner for the Chargers' 2011 collapse on SportsCenter Monday. "Norv Turner is one of those coaches that just can’t you over the hump," Rice said. "I played under this guy." The Chargers appear headed for their second straight playoffs-less season.

So, is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking? Cam out, Norv in? Let me know.

That is the dream scenario. There would be less learning curve because, if I'm not mistaken, he runs a version of the Coryell. The main difference is that he runs it with a brain, although this year is not the best year to be saying that...

He sucks as a head coach, but he'd do wonders as an OC. Kind of like the McDaniels situation.. too much power

Norv Turner would be an upgrade over Cam for sure, but I was reading an article by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports who mentioned that Cam and Norv have both drawn criticisms for sticking to a gameplan through the entire game, and not making adjustments to the gameplan as necessary. That is my only concern. Nevertheless, I would take him over Cam without hesitation.

Norv was a disaster in Washington as a head coach, we need a 'fresh' face I think.

Yeahh... And you can't say he fared much better in San Diego; the roster he has in his possession can contend for the AFC Championship year in and year out. With that being said, I might like the idea of him as an OC seeing as that would eliminate some of the boneheaded moves he makes.

I think being a HC gives him too much responsibility, and its more than he could handle.

Hes very similar to Wade Phillips. Give him responsibility for 1 side of the ball, and hes one of the best in the NFL.

Some team will be very lucky to have his services as OC, and I really hope that team is us.

Agreed. There is no doubt that he would be a major upgrade over Cam, so I'll take him.

This.

I'd love to have Norv to as our OC.

I'm a little hesitant to suggest we would replace Cam with Norv because not only of the concern that he doesn't adjust gameplans very well (which is a current concern we have with Cam) but we would be repeating history because we got Cam Cameron after he was fired from being the Dolphins HC. Are we as fans going to be calling for Norv's head three years down the line because we still think our offense is shackled by our OC?

Adam Schefter just posted this on his Facebook Page..... sounds like a House Cleaning in San Diego! Not only will Norv be gone, but AJ Smith could be gone too!

Yeah I saw him tweet it earlier. Not really a surprise after what's been going down in SD this season but it's good news for us nonetheless.

Norv Turner has a team built as a contender year in and year out, yet he can never seem to finish the job with his team. He will be on a lot of team's lists for Offensive Coordinator/Head Coach. Yes, I would be extremely excited for him to come to Baltimore to send Cam out, but I know some team will HEAVILY overpay him that isn't the Ravens.

I will take Norv Turner ASAP. He knows how to run an offense and his are usually in Top 5 every year, he is just inefficient at motivating his players and teaching them fundamentals and thus isn't a a good HC so his teams fall apart.

But as a coordinator he won't have to watch over a whole team and his job is to make sure he utilizes all the talent properly and runs a smooth operating machine. Since he is familiar with Air Coryell and Cam Cameron has worked under him, the transition should be VERY smooth because of his experience with the system and he can make some tweaks and changes. He could take Joe Flacco into the next stage of development and improving as a QB.

According to NFL.com, Chargers' president Dean Spanos "has no choice" but to fire Norv Tuner at the end of this season. An anonymous team source was quoted as saying that no final decision has been made "but everything is lined up." There are still a few more games left in the season, but it sounds like "that's all she wrote" for Turner. It comes as no surprise, but still it's one thing to talk about the possibility of Norv Turner's availability, and another to have a credible source all but confirm it. I know Jamal has been pretty vocal about the possibility of making Turner our next offensive coordinator. Of course, it would all depend on what happens in the playoffs this year for us i.e. I would anticipate changes being made if we failed to advance pass the divisional round for a 3rd straight year, especially if it was because of the offense. That would make it 4/4 that offensive problems bounced us from the playoffs in the Harbaugh/Cam era, and I'm pretty sure the point was made last year that this would be Cam's last shot. Still, it's nice to know that there are upgrades that could be available should a change need to be made.

Still can't believe they got rid of Marty Schottenheimer after a 14-2 season. How's that working for you San Diego?
Yep, that began the downfall of San Diego and now here we are and a full house cleaning is going to happen. Not only should they get rid of AJ Smith but also bring in a new scouting department. Their Drafts picks have been horrible recently and right now, they need more than a new Head Coach and a new GM.

By the way... Apparently Buffalo and Jacksonville didn't like what I did in the Mock Draft so they got rid of me lol, so I'm Available San Diego, so feel free to call for that vacant GM Spot! jk.

Sad about Marty though. The guy couldn't find a job for 5 years and now he's coaching a UFL team.
I thought he retired.

I find it hard to believe no team in the NFL could use Marty.
