It's gonna be ok. It sucks, but imagine if flacco and rice broke their ankles in a bobsledding accident.

That's bad luck , I hope you get to see a good game and a win to ease the disappointment.

Look for Ray on the sidelines. I'm sure he'll be working overtime to get everyone fired up.

Is this confirmed? It says he flew to see a specialist but he was at both pressers, and if it was on the injury report it would have been reported by someone other then the Carroll County Times.

Seems fishy to me.
Rotoworld and Pro football talk are both reporting it by citing the Carroll County Times as well.

Ray seemed fine at both the pressers, I hope this is one of those situations where he ends up playing some how.

CC times often breaks Ravens news first. NFL Network had it up not long after.

Don't.

I flew down from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to see my first Ravens game in Seattle last week.

Everyone here knows the result, and I spent a good chunk of change to do it... and I'd do it all over again.

Ray is a huge part of this team, but lets not forget about all of the other parts...

I think Flacco is going to put on a show on Sunday that you'll never forget, and this is the perfect time for Ngata to emerge as the next leader of the D..

(Insert something about Jamison Hensley during the FA feeding frenzy)

Sorry to hear that man, maybe he will still play somehow, I'm not sure. Looks like the Ravens & Bengals both could be without a big player on Sunday. Never want to see anyone hurt.

I'd pay big money extra to see JJ do Ray's dance.

Might not be a good idea , though. He'd probably hurt himself.

I think Ray Lewis is still a phenomenal tackler, and that's why he's above average in both pass coverage and pass rush: he uses great form and still has good closing speed. That said, I think this could contribute to a more aggressive game plan.

When the Bengals get behind and go 4-WR, I feel better about Zbikowski on Gresham than I would any of the linebackers. Suggs and Johnson will both end up guarding him some of the day.

Will this mean that McClain and/or Ellerbe is/are going to blitz a lot more?

On Tuesday Ray did his Turkey Drive (Pictures on yahoosports.com)

On Wednesday Ray had his presser and seemed fine. (Although he missed practice)

On Thursday Ray had another presser.

Did anyone ever ask him about his injury at any of the pressers? It just seems so random to find out about his trip to the toe specialist so late thursday evening/early Friday morning.

Well we get to see what the 2011 Ravens look like without Ray Lewis on the field. Will the defense fall apart without Ray out there? I really dont think so. I think T Sizzle and Haloti Ngata and Ed Reed are going to be hungry and they are going to go to war for their leader who isnt able to play. But Ray Lewis will still be there. He will be on the sidelines talking and studying and motivating. We'll be allrite. Oh yeah, Ellerbe was a full participant in practice this week so that will help too.

Oh right, forgot about the turkey drive.

I find it hard to believe he'd pick Monday, the film day, to go see a specialist if he was playing or not.

So when did he go?

Maybe I'm just skeptical, but this just feels off to me. Guess we won't know for sure until we get an official comment from the team. Or gameday.

We are so screwed as we have nothing at the ILB position.

This is where not grooming a replacement for Ray comes back to haunt us...
I think we will be fine honestly, we have Daniel Ellerbe , He has some talent (very underrated and under used), you cant deny that. Only thing that has kept him from playing more is because of the celebration in the endzone or should i say before the endzone, lol, last yr in the preseason, he's been in Harbs dog house ever since. We will of course be missing Rays leadership but Ed , Suggs and H.N will pick up the slack. Plus Dont forget about Jameel McClain, he has been a beast this yr.

Very excited about Ellerbe getting some playing time, plus McClain has a chance to step it up, its not like he already hasnt this yr. Hes been making a ton of plays.

I agree with you guys, Jameel has done outstanding this year, and it's gone pretty unnoticed on this board I think. I'm just worried we will have no one to diagnose plays before they happen. But I think we should still win.

This will be a good indicator of what is to come in our future when he finally leaves us. Not only that, but damn, we better look into what's coming up against SF.. that's a damn good team, and exploits teams weaknesses.

I think it's good strategy for the Ravens to wait this late to announce the injury. No point in giving your opponents a heads up before you have to. While he won't play, you know Ray is going to be a presence and the heart of the D on the sideline. The Ravens D will step up and they will dominate, I can feel it in my bones.

Aaron Wilson at CC Times is reliable and is constantly first with Ravens news
If he broke it I trust the source

This is terrible news, Harbaugh better swallow his damn pride and play Ellerbe, if he has ayanbadejo out there playing the full game i will go crazy. he is terrible and Ellerbe has so much potential....harbaugh better put the best player on the field and that is ellerbe...

Emotionally this will "suck" because I don't think Ray has missed a game since..2007? so I will miss seeing him on the field.

However...logically speaking I think it will be a good chance to see how the Ravens perform at the ILB position and just how comfortable they feel about it when Ray eventually retires. So it will be a good insight to whether drafting an ILB will be a top priority in the draft (which is my choice personally) and how Danelle Ellerbe performs because I like his potential.

I'm not worried that much about the defense because it's a veteran group and well still have guys like Suggs and Reed to call out the plays and make adjustments so it's shouldn't be below there normal standard; playing at home definitely helps as well.

Hopefully Ray Lewis recovers quickly but takes his time to make sure he is 100% heading down the stretch and making sure he's good to go for the eventual post season run because that's what counts. It's not a terrible situation and gives a time of evaluation with losing a crucial center piece of your defense which will eventually happen in the future..
