And the best part about it is that no mission really feels the same. You have a good amount of fun on each quest you take in the game. I plan on playing this all through my college break. lol

It's in the back of my truck with my fiance driving. My fiance and I have been out ever since I suggested I get a new game. Kohls should not exist. Women take more time in there than any of you have spent on this game lol. I'll be breaking it open in an hour after I get back from cheeseburger in paradise. I'm super excited to play it though. On a full belly is going to make the victory even sweeter

She knows once you start playing you'll become a hopeless Skyrim junky and she's stalling for time, trying to delay the inevitable.

The only reasons why I've been able to put the controller down:
1) Food
2) Sleep
3) Restroom
4) Work
5) Bar
6) WWE 12
7) Modern Warfare 3 online with my best friend
8) Occasional bit of Saints Row The Third

If not for those reasons, I would do nothing but play Skyrim. Even reasons 6-8 are flimsy at best.

Played for 3 hours last night. I have to say, Im totally hooked! I found a bandits den on the way to the first town, beat them up and looted the place lol. Then Im on my way to get a golden talon for this shop that was robbed. I went too far past the marker and ran into a giant. He managed to launch me in the air and kill me when I faced him head on. I decided to think things differently. I stood on the ledge of the mountain and shot him with aarows. Next thing you know, here he comes, so I bolt up the mountain and turn around to wait for him with more aarows. Turns out he cant go past a certain point on the mountain and kinda gets stuck there. I just stood a safe distance away and hammered him with Fire Magic for about 3 minutes til he died. I wasnt looking for a glitch but i found one lol. Awesome awesome game guys. BTW Im using a High Elf

That's my sole problem with the game. There's 101 glitches you can use to improve just about anything.

Just picked the game up on pc. Found that if I change the controls, it still displays the default when I need to perform an action.

ie, If my loot button is Caps Lock, it still says "Press R to loot".

Makes the game a little awkward at times, but it's still amazing. The opening sequence after making your character made me smile. Seeing the spiders quickly took that away.

Dang, you guys are making me want this game even more. It's going to be a nerdy winter break!
[/quote]

Give in to the Skyrim...

It's not that nerdy, since everyone and their grandmother plays this game.

The spiders were torture for me...it wasn't so much that they're spiders (though I still hate spiders), it's that they were huge and hissed at you when you approached them...

Makes me wish I had a powerful enough machine to run the PC version so I could use that mod that turns all spiders into bears...

I've had people tell me they love this game and they've probably played virtually nothing but sports games. It's not a fantasy epic in the traditional sense. Rather, it's just a wonderful experience that captures you with the world's immersion.

Plus, you play a dude who kills dragons. If you were never fascinated with dragons at one point as a kid, you probably didn't have much of an imagination growing up.

A personality equivalent to the color beige.

I don't think I've heard one person tell me they don't like this game. It took me a while to figure it out at first (I hadn't played any other Elder Scrolls /shockedface) but it's a spectacular game.

its just crazy how big the world is on this game. i feel like i traveled forever and I probably only covered a tiny nibble of the the map. not to mention all of the side quests that are located in that small chunk. i never played an elder scrolls game in my life but Im completely sold to this game and might even pick up Oblivion for the hell of it

I didn't know anything about this until you mentioned it. Funnily enough I'm now at the 23 hour mark and as a dragon attacked me the whole game started to lag! I couldn't even kill him even though his life was empty. I left the area and things went back to normal so hopefully it doesn't happen again.

I've also had 2 complete system crashes playing this game which hasn't happened very often since I've had a PS3.

There are going to be so many mods that come out for this. Steam is offering access to the Steam Workshop in January, so nearly anyone can mod mostly anything.

While Oblivion is a fantastic game, it's hard to go back to that once you've played Skyrim. There's been so many ways that Skyrim has improved upon Oblivion, the game'll feel foreign to you. I don't know how I ever played Oblivion without dragon-shouts or dual-wielding spells/swords/knives. Also, I felt that Oblivion didn't give you too much incentive to progress through the main story, while Skyrim's story enables you to obtain more items and shouts to improve your experience outside of the main story.

I thought the Fallout worlds were huge, but this game's world is insane. I feel like I could put 200 hours into this game, and barely scratch the surface.

Yes, most PC games can be modded (and legally, at that) for your own enjoyment. Many developers release mod tools to make this easier, while other enthusiasts find ways to mod games on their own.

This can only be done on PCs, as consoles are inherently limited in what you can access without the experience becoming unstable. Also, PC gamers obviously mod at their own risk, though most mods don't do much damage that cannot be undone. Mods for console games, by nature of their closed structure, would be difficult to undo.

I get it, kinda like when you use game shark on a game save. If you don't have the game shark afterwards, you can't open the save. Very unstable

Exactly.

Speaking of the Game Shark, for those who were wondering, cheat devices were discontinued in this generation of consoles because of their increased emphasis on online connectivity. With frequent system updates, cheat devices were essentially rendered useless by Sony and other manufacturers.

Furthermore, because of the popularity of online multiplayer, cheat devices could've voided warranties and bricked consoles because people could've used them for unfair advantages online.

And finally, publishers saw the potential of DLC for profit and didn't want consumers to finish games too quickly with cheat devices before they spent money from DLC to increase replayability.

That said, I miss the Game Shark. I, myself, had a Code Breaker as well as the GS and I loved both devices. :(
