Dickson has the athleticism like Gates and Gonzalez and the potential is lurking.

Well Pitta reminds me of Witten.

That works both ways.

If anyone, Pitta reminds me of Heap, and not just because they were/are both Ravens. I really think Pitta will develop into a Heap type TE, while Dickson has the speed and the skills to be an Antonio Gates type TE, or at worst, similar to Brandon Pettigrew or Marcedes Lewis.

pitta has outstanding hands. that is why the comparison with witton works quiet well. dickson is more of a deep threat tight end like antonio gates. that is why people compare the two the to those mentioned ones. it is a little early to call one of them the next wit ton or gates because especially gates revolutionized the TE position. but you can tell that they both have a lot of potential. at the end of the day only time can tell how those two end up.

it is great, having them on the team though!!!

I do agree that Pitta is more of a prototypical TE, but Dickson has good hands and is faster than Pitta. Plus I think Dickson is a better blocker. While his hands arent as good, and he doesnt run routes as well, I see Dickson as more of a playmaker as a reciever. I would slightly prefer Dickson over Pitta.

I have to weigh in on this debate. Those of you that keep saying Dickson is faster than Pitta, where do you get your info from? Go back and check the NFL combines. Pitta beat Dickson in every running event and it wasn't close. The only event Dickson beat Pitta in was the vertical jump and it was close. Matter of fact Pitta was first out of all the T-ends in the combines in all all three shuttles and finished third in the 40 and the guy that finished first wasn't even a T-end. So please just because Cam has a love affair with Dickson does not make him faster or better than Pitta. By the way I read a bio on Pitta and saw that he was a track star in high school in California. The guy can run, Cam just needs to give him routes he can prove it.

Okay. I just want to add that I like the idea of using both of them. Heap was banged up a lot during his career here. It's like having 2 good running backs. Both players have potential to be outstanding in the NFL. I don't see them achieving the dominance of Gonzales or Gates yet but who know for sure how they will turn out. I just hope that we don't lose one of them in free agency.

I am tired of hearing the, "40 speed isn't game speed argument too." What a joke. So all the experts just have them run it for fun at the combines then huh? You must have overlooked the three shuttle runs too. What are they for, to see who can pickup grass the fastest? The 40 and the shuttles are tests for speed and quickness. Dickson wasn't even in the top four in the combines in these. Not saying Dickson isn't quick but he is not quicker than Pitta and even if you think so it is so close you can't say Dickson is faster than Pitta. Maybe Dickson is faster than Pitta in the 100 but they never test that because it doesn't equate to game speed. Huummmm I wonder which tests do? This has all to do with Cam's love affair with Dickson. If he would use the T-Ends like NE does we would be un-stoppable.

Yeah. They definitely do it for fun. Frank Gore ran a 4.66, have you seen him play? He runs straight past guys, and straight though them for that matter. Ed Reed ran a 4.57. Suggs ran a 4.65. The 40 time is important, but VASTLY overrated. I don't care how fast you can run in a straight line with no pads and no contact. And, Dickson is a ton faster, quicker, and stronger than Pitta. The only two things Pitta has over Dickson is hands and route running. The 10 yard and 20 yard split are a lot more important than the 40 time itself. If the 40 time actually mattered Darius Heyward bey would be a pro bowler.

I see Pitta has a Heap clone, and Dickson as a Vernon Davis type tight end. Pitta's a better route runner and has better hands, but Dickson is faster, a lot more athletic, and a bigger playmaker.
