Ed Dickson

I know we are sort of interchangeable at the TE position playing them in different formations and using two TE formations but I have to say Dickson made a strong case to still be the #1 TE. He had 10 catches for 79 yards and two TD's ( I have him in fantasy but I also have Daniels but since Schaub is out, I'm going with Dickson the rest of the way ) . Cam need's to utilize him more b/c he has the tools to be a top TE in this league and he seems to have the will and it can really open up things on the outside. What do you guys think?

i think you hit it. we have to use them boths by their strengths. pitta is at best at short routes and is excellent at catching the football. dickson is very fast for a te and also catches quite well. he opens the field. they both developped their blocking game so that´s no longer an issue. the key is to really use them. i think you could compare the te situation to the situation they have in ne. pitta is like gronk and dickson is the more wr like runner as hernandez. they use them perfectly. we should learn from them!!!

Last week Dennis Pitta was the better of the two, this week Dickson looks more attractive of the two

They both should play a big role in the offense, Cam is finally starting to use them more and Joe is finding them...this is what I've wanted the entire season. But now that we are using both TEs its like Cam can't handle a lot at once and he forgot all about the running game

I think Cam got too excited about finding any kind of a semblance of a passing attack this year, so he's trying to keep it going, while at the same time forgetting about our roots as an excellent running team. If he would balance the attack out more, we'd have a dynamic offense IMO..... but I have extremely little to no confidence that Cam will do this.

Another reason these teams can have success against our defense is because we give them more opportunities to get it going, because we have shut down the run game we no longer control the clock, when we used to go on 7 and 8 minute drives that limits the amount of times their offense sees the field, having a passing game is good, we know we can get that going, now we have to get the run game back

dickson can do things pitta can´t and vice versa. could both be starters in my eyes...

They both could be starters but Dickson had some drop balls this season and it kills an offense. But we have to understand he'll be a helluva TE in years to come. Both of them will be fun to watch

Yea, Pitta has some saweeet hands. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think he has a legit drop this year. Dickson did have some tough drops on some tough balls but he had some bad drops as well.

I still think they both need to be utilized often though like NE does with their TE's.

Ive said this before: there is no need to crown either Dickson or Pitta the starter. If we use them the way that New England uses their young TEs, we will add a whole new dimension to our offense.

I agree , I think we could do the same thing NE does. When your TEs are a threat, that makes it hard on any D, especially Ds that like running the Cover 2 where the two safeties are defending the two Deep halves. I think we won't have to worry about Cam not utilizing our TEs anymore.

I think he is a great TE. He was the only guy that did it big in our game against Seattle. He has the potential to be one of the best TE's for sure. I wanted to pick up Dickson in fantasy.. but I have Gronkowski.. so that won't be happening. Lol.

....and why is that? Saying you would take Pitta over Dickson is one thing but to add without hesitation is another. Obviously, the coaching staff doesn't see it that way and he's still #1 on the depth chart.

Pitta isn't as strong as Dickson in terms of blocking. I see Pitta get blown backwards a lot.

Which is the reason Dickson is looking better. Make Pitta the #1 TE, and I'm pretty sure he becomes Flacco's security blanket.

Dickson is more of hybrid WR/TE.

Pitta is the prototypical TE in the NFL, runs better routes, and has better hands.

I do agree that Pitta is more of a prototypical TE, but Dickson has good hands and is faster than Pitta. Plus I think Dickson is a better blocker. While his hands arent as good, and he doesnt run routes as well, I see Dickson as more of a playmaker as a reciever. I would slightly prefer Dickson over Pitta.

Dickson has the athleticism like Gates and Gonzalez and the potential is lurking.

Exactly, 6'4 6'5 250 lbs lots of potential. Everytime hes on the feild I cant shake the feeling that hes going to be great
