Mount-Cody

Paul Kruger An Elite Pass Rusher In The Making.

59 posts in this topic

Today's win was like a weight lifting off my shoulders, great win. OK now I made this topic because I noticed (and I'm sure everybody else is to) that Kruger is consistently getting to the QB, It's like every play he's in on there is absolutely going to be pressure on the QB. His pass rush moves are so quick and fluid, and they almost work every time. (especially his spin move....NASTY!) But anyway I just wanted to give Kruger some credit for what he's been doing for all these weeks, I hope he continues to improve, and cause Nightmare on Elm street, that's around the edge to be exact!

I wonder if it's Pagano's influence, and I'm sure the move back to OLB helped a lot, but for whatever reason Kruger seems so much more comfortable and focused this season. You know he's spent the last 2 offseasons hearing whispers about how he was a bust from everyone, including me. I'm really glad for his sake that he seems to have turned it around this season.

I think it was the switch in DC, Mattison just didn't call up many pass rush plays, and he didn't even give Kruger a chance to show what he's got. Glad Pagano gave him a chance.

Kruger is playing some great football, and so is Pernell McPhee. If these two guys are the future of our pass rush, then I am pretty excited!

Proud of this kid, now Suggs needs to play at his level.

LOL, good one!

He's second on the team in sacks (4.5) and that is only to Suggs with 6. I like this guy, he is really showing his skills as a pass rusher. And McPhee is just another Suggs just younger, I see him developing into a monster.

Kruger has stepped his game up that is the truth, but to say suggs needs to play on his level i really hope that was a joke. I know this thread is about kruger but can we show some love for Mcphee too. Man is a beast always after it. 5th round steal In Ozzie we trust

suggs hasn't had a sack since the Cards.. and he got manhandled against the Bengals, he wasn't even being double teamed.
His only 2 FF came against Pitts week 1, and half his sacks came against Pitts week 1 to, which is his only multiple sack game. Dudes not playing at an elite level, same with Ngata

I agree with you. But I think you have to add Pernell McPhee to that. He shows in the few chances he gets to get on the field. I think Corey Redding is gone because of these young guys. But yes, Kruger gets to the QB and I like it. Ozzie has some decisions to make in the offseason. Kruger is in his final year of his rookie contract.

Hope, Ozzie resigns him cause Kruger and McPhee can be elite pass rushers for years to come.

Well, Suggs did get a sack today. But he hasn't gotten many lately. He's also playing on a slight knee injury. But I won't make excuses for him. He's the number one threat for us and that means, he's going to have to fight through double teams and schemes built to slow him down. If you're on the field you have to be effective. But I think Suggs will pull through this and show later in the year. Ngata had a deep thigh bruise but I will echo all I have said about Suggs for him. I think everything will slowly get better as teams have to pay attention to Kruger and McPhee.

Teams are consistently double teaming suggs and the 1st and 2nd down pass rush cant win one on one (Redding and JJ) but our 3rd down kids are killing people 1 on 1. I think Kruger or McPhee needs to be in on first and second down (unless it is short yardage). You can rotate which one but the first down pass is this Defense's achilles heal because we dont generate a pass rush. Suggs get a T and a TE/RB and then no one else on the field can win a one on one

he didn't have a sack, it was intentinal (sp) grounding :P

i guess that could explain some with Ngata, he hasn't been dominating as of late..

when did he get a sack? does that intentional grounding count as a sack for him?

Kruger has been more consistent in his pressures than Suggs has the past 4 weeks I'll give him that. But Kruger doesnt play the amount of snaps Suggs does either so he can just air it out on every pass down. Kruger seemed to get a little tired towards the end of the game, starting wearing down.

No doubt about those two. There are the future on the Dline. Ozzie his a pop fly homer with Kruger. It took us some time to see it. He hit a line drive screamer with McPhee. Immediate satisfaction on the 5th rounder.

Caused by Suggs. I am not sure but I think they give a sack for that. If not, it's just as good as a sack so he made a crucial play but I get what you're saying. He's not playing up to standard.

I thought it did. But I'm not sure. However, it had the same effect as a sack and Suggs caused it, so he did do something. It's just like he didn't get a sack in the game at P'burgh but he made a huge play to help win it. He isn't playing up to his full potential though. Maybe he needs to stop warring with Skip. ;-)

Ya they called it a sack
[/quote]

its not..look up the statistics for the game, theres a difference between grounding and a sack.

I'd pretty much written him off as a 2nd round bust, like Dan Cody, but Kruger has stuck with it, developed devastating moves to the inside and outside of his blocker and has played well above expectations. Nice to see.

Kruger has been very impressive, getting QB pressures but he and the other pass rushers need to start finishing plays more often with Sacks & Forced Fumbles....

Comparisons between he and Suggs and Kruger getting more consistent pressure than Suggs as of late is way off base. Remember Suggs early season was off to strong start with FF,Sacks, even INT. Suggs sees consistent double teams and TEs chipping him on every play... Kruger and anyone else opposite of Suggs benefits from him by getting single blocking.

Personally I just Kruger and McPhee to both get more playing time and continue to improve our pass rush.

Never thought Kruger was a bust. He never got pt. look at his first time playing against the Steelers in 09. He was a major reason we won that game. Before this year whenever he was given an opportunity he made the most of it either with pressures or plays made.
