Most Exciting Thanksgiving Slate In Years, Thanks To ... The Lions!

7 posts in this topic

Every year for over a decade, it seems like, we've all been saying Turkey Day football is terrible, because the Lions are always playing, and they usually play the Packers. I've watched first Favre and then Rodgers shred the lions year after year, and hoped that the NFL scheduling gurus would finally put us all out of our misery and stop giving games to the Lions. But this year is different. Their young qb Stafford is on fire, and their offense is lethal. Not to mention, they're going up against the best offense in the NFL. On top of that, both defenses have shown that they can be manhandled, which should make for an exciting offensive game. The second game pits Dallas against Miami, and while Miami has nothing to play for, they could end Dallas's playoff hopes. Dallas, in the meantime, started the season 2-3 and looked dead. They've gone 4-1 in their last 5 games and are now tied atop the NFC East with the Giants. And finally, the Harbaugh Bowl, pitting the new flavor of the NFL, Jim and the 49ers, along with a resurgent Alex Smith, against John and the Ravens, who have the mercurial talent Joe Flacco, a quarterback who at times this season has looked like Tom Brady, shredding the number 1 and number 5 passing defenses in the NFL, and leading comebacks two weeks in a row against Arizona and Pittsburgh, and at other times has looked terrible, such as in games against Jacksonville and Tennessee. Not to mention, everyone (except Suggs, that is) is wondering whether the Ravens' field general Ray Lewis will be suiting up for this one, and how he will look vs. the 49er's "Ray Jr.", Patrick Willis. I don't know about you guys, but this Thursday might be one of the most exciting days of the year for me, and not just because I love cranberry sauce.

With the Dolphins on a three game win streak the Cowboys/Dolphins game might be worth watching but we all know which game is is the biggest one of the day.

I'll admit that I do enjoy the Thanksgiving Day football, and while my digital cable has not been attached to the converter box, I am hoping for the Lions to really put the Packers' plan for an undefeated season on hold.

A thanksgiving game in Detroit with meaning for a change...Lions are playing very well and the fans will be pumped up...I see the Packers dropping their first game on thursday.

I would actually agree with that especially the way Packers Defense has been playing but I think the Pack Offense can outscore the Lions in a shootout in Detroit and come out with the win.

Packers 42
Lions 38

I also think the Dolphins and Cowboys game will be interesting, Cowboys need the win to help them win the NFC East, especially since the Giants are in their little down hill slide they go on every year and the Dolphins under Matt Moore is a completely different team and I think they could pull it out. Plus... the Ravens are on Thanksgiving so that makes Thanksgiving more exciting... ;)
