Its cute to act like Smith being better than Wallace at some point is far fetched! I mean, its not like he's on pace to torch Wallaces rookie season by a few hundred yards and a couple TDs :D

Tyler, Torrey is already putting up better #s than Julio by a large margin, Julio really has only had the Colts game where he blew up and was a big part of his offense. He is also only about 50 yards and 1 TD behind Green in production, with 12 fewer catches, meaning his YPC is off the chain compared to Green's. All 3 rookies are going to pan out as huge weapons for their teams, but if Torrey keeps up the pace he is on in the last 6 games, he will definitely be the best rookie receiver this year.

I don't know about that actually. Game speed is different than 40 speed. Torrey looks just fast if not faster than Wallace. Wallace has better hands and routes.. but Torrey is right on par with him in the speed category if you ask me. Wallace might accelerate better but i give the agility to torrey.
To me, Wallace is slightly faster. But regardless, the way Torrey accelerates when tracking deep passes or how he pulled away from Pacman in the Bengals before being brought down by his hair is just amazing.

Im not even talking about being a beast or not. He's classless and is a real POS!
To Call Desean Jackson a Classless POS is beyond absurd. You obviously didn't see the segment on ESPN about him and Nadin Khoury.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=6120346

Sure, Jackson does his fair share of showboating, but he is one of the nicest players I have had the chance to meet. A lot of people think Chad Ochocinco is a classless jerk, what they don' t know is how much he does for his fans and community.

One mans opinion...my best friend is from Philly and has tried to convince me that Jackson is some saint as well. I don't buy it! They all (well, most) have charities and give back in some form. What I hear and see on the field is not class. Sorry....

Ha, when it causes TD's to be reversed and plays to be negated, I love it too. I laugh at how boneheaded this dude is!!

Agreed. DeSean cost his team 51 yards on one play because he is so full of himself (he just can't help it). That is why the Eagles are full of individuals instead of being a team.

Everyone has a right to their opinion.... but He didn't just donate to some charity or give this kid a jersey and leave in his limo. He gave this kid his personal cell phone and still keeps in contact with him. Not to get off topic... just saying

I like Smith, but it's a little early to say whether or not he'll be as good, better, or not as good as Wallace. Wallace is in his third season. He's on pace to blow out his previous career numbers (from last year). He's still getting better as a receiver.

Smith is a rookie. He's done an amazing job considering he's a rookie, and I think the steps he's taken as a rookie strongly suggest he'll continue to improve.

Smith does have a bigger frame than Wallace. As noted upthread, if he can keep his speed while increasing his size and strength, he's going to have the chance to be an all-around wide-out, capable of catching the ball anywhere on the field and making plays.

I hear ya...I know all about what he does. Its just my opinion that the leaving the ball at the half yard line, falling backwards into the EZ, flipping the ball at someone on the sidelines, cart wheels and the other things he does are unnecessary and make him a bit of a joke!

If Torrey gets better with his hands and catching the ball, Torrey can be one of the great ones because of his break away speed

If you watch his TDs...he is running with the DB but when the ball is in the air Torrey hits another gear and pulls away

It is not really accurate to compare rookie number because Wallace was WR3 behind an 1167 yard receiver (Ward) and a 1248 yard receiver (Holmes); Smith is a starter. Both receivers are very fast and would be a welcome addition to any team.
That being said I believe Antonio Brown has more potential than Wallace and may be the Steelers WR1 someday.

Torrey Smith is much faster than his 40 and college tape suggested. I thought he was slower than Wallace but he showed a comparable elite burst against the Bengals and elite acceleration and speed against the Rams. Analysts are now saying he can outrun any corner.

I ws actually in a competition for pick "your teams" draft and I was happy when I got the first 2 rounds correct. I was glad they took Torrey in the second! I think he's going to come out #1 or #2 of this years draft class (if he's 2nd it will be behind AJ Green).

As for the Mike Wallace comparision...I think Torrey is a touch faster on the deep routes. Even all the analysts agree that he is faster than his posted 4.4 time, they are all suggesting that he's closer to a 4.25

Not that any of this matters as it's a matter of .xxx of a second...what matters is he has the speed to beat any DB in the league.

Which is why he is on pace to TORCH Wallaces numbers, as I stated.

He's run sub 4.4 second 40 before, his combine time is a little deceiving.
Torrey's game speed is faster than what his combine numbers were... just ask the Bengals.

Once Torrey becomes more consistent he can be as good as any WR in the league, imo

You can't teach speed....if he gets his hands right he will be dangerous for a long long time in Baltimore

I went on a big football forum and asked if Wallace was the fastest WR, nobody agreed. Jacoby Ford had the most votes with Torrey Smith surprisingly coming in second. DJax and CJ2K had one vote each.

Ha, and I continue my disdain for DeSean Jackson - http://sports.yahoo....urn=nfl-wp13013

On topic - Torrey Smith is the man and has a monster game on Sunday!
