Cut This Guy Fire That Guy !

25 posts in this topic

Okay there is a lot of talk on here about cutting and firing various people in the organization. But do at least me a favor come up with a solution.
For example, there is a thread here about cutting Billy Cundiff. (roll eyes)
Who would we replace him with?

David Reed.
Who would we replace him with?
Granted I agree with the fact that David Reed should never return a ball ever again, and at least there are other options on the team for returns, thankfully.

Cam? Now it seems there are a LOT of people here who insist they can do a better job than Cam Cameron. I am assuming each of you have sent in your resume and arranged for an interview right?
I am not a Cam fan either, but to the best of my knowledge at this point in time there are no proven options worth perusing.

So any way rather than pointing out the problems, which is easy, we ALL can do that.
What solutions exist ?

While David Reed can be easily replaced by Laquan or Doss, people on this forum are getting out of control with the calling of firing people. I have seen firing Cundiff, Harbaugh. Reed, Cam, LeVoir, and Flacco. Things get pretty crazy on here after a loss lol

If your initials are CC you should be cut and or fired. At this point I don’t care who you call in to replace Cam he has never impressed me. I blame him for all three losses and it wasnt untill this game untill I saw Joe brush him off on the sidelines which I loved. Chris Carr also needs to go I have no idea why we signed him to that contract extension at the being of the season. Carrs coverage skills are weak he is always at least three yards off the WRs when they catch the ball. Jimmy needs to play more and Cary and Webb are playing great football.

I don't think we should cut this Billy who had a pro bowl season last year. Signing him long term was kind of a mistake we should've waited to see how he did this year before we just throw money at him. D Reed i think was leading NFL in kick off return average but he shouldn't return kicks for at least a couple of games. They just have to play better as should our whole team we are just to dang inconsistent. And for Cam I wanted him fired after last season for sure but right now if we fire that would be stupid but maybe after the season is over if we are not above at least 15th best offense. You also have to add in its not like Flacco is amazing either he is overthrowing, underthrowing whatever plus no run game to help him.

Come on. Sure, Harbs, Billy and Flacco are absurd...but when your pro bowl RB runs 5 times for 28 yards (which by the way is better than 5 yards per carry) it's time to reconsider, at the very least, your coordinator.

Lol, people don't seem to handle negativity well.

I don't see a reason for cutting any of them to be honest. Cam will be gone after this season assuming we don't win the superbowl. The only real solution I have is to sign a long kicker just for the long fgs, and keeping Billy for kick offs and inside 45.

Replacing a backup is relatively easy. Replacing a coordinator or an incumbent starter, not so much.

Everyone always wants a scapegoat and someone on which to displace their anger. David Reed is the easy one from Sunday. Cam Cameron's been the easy one all season. Whether everyone is right or wrong doesn't matter because big moves aren't made until the offseason anyway. That's how winning teams find consistent success.

That said, replacing David Reed wouldn't be a big move. Replacing Cam Cameron would. While I agree that replacing Cam is the right move, doing it right now puts the team back at square one with a new offense to install. I'd rather have growing pains in the offseason and the early part of the year than in the middle of the playoff race.

I would replace Cam before midnite and replace him with an OC by committee , consisting of Harbs and our other offensive coaches , and supplemented with info gleaned from a Ouija board and the Psychic Hot Line.

No wholesale changes in our O scheme has to occur immediately. Game strategy and implementation of the scheme would change immediately. Look to hire a good QB coach for Joe , ASAP. If he also has promise as an OC , he can gradually assume the duties of the OC committee. If not , we get our OC after the season.

Firing Cam now is what they call addition by subtraction. There's no downside.

Replacing Cam Cameron is actually pretty damn easy.

At this point I'll take the offensive meetings coffee guy from the Green Bay Packers. Anything to get a taste of that beautifully ran offense her in Baltimore.

Fact: There is NO reason that Joe Flacco can't play as good as Aaron Rodgers. He has a strong arm, throws tight spirlas, doesn't get rattled, can move around the pocket and extend plays with his feet, and most importantly can win big games.

The Packers do not have "outstanding receivers" in a sense that they have tons of pro bowlers. They have an extremely dominant #1 that demands double teams, a clever veteran who fights for every yard, and a tough, and sneaky fast slot receiver that makes plays. They also have two very skilled tight ends with great ball skills, and who can build up some YAC. The Packers DO NOT have a top 3 running back however, thus, providing us an advantage.

We need to bring in someone who can implement that wide open Shotgun, single-back offense that is at minimum a 8-10 yard route tree.

Looking towards next year I can imagine Boldin moving to the "D.D" role as Torrey evolves into a true number 1. Bring back lee evans, or playing Laquan at the 3.....and Dickson/Pitta are amazing T.E.

The Ravens do need to remove Cam Cameron from the picture....because he is the ONLY thing holding back our offense from being feared. He is too old and stubborn to abandon his system and ADAPT to the team in his possession. Like many older coaches, he is incapable of letting go of an NFL he used to know, and buries his team in mediocrity.

