Nope! This one's actual set before Oblivion. They all stand on their own, the first one I picked up was Oblivion (4th in the series) and jumped right in. CAN'T WAIT until I get my hands on this game

As berad said, no need to play any of the others. I've actually played the 3rd one, Morrowind. Never played either of the first 2. This series has come a long way.....

Thanks, guys!

It actually takes place 200 years AFTER Oblivion and there are references to "The Oblivion Crisis" in the game, but you still don't need to have played it or any other Elder Scrolls game to enjoy Skyrim.

The only other Bethesda game I had played before Skyrim was Fallout 3 and I've been thoroughly enjoying Skyrim.

I'm at Smithing Level 62 and just finished off my Orcish Armor and Greatsword matching set. While freeing the townspeople of Dawnstar of their daily nightmares, I managed to find a few Deadra hearts just lying around.

Hold on to those. You can use them to make daedric weapons and armor. If smithed with smithing enchanted equipment and then enchanted properly, those daedric weapons are the most powerful in the game.

All of my stats are at 100, but only because I used a glitch.
Earning level 100 feels a lot better than just getting it ace. :D

Any xbox users having a problem with the game locking up? Happened 3 or 4 times so far. Goes into the loading screen, then just hangs up.

Happens to me on PS3 if you go make a sammich or do something for a few mins after it freezes, it should catch back up

I hear the PS3 has a pretty bad lagging problem after around 40-60 hours of gameplay. And Bethesda has no way of patching it. Silly PS3 owners.

However, this doesn't affect all PS3 users.

I've only had Skyrim freeze on me once so far, which is still less than any other game I've played for this long.

Lol I mean if you want your character to be a sicko, then yes by all means but yeah they're used to make those weapons and armor. There are many more in the game. You can also buy them in winterhold for 900 a piece

I was just kidding. They're sitting in my bedroom chest at Breezeholm in Whiterun along with my dragon scales and bones.

So far, I've only had three dragon encounters. Once outside of Whiterun (main quest,) then I wiped the floor with a Blood Dragon outside of Rorickstead, and I fought a second Blood Dragon at the College of Winterhold. There were only two people who saw me slay the second Blood Dragon and only one of them seemed kind of impressed.

Stupid mages.

I don't doubt it, but I have no will power. I heard there was a glitch to max everything out and couldn't resist. I thought I might regret it, but I haven't so far. I'm still having a blast with the game and that's all that matters to me.

PC or console?

I'm on console, but it works for either I think. There's a book called Oghm Infinitum (no clue if that's spelled right, LOL) that gives you 5 points for all skills of a certain set (stealth, combat or magic). You get it during the quest "Discerning the Transmundane". It disappears after you use it, but there's a trick that lets you use it infinitely. The book only disappears if it's in your inventory after you read it. You need to go to a chest and store it, then open the chest, get the book, use it, and put it back, all without closing the chest's menu. The book won't disappear as long as it's in the chest when you exit the menu and you can keep using it until everything is maxed out.

I killed an elder dragon last night and one of the whiterun guards says, you disrespect the law, you disrespect me. Lol ungrateful

So, I just beat the main story. For such an epic game, the main story is kind of underwhelming, and the final battle is WAY too easy. I guess now I'll wander around exploring and doing side quests until I get bored with it.

So is this game worth the money? ive never played any elder scrolls games before so... lol
Yes, the game is worth the money as long as you don't mind games having lots of freedom to do what you want.

There are people who like linear experiences, where you simply play to get from Point A to Point B. This is far from a linear experience.

I've had people who hate RPGs or anything fantasy-related like Lord of the Rings, absolutely love this game. There's freedom in combat (you choose when you wanna fight, how you wanna fight, etc.); there's freedom in narrative (what you do affects the world around you); there's tons of side quests that are just as detailed as full games; and the world is large enough that you can literally get lost and find things that other people may never see when they play.

Heck, the strategy guide itself is thicker than some college textbooks. That's how rich the game is. It's well worth a purchase, even for a used copy. If you don't like it, you can always return it within 7 days if you got it from Gamestop and get your money back in full.

Franchise isnt lying. When I saw the game play online and before buying this game I asked about it. I only liked Final Fantasy style linear RPGs but Skyrim is something so far and beyond any RPG I've ever played. You are free to truly do anything. See a couple people walking on a trail and you are in a bad mood, kill em! take their possessions and walk off like a boss! wanna get married, get married. The point is, this is a total free world game in which you make your own decisions. You may face adversity for some of those decisions later but then you may be rewarded later as well :)

Best RPG ever! Sorry Chrono Trigger, you cant hang with this game

I borrowed this game to see it it's something I might want to buy. I'm only on level 3, but I think I know why people are so crazy about it. I just entered Whiterun, or whatever it's called with my follower.

Does anyone know whether or not you can have children?
