Jimmy Smith

75 posts in this topic

Anyone else worried that Jimmy Smith is not getting enough playing time? Young rookies all over the league are making an impact, but ours do not really seem to be doing so (except McPhee, a steal).

To develop this guy into a shutdown CB I think it makes sense to play him sooner rather than later, allow him to develop. He won't do much good for us in the future if he continues to play on special teams. And our current CB corps hasn't been all-world either; I doubt that he can be much worse than Chris Carr.

I know alot of fans share the same sentiment but I think it bears addressing once again.

I'm worried that Jimmy Smith is a ghost because it's an unsolved mystery how Carr could play so bad so often and Smith not get a few snaps in the nickel at least.......

not sure what reason is there not to play him now, he should be fully healthy......

I've been thinking about this all week. Put him on AJ Green! They are both rookies, and Smith shut down Green in college. He's the only guy we got that matches up with him physically.

How Jimmy isn't playing is the biggest mystery besides why Cam is still in town.

Cary and Webb should be the starters because they earned it in training camp. But Carr coming in as nickle back? That should be Webb moving to cover slot and Jimmy and Cary on the outsides. Don't understand that.

Yes! I was inspired by the way Jimmy played Bowe in the preseason and I really had hoped we would've integrated him this week to go against a pretty good WR in Sidney Rice. Sadly that wasn't the case

I can understand him not starting, but Chris Carr looked pretty bad today. They should at least let him play in the nickel..

Yea, gotta point there. But Webb in the nickle, he's much better, so yea, off the subject, talking about The Jimmy here.

Every game I seen him in he made a play, so he should be starting by the end or at the end of the season.

Jimmy Smith should definitely come in before Carr.

There comes a time when you have to make the move to start a guy who you know is going to be your future. It's much like Ozzie making the decision to jettison some old vets in favor of some new blood. I think we just have to get Jimmy on the field if he is practicing well and live with whatever mistakes that come from that.

But at the same time, if Jimmy is showing in practice that he isn't quite ready then he has to sit a little longer. I haven't seen one practice so I have to trust the coaches.

He is still working on that ankle, guarenteed. Give him time to be worked consistantly back into the line up. To run and cut on a recently healed ankle takes time - MORE TIME then you think.

Smith and Williams have the height (6'1, 6'2) needed in Madden12 to contend with those big receivers. especially in the redzone. plus, they both have good man and zone coverage.

Top 10 Talent falls to us at 27 due to character issues and yet he can't even show how much of a Steal it was for Ozzie. I mean I know McPhee is doing well and earned his playing time but why a 5th round Rookie would be on the field before your 1st Round Pick is crazy... I like to see Jimmy Smith out there next Sunday. Bench Carr and go with this as our CB Depth Chart for the rest of the season:

1. Jimmy Smith
2. L. Webb
3. Cary Williams

It's time for Jimmy to play Harbs, rotate him and Cary at Nickel if you want to play him but Jimmy Smith needs to be one of our starting Corners.

Hate to say this, but I'm really questioning the coaching staff's decisions.

The Jimmy should at minimum be our NB, and fighting it out with Cary for the starting spot.

Kindle and Kruger should be getting most of the reps that JJ is getting.

We are throwing the ball LITERALLY 5x more than than we ran it today.

Doss is nowhere to be seen, even though Laquan has shown very little.

Vonta Leach is out there catching passes instead of paving the way for Rice (oh yeah, that's right, we need to RUN the ball once in a while for Leach to do his job).

We need to seriously re-evaluate this coaching staff, from the top down, starting with Harbaugh, and make the appropriate adjustments

This. I keep looking and looking for Leach out there even when we do run and half the time he isn't even on the field. What is up with that?

I have to respectfully disagree about Jimmy Smith as of right now though. I don't think we've seen enough of his play to make any educated judgements as to whether or not he should be starting over anyone. I do think we need to be rotating him in some though or else we'll never know what he can do.

agreed fly.

i don´t get that williams thing neither!

they won´t change our head coach. he just got an extension and i think he is doing a good job. but he has to get rid of his wingman. that one is a joke.

we were all happy to see the team signing leach. i don´t understand why the running game doesn´t get it going.

i don´t even wanna start about jimmy smith. man was i excited as we drafted him. but right now i am not sure why we did! carr trying to cover sidney rice yesterday was such a joke. jimmy has to be REALLY bad in training to not see the field. or he has problems with his ankle but that cannot be seen when he is in there on special teams...

I've seen jimmy in on about 3 total plays all year and each and everytime he either defended a pass, or was pkaying extremely tight coverage.

Every play I've seen chris carr in on, I've seen a 3rd down conversion.

What is this coaching staff thinking? Its mind boggling. Danny gorrer has gotten more time than our #1 draft pick with insane talent
