"Newcomers" - Different Look?

24 posts in this topic

So far, this week, we've heard of Lee Evans practicing (5 days in a row with no set backs), Doss taking kick returner snaps and Pagano on record as saying Jimmy Smith "will see considerable playing time". Are we in for a new look Ravens? Can we get back to dominant football?

I never start new threads, but thought it was worthy to note that I feel the FO and coaching staff ARE making the adjustments to get better. We have lost 3 games that we, undoubtedly, should have won. BUT, we are 6-3 with another chance to take the lead in, not only the AFCN, but maybe even the AFC as a whole.

I have faith the Ravens will get back on pace this coming Monday! That is all for now...

Any change has to be good compared to last weeks performance right ? We need this win big time. Will be nice to see Doss and Evans out there. Evans seems to be the only one Joe cannot over throw.

What? You mean the coaching staff finally realized they have a 4th round pick on their roster that they have given ZERO opportunities to? Doss needs to be given opportunities in the receiving and kick return game, he excelled in both areas at Indiana.

New look? nah

Lee Evans has been bound to play, which will affect the game
Changing a KoR that has fumblitis to a newbie won't make or break us
and i think Harbaugh realized Carr isn't that great and we'd be better starting Smith

I think Jimmy Smith playing at a high level his full potential is vital for the Ravens defense. The ravens have 18 turnovers this year, which is in the middle of the pack. The problem is that we got 7 in the first game of the season. I'm obviously not saying that our defense is terrible or anything like that, but it is something that needs to change. I think having a shutdown cornerback like Smith could help with our turnover ratio on defense. Here's to hoping at least

Im very eager to see Lee finally play, and Jimmy finally gets some real snaps on defense. Plus if Doss is activated to return kicks, I'm sure we'll see him on the field for some offensive snaps. Good news all around.

Chris Carr is good -- he's just much better playing at nickelback than on the outside.

Jimmy will be our #1 cb soon enough and I think it starts with locking down against Cincy and really impressing the fans/coaches. We haven't had such an elite naturally athletic cb here EVER. CMac is the only guy that can compare and Jimmy is much faster and more athletic than Cmac ever was. What he did to Dwayne Bowe showed me pretty much all i need to see. Obviously he still has yet to go through the growing pains that rookies often do in the NFL.. but Jimmy is definitely a special talent and is gonna be the next superstar on our defense. I'll take Jimmy's skill set and frame over Revis and Aso. Only difference is those guys have the mental game down and know the ins and outs of playing cb in the NFL. Jimmy just needs the time investment to get to the next level. All the intangibles are more than present, he just needs to play.

Also thrilled about Doss being active and possibly doing KR. He's a ball player, flat out.

I am excited for this Sunday to see who actually has playing time. I am expecting to see JSmith out there and hopefully Lee in on a few plays. Whether or not Doss is in the action I cannot speculate because they have not officially said anything about him to my knowledge.

I was thinking this as well.

I am actually excited for Sunday. Hopeful that these guys can get some major playing time and we'll get a good idea of what we'll have down the stretch. Not to mention, very optimistic to wake up Monday morning back in first and #1/#2 seed in the AFC where we belong.

Another weapon for Joe with Evans...As long as he is not used as a decoy like week one.
[/quote]

It worked out pretty well for us, 35-7. I'd love to see him with some good catches and TDs, but if he has to be a decoy so we can get other guys open, that's fine with me. Whatever it takes to get that W.
