My brother is getting this game for Christmas so that means I'll be on this game soon lol!
Umm no, if this is his game, you're not going to get any time on it. Guaranteed!

I borrowed this game to see it it's something I might want to buy. I'm only on level 3, but I think I know why people are so crazy about it. I just entered Whiterun, or whatever it's called with my follower.

Does anyone know whether or not you can have children?
Lv.3 in whiterun? Better get out there and level up!

Oh, is that bad? A site that I'm using for hints says:
It's best to level slowly at first, so that you can discover some areas at a slightly lower level. These areas will then be "locked" at a lower level so that, when you return later, they can be used as "easy" training zones.
.

So I've just been going with the flow...

Yes, the game is worth the money as long as you don't mind games having lots of freedom to do what you want.

There are people who like linear experiences, where you simply play to get from Point A to Point B. This is far from a linear experience.

I've had people who hate RPGs or anything fantasy-related like Lord of the Rings, absolutely love this game. There's freedom in combat (you choose when you wanna fight, how you wanna fight, etc.); there's freedom in narrative (what you do affects the world around you); there's tons of side quests that are just as detailed as full games; and the world is large enough that you can literally get lost and find things that other people may never see when they play.

Heck, the strategy guide itself is thicker than some college textbooks. That's how rich the game is. It's well worth a purchase, even for a used copy. If you don't like it, you can always return it within 7 days if you got it from Gamestop and get your money back in full.

Had a nasty battle last night. Got a side quest in Riften to take out a dragon at some tower. I start fighting this dragon, and notice another flying around in the background. The 2nd dragon joined the fight, had to take 2 of them out. One was breathing fire, the other frost. Was a wicked battle to say the least!

The point is, this is a total free world game in which you make your own decisions. You may face adversity for some of those decisions later but then you may be rewarded later as well
It's funny, people are always skeptical when you tell them that a game has consequences for every decision, but case-in-point: you can kill a random civilian and think nothing of it, but then come back and you'll unlock different conversations or even be wanted for murder. Heck, you may not even be able to do certain side missions if that civilian was important.

Fiance bought me the Skyrim guide. Franchise you weren't lying about that book. 600+ pages. Hardback cover with a bookmarker built into the thing

Saints Row 3 is a good game but it's more about mindless, casual fun. It's good for when you need to blow off some steam but not a whole lot of depth to it.

Skyrim is the safe bet. You won't regret it. No one here has regretted it yet.

I liked Oblivion but it didn't [profanity deleted] away. Same with Fallout 3.

I went into Skyrim with lowered expectations, thinking that I would only play it heavily for a couple of weeks and then toss it to the side. Instead, I invested so much time into Skyrim, I started over just because I wanted to do things differently -- and I hadn't even gotten far in the main quest the first time around. The only reason why I haven't played it more is because of work; I tried playing before work, and almost ended up late to work each time because I lost track of time.

I personally hated Fallout 3.

Skyrim is miles ahead of that game and from the sound of it, it's miles ahead of Oblivion too. I was thinking about getting Oblivion just to go through it if I liked Skyrim but so many people say that Skyrim is so many leaps and bounds that I don't see a point. I'm already spoiled with this game. lol

My brother played Oblivion and he says Skyrim is much better.

After playing this game for a while I have to say I like it a lot! I'm a level 2 noob about to embark on my quest for my first shout! I chose the Orc race. I liked the fact that they have both physical and magical attributes. Plus their racial ability is sweet!

The story is crazy and fun as hell but I would hire it to see if it's your thing.

The infinium glitch does work. I have it a try last night. You top out at level 81 but the weird thing is, you really have to decide what your character is going to be good at because there just aren't enough perks to go around

Finally went and got my first shout and housecarl. Man I was getting owned in that dungeon lol! I did learn the combat and my preferred style of gameplay.

I see what you mean by 3rd person combat being difficult. So I move around in the open map in 3rd person for the wider FoV and when in combat switch over to first.

I love the mini cut scenes when you pull off a good move. Nothing is quite as satisfying as melee owning an enemy lol.

Love the mini cut scenes when you do a finishing move on an enemy.

That's something they brought over from Fallout. Actually worked better with headshots. lol
I just got the perk that allows beheadings to occur, that's pretty cool (if not violent) to see. :P

The best one is when you jump on the back of a dragon and hack the back of his head.

Yeah, that was a pretty agonizing decision. Decided to focus on smithing, alchemy, enchanting and archery. Plus I finished off the stuff I'd been working on before doing the glitch, like one handed, destruction, speech and lock picking.

Share your funny stories!

So I'm in Riverwood (lvl 6 at the time), so I get bored and kill a chicken that's on the road and loot it. Big mistake. Apparently these folks love their chickens. So I get the blacksmith, the owner of the chicken (female) and 2 guardsmen after me as I have a bounty on my head. I try to run away as I wasn't trying to kill these people. Anyhow as I run out of the town, in comes a dragon. So it lands and starts a battle. As I'm defending myself, I watch it fry the female farmer and see her body burning on the ground. I was laughing so hard I forgot to fight and ended up getting ganked by the townspeople.

By the way I love that you can level up just by working on your skills and professions and isn't just kill based.

My funniest memory from the game was the two giants by the giant bonfire, they sure gave me a shock, from a distance they looked like cavemen so I figured an arrow or two would take em down. I started getting worried when they werent dying and the ground started shaking under each step, next thing I'm running for my life before being pummelled something like 80ft into the air.

That one's not too bad.

********SPOILER ALERT********

When you return with the weapon, the daedra asks you to kill the dog. I refused. The dog then joined him in the statue, I was allowed to keep the weapon. I believe this is one of the less wicked daedra in the game.
