Our defense will handle Alex Smith and Frank Gore.

Its that stingy run defense and pass defense of theres that scares me. Don't really like situations where we have to rely on Flacco to carry the offense. The run game will be ineffective.
[/quote]

I'm much more worried about our D. The D is in a real slump and needs to wake up. And it's not due to Ray's absence.
Chuck and Co.; Fix it please!

I agree that we'll have tough sledding with the run, but I have full confidence in Joe to get it done. Other than the one pick yesterday, he looked very good.

49ers have the number 1 run defense by about 10 yards less per game 73yards allowed rushing they are very effective defensively Willis will almost make Rice disappear i have a feeling. Their defense is playing very very well lead the league in points allowed. Offense is going to have daunting task to attack their secondary but we cannot become 1 demensional with pass only hopefully we can get some decent runs to be effective with play action. Their special teams have won games and we have looked pretty shakey on ST this season. Aslong as we contain their rushing attack Hunter has played well when Gore is not in so both back are effective and make Alex smith throw the ball to move the chains i think our defense can be fast in the secondary like they played this week against Cincy.

I can breath a sign of relief that we play this game at home. This is a much tougher spot for the 9ers. Who have to travel coast to coast on a short week.

Typically short weeks hurts the defense more than the offense. As lack of time to learn and install a defensive gameplan is tough. Which IMO is better for us. We know we have the offensive firepower.

Like always. Don't fall in a hole early. This will play right into the 9ers strengths. Make the 9ers feel like they have to make big plays to win.

Spot on. We're very fortunate this game is at home.

Just thinking of the Smiths (Aldon & Justin) lining up opposite McKinnie makes me feel sick.

Flacco better grow eyes in the back of his head, because those are two of the top pass rushers we'll see this season.

Justin Smith is awesome. But I prefer McKinnie to take on a bigger DE then a speed rusher. Justin Smith is a big DE.

He's not big & slow though, the guy's a complete rusher and as stout a run defender as you'll find.

I don't understand why he's only starting to get some love.

I'm not saying he is slow and I am definitely not taking anything away from him. I love me some Justin Smith. Have for a long while. I'm just saying I prefer McKinnie to face a big body. Not a smaller DE.

They are sharp.

But to be frank, I could care less. I just hope they are the winning unis!

I don't think we can STOP Gore perse, but we can DEFINITELY contain the guy. Contain him, pressure Alex Smith, and our DB's will make big plays. This team is very beatable, even though they're just 1 loss deep so far.

I don't get psyched as most about uniforms.

They could come out in all pink uniforms wearing bonnets as long as they win.

Too true, but I do like the look of the all-blacks, but I really don't care what combination we use.

Thursdays game should be one heck of a battle. I don't think the 49ers are as good as their record. I am not trying to take anything from them but really they have only faced 4 teams that I would have given a real shot to beat them. Dallas, Cinci, Detroit and NYG, some might put Philli in here as well. They lost to Dallas and beat Cinci, Detroit and NYG the latter 2 in pretty close games. Beat Philli by 1 pt.

Aside from V.Davis, Gore and Crabtree (Hunter when he's in the game) I don't see alot of offensive firepower. I guess you can add Ginn Jr. in the return game who's always a threat.
The biggest diference in this SF team is Harbaugh has them believing in themselves.

The defense is the heart of this SF team, their front 7 are as good as any, and P.Willis is quickly becoming one of the best in the business.

This game is going to require another FULL 60 minutes of play from the Ravens, and the 1st Q is likely going to determine the outcome. Lets just hope we don't come out flat in the 1st Q.

I like the Ravens chances in this one....Ravens 24 - SF 20

The 49ers are rested after their cakewalk against the Cardinals yesterday. This is the same Cardinal team that gave us a fit for the first half of our game with them. Still, we are playing at home and should win this one. I hope the Harbaughs don't get into it after the game.

This is a good reason not to try to run straight up the middle on 3rd down.

I absolutely think that we can beat them. We are the type of team that they haven't faced so far this season.

They still had to play the game hard to get those points to win. They are just as much rested as us. Technically we are more rested as we finished our game 3 hours earlier.

Greetings everyone. Niner Fan since '87 but I must say I have a ton of respect for the Ravens year in and year out, usually pulling for them in the AFC. This should be a heck of a game on Thursday...seems like our teams are both evenly matched and headed to the playoffs. Hoping for a great game with NO injuries, unless Jim and John decide to go toe to toe at the 50 yard line. This should be our toughest game so far this year and I'm hoping to see A. Smith rise to the challenge and Frank run like a man possessed.

Thanks for allowing me to post here and GO Niners!!

as long as we take care of the football, do our jobs and execute like we know we can and should, then we will win this game, no saying by how much because its gonna come down to the wire i feel, with the defenes making or breaking a big play. Ill be watching Rice to see if his magic can continue into TNF, and Flacco... if he can avoid the COSTLY mistakes and just move those chains, id be happy with the W. Defensively im looking for the schemes to try to confuse Smith, with blitzes and zone coverages. a matter of mix and match, a chess match if you will. havent really watched game film on Smith to see what he does in and out of the pocketbut look for the ravens to force him into situations that make him feel uncomfortable.

we are now 57-1 when we have Plus two in the turnover category. that speaks for itself, defense needs to create turnovers in some form or another, we need to keep the ball in our hands.

I'll be at this game as well, and looking to see how each side of the football responds as teh game progresses

John needs to plant a seed of doubt in the minds of Jim and his team. Here's what I'd do : Have someone paint up a bunch of frozen turkeys to look like each member of the 49ers , and send them out to the corresponding players and coaches tomorrow , as a friendly and creative Thanksgiving gesture from the Ravens.

Then on game day , instruct all the Ravens to offer a nice Thanksgiving greeting to the opposing players when they first see them , saying "happy turkey day !".

Then proceed to stuff the poor suckers.
