Interesting Note About The Bengals/Ravens Season Series

8 posts in this topic

starting in 2005 we have been swept by the Bengals in every odd year since so 2007,2009,2011???

I don't see it happening because Carson Palmer is no longer there but do you see it happening?

Honestly, the way their defense is playing anything can happen. After the loss to the Seahawks, all our losses coming against 4-3 teams and the past problems the team has had prior with the Bengals I have no idea. This seems like a game the defense will mostly have to win for us.

Pagano better have some crazy stuff ready for Dalton this Sunday, because if we win its going to be on the defense. Flacco cant read Cincy's cov 2 and our Oline hasnt been able to block their front 4 since 08 when they were a total mess.

I hope it doesn't happen. This is the only year that they have been pretty good in a while. It'll be a tough two games..

Well, didn't they sweep the division not so long ago?

That being said, the past is past. This is almost an entirely new Bengals team - like Americanmade said, no Carson Palmer. No Ocho, no TO, in fact even possibly no AJ Green, though he'd still be new to us. Andy Dalton and Jerome Simpson and Andre Caldwell and ... who? Hawkins? Who?

I don't really put much stock in that odd-year sweep thing, if that's even really a "theory." They swept us in 2005 - Ray was out most of that season, wasn't he? It's not surprising. 2006, I think we were the best team in the league, even though we laid an egg against Indy. 2007, well, we sucked in 2007. 2008, nobody had any idea who this Joe Flacco character was and we took them by surprise. 2009, they took everybody by surprise and rocked our world. 2010, Joe had the worst game of his career and we still almost won. Split the series, but we were the better team. 2011 ... we'll see. I think we're the better team, but that hasn't necessarily helped us yet.

Point is, new year, new faces, new chances. Past is past. Joe can't beat the Steelers under Roethelisberger either, remember? Let's light 'em up.

I think we'll light em' up. Don't feel like we are gonna lose to anyone in our division. They know that the playoffs are on the line, and they need some wins against these guys. I think they'll play pretty hard.
