So You Wanted A Positive Thread? 1 Thing Going For Ravens...

18 posts in this topic

There's one major thing the Ravens have going for them the rest of the season, and hopefully in the playoffs. No, it's not the schedule. It's this...

They haven't peaked yet!

We all know this team had no played its best football. The defense has had down games, and the offense and special teams have had even more.

But I think we all believe this team has the talent, where if they play anywhere near their best, they can win the Super Bowl. And that's probably why we've been so upset at the way the team has played so far, even with a 6-3 record.

Hopefully the Ravens end up getting really hot towards the end of December, and not only meet expectations many of us had back in September after that Week 1 smashing of the Steelers... but they also exceed expectation and do things we never thought we'd see in Baltimore. An offense scoring 30 points a game, and dominating time of possession... going on long calculated drives consistently. A defense that is back in 2006 form, completely shutting down anything the opponent tries to do, and making those patented game-changing plays. And a special teams that is, in fact... special.

Many of us have been disappointed, but I don't think any of us have given up on the team because we know this team is capable of so much more. We know they haven't peaked... and that is probably a good thing because if you peak too early, then there's almost always a let-down in the playoffs.

GO RAVENS!

Yup and 6-3 is nothing to complain about.

The team is mostly healthy.

Of the remaining games two opponents (whom we play twice) are very familiar.

There is a LOT to be positive about.

This team has a ton of talent. When firing on all cylinders, they're probably one of the most balanced teams in the league. Hopefully it all comes together and they win the big one.

Offense, defense, special teams, and coaching all needs to peak at the same time and go on a run.

Since when were we upset about the season? Sure, you can be upset about the loss, but 6-3 and the potential for first in the AFC pending a win next week sounds like a success so far. Plus we can at least get out of the season saying we swept the Steelers.

we're past midseason..we've peaked

You can peak at any time of the season. Some peak early and some peak late. Hopefully we peak NOW. No way can you say we have peaked. The superbowl team in 2000 peaked in the playoffs.

I think they peaked week one.

Week one was a offseason of anger and disappointment. Alot of planning and a whole new scheme Pittsburgh could not prepare for. Along with alot of new faces. Wouldnt consider it our peak.

For years this team has struggled to play well in all three phases at the same time. Even during blowouts in the 08 and 09 seasons, the offense was just serviceable while the defense shut things down, and we'd end up winning by about 20. Games like Pit in week one have been few and far between. I truly believe that if this team plays to it's full potential, it is the best in football. I'm sure a lot of fans think that about their own respective teams, but I think I'm more justified.

Way to be positive, I needed that! I've been trying to convince several friends and relatives that we are in good shape still, and all they can think about are the 3 stupid losses. Yes, I am depressed over the inept play calling and excecution we've seen, but no, this season ain't over yet! No other team in the AFC has less losses than the Ravens right now. We are in a good position to make a serious run.

I was going to say at least they were healthy but Rays supposedly out. Will be interesting though to see how the defense plays a key game without him leading.

We definately have not peaked on offense. There hasn't been enough time when we've had the entire Team at the line and there are so many new pieces. Hopefully the rise begins this week and continues upward.

The D may be diffrent story though. They played lights out for weeks during the beginning of the season. The failure during the last drive of last week's game is worrisome. Hopefully it was just an aberration and we come together this week, especially with Ray Ray's absence.