I agree with most of this. I also agree that perhaps there isn't a viable option out there to replace Cam right now. However, most people have been saying that he is out of chances and this needs to be his last season, not firing him outright now. Personally, I just want the people up top to deal with the man before he ruins this season.

I know what you mean but i think there are guys that we can go after.Like Brian Billick or Brad Childress. We did it with Fassel in 06 and our offense got better. We could even let him go and let John take up the offense(not saying hes Mike Martz) or even let Wilbert Montgomery try it. At this point I don't see what the point of keeping Cam is.He doesn't make us better and costs us games from his vanilla playcalling. Im sure any of the guys i mentioned or even other guys on the market could do a better job. There isn't anything special that Cam does that we'll lose if we let him go

Greg Jennings > Anquan Boldin
Donald Driver > Anquan Boldin
Jordy Nelson > Anquan Boldin
James Jones < Anquan Boldin

Cam def needs to go..he calls the worst plays and gives Flacco NO freedom and a lot of players disagree with him. Runnin Ray Rice 5 times while he's averaging 5+ ypc in that game? he's crazy, especially when the passing game isn't working.

Dickson hasn't been a monster and Pitta hasn't made that huge of an impact besides catching a couple 3rd downs.

Driver and Nelson arent better than Boldin imo. If Boldin had Jennings on one side of him and Rodgers throwing him the ball it would be over.

Reed is an easy fix. Bye, bye.

I think if it were not for the union issues, Cam would have been replaced last off season. No post season success this year? He will be gone this off season. No way to do that now in the middle of the campaign.

Cundiff, obviously, is not going anywhere.

Billick had the stones to fire his Offensive Coordinator and close friend not even halfway through the season and we had the best regular season record in Ravens history.
Wilbert Montegomery would be a fine choice.

Driver is on the down-swing of his career, in most games nelson sees more time at #2 than Driver...... They run a west coast offense built on timing with a very accurate QB... Our offense does use as many quick slants, drags , crossing patterns as Packers West Coast...

What Harbaugh should say is, "Reed, I have been reviewing your performance in the past 2 games and I've decided that you will not return kickoffs any more this year. I'll let you run an end around on occasion because Evans refuses to do it. Just feel lucky that you get to play once and awhile because you are the worst receiver that we have."

I would call catching 3rd downs a huge impact. Way larger then getting 100 yards in a game. Gosh how fantasy sports has ruined how people judge a player's ability to contribute.

Anquan Boldin reached 600 receptions in his 8th season. Despite playing with Favre on some pretty pass-heavy Packers teams, it took Driver until his 11th season to hit that mark.

Driver hasn't had 9 TDs in a season since 2004. Boldin had 9 in 12 games in 2007, then followed it up with 11 - a total Driver has never reached despite being in the league longer - in 12 games in 2008.

If you compare the two careers together, the #1 and #2 seasons in yards would both belong to Anquan Boldin.

Besides, your claim is for right now. He may get separation a little better than Boldin. I don't know. But Boldin is a bigger deep threat right now and been a better red zone threat his whole career, even when catching passes from Josh McCown and Matt Leinart. He's more athletic, more physical.

Look at the Cardinals game. He told Flacco to throw to him, even when he doesn't look open. Do you think Driver is going to take over a game like that? He has 161 yards for a 8.9 ypr in nine games this season. Boldin has had 132 and 145 yards in single games this year and averages 15.1 ypr.

I agree with Bltravens. Boldin in a real offense that runs clear-out routes and would find ways for Boldin to get better match-ups and get the ball in space. For running after the catch, it's Anquan Boldin, then the rest of the NFL's receivers.

Boldin's probably the best receiver on either the Ravens or the Packers. But you can make a case that Jennings is a number 1 receiver, and all of the others (Driver, Nelson, Jones, Cobb) are at least number 2 receivers. The other difference? All of these guys except Nelson are smaller, shiftier wide receivers that excel at YAC and are well suited to the West Coast Offense Green Bay runs. To run the Air Coryell effectively, you really need big receivers like the Chargers have, which we don't. A great example of Cam trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

Really? REALLY? Your solution is to tell a 2nd year player (Reed is what, 24?) that he's an awful football player, and is only getting to play because we have someone with an ankle injury? You don't think this kid feels terrible right now? He knows he let his team down, he knows he has to improve. When he's on point, he's a good returner. I'm not saying he's Devon Hester, but he's definitely solid. There's clearly some sort of issue going on. They're going to work on figuring out what it is and fixing it, and probably on our entire ST now that you think about it. Our coverage has been awful this season. But telling him he's garbage and is only on the team because Lee Evans is coming off an injury is not only classless and unprofessional but could seriously hinder this guy's career. Maybe he's one of those 3-year NFL players who never makes it, and maybe he's not. But if you hurt his confidence so hard that he's playing like Torrey was in preseason he's never going to amount to anything in this league.

Honestly, I was joking about that conversation. No coach would do that to his player. It seems to me that too many posts were calling for Reed's head. I think that he will be back to run the end around this week. Maybe, he will be the kick returner by default. I don't see him cracking the starting lineup as a wideout though.
