Suggs "Subtle" Shot At The O.C. Maybe?

68 posts in this topic

an interviewer mentioned to Suggs that; "Lynch has another big game..." and before he could finish that statement, Suggs interrupted and said; "How many attempts did he get?" the interviewer responded with, "he had over 20..." Suggs again interrupted and said; "How much? Oh..he had 30 attempts? Well, you give a guy the ball enough and inch it out, you definitely gonna get there somehow."

Suggs was outspoken before after that Jaguars game about Rice not getting enough touches. this may have been a subtle shot at Cam perhaps? your thoughts?

sounds to me like a Cam call out.

Reality is this.

Cam isnt going NO WHERE until the season ends. period.

Make the best of it and then send him packing.

My thoughts ... there need to be a lot more "not so subtle" shots on Cam. I'm really starting to doubt Harbs as well. Come on you're the head coach. Somebody out there has to say "hey, Rice doesn't even have 10 carries in this game" and Harbs needs to get on Cam about that. i don't care how far down we are, if all we do is pass, we can't win in this league.

Suggs doesn't really have a lot of room to talk. He did nothing today.
Yeah and neither did Ray Rice because he had what? 5 carries!

Probably.

But he was also saying that ~100yds on 30+ attempts isn't that impressive.

That's almost a false statement. The best teams in the league are passing teams. That's how the Pack, the Saints, the Lions, the Pats, and (when Manning is healthy) the Colts do it. If the receivers could catch or the defense could make a stop there'd be a much different mood on the forums right now.

It's not about the yardage. It's how Lynch and the Seahawks pushed the pile and beat us when they had to.

Certain teams with certain personnel have to be taken into account, you can still win as a running team with a great defense if you have the players. And like the Packers show, you can win with strictly passing game and average defense if you have the players

How should Cam respond? Only one way, "You're right". This team needs to get on the same page, but someone has to speak up over this.

Nobody on D did. I said it last week, I'll say it again. Last week we tried to contain Rberger, and we did. This week we tried to contain Tavaris Jackson, and we did. Jackson is a better runner than passer. So, the theory is, if you contain him, but force him to pass, you can win that match up. You still have to get pressure though.

Call me crazy, but I feel like Pagano has softened up. Where are the blitzes? Where's the pressure? Where are the stunts and loops he told us about?

Maybe Suggs and the big bad defense should get off the field on 3rd down.... so Ray Rice CAN touch the Ball..

Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford (I know), Tom Brady, Peyton Manning. Besides Stafford, all those guys are elite, not every team can follow the same formula.

Flacco had 52 attempts. Rice had 5 attempts. Because of this, your point doesn't hold much ground. the defense has to do better, but it's not their fault the QB had 10x as many attempts as the RB.

Still impressive though. Its rare that RBs do that vs us

That's what I'm saying. Doesn't matter if he ran for 60yds or 150, they ran and produced when they had to.

I see it as a shot at Marshawn Lynch, and his 100 yard game. Saying that if you have 30 carries, it shouldn't be too hard to cross the century mark.

We're about to get attacked for saying that lol

This week and last week he's been very conservative. It annoys me.

And maybe Andy Moeller isn't the right fit for the offensive line (that can be addressed in off season though). We need to get the ground and pound going.

And the Niners, Raiders, and Broncos have been winning lately by RUNNING. You do what's right for your personnel. Why sign the best FB in the league if you're not going to run at all. Last week abandoning the run was warranted. This week it was not.

Maybe. I feel like something is holding our oline back, and I don't know what it is.

I ll need to go back and watch the game. Grubbs is back and Yanda is great so it's Birk, McKinnie and Oher I guess.

Think it's very fair to say that we will be drafting some linemen next year because that is our biggest need playerwise.

Just got back from the game. Let me reply to this using what Seahawks fans were saying to me.

On Ray Rice:

"What the hell .. why aren't they running Rice?"
"Wow ... they stopped running .. wow"
"Is Rice hurt?"

On Joe Flacco:

"My god he's horrible"
"He's terrible"
"Why are they still throwing?"

And that's from OPPOSING fans. Ray Rice only having 5 rushes (12 total rushes for the team - 6.3yds/attempt) and Flacco having 52 passing attempts (53 total for the team - 4.6yds/attempt) on a night where he was consistently throwing behind, above or just plain skipping it into wide open receivers is unbelievable.

Cameron completely abandoned the run and his play calling was as atrocious as I've ever seen. Add to that Harbaugh's decisions. 47 (think it was 47) yard FG attempt into the open end of Centurylink Field? Really? Everybody around me as they lined it up were laughing their heads off and saying what a horrible call it was to try it. And what was that challenge at the end of the game that killed 1 of 2 remaining timeouts?

Suggs better steel himself for his next battle with Bayless. I can hear Skippy now : "Hey Suggs , how's it going over at Fall So Hard University ?"

Suggs should have held off a few more games on that idea.
