I am a fan of Harbaugh. Its Cam Cameron that I am not a fan of.

Yeah, but eventually you have to start blaming the HC for keeping him around for so long.

Very good coach.

Interesting poll done by Sporting News - LINK. Asked 111 NFL players who they'd least like to play for, [s]no votes against John[/s]. Coughlin "won" and some votes against Belichick, Haley, Jim Harbaugh, and Rex Ryan (who I thought everyone wanted to play for).

EDIT: lol jk, 2 votes for John - must've been Steelers.

Thats very true. Cam was told he is on the hot seat by Steve Bisciotti before the season started, so hopefully the offensive inconsistencies this season are enough reason to give Cam the boot.

I'd definitely say he's good. 3 playoff trips in his first three years speaks for itself. There are some things that I don't agree with him about such as keeping Cam and firing Zorn, but overall he's top 10 in the NFL.

Very good coach. More of the 'rah rah' type. He still has a ton to learn in terms of offensive and defensive playcalling. But that is to be expected since he came from being a ST coach.

Overall, I love him. I wouldn't date him. But I would be okay if Mom did.

Don't know how you'd measure that. He is a winning coach for sure, but there is so much more to it that we fans never see...

i like how he has brought this team together to be a team, rather than an offense and defense.. if we had rex as HC i think our Defense would no doubt be number one, but our offense wouldnt have improved any.. hed be inclined to draft/FA defensive players and being DC minded and the realationship he had with the D the offense might have been a bit alienated

I'm kind of surprised we're having a thread to discuss whether or not we think John Harbaugh is a good coach. The guy is 38-18 in the regular season (.679) and 4-3 in the playoffs. There aren't many coaches with better win percentages than that. Plus, I think he leads the league in challenges won this season, with a team that is currently in contention for the number 1 seed in the AFC.

I think he's pretty okay. He should fire Cam, though.

I believe Harbaugh is a good but could be great coach depending on how many Super Bowl wins are in his future. From the be careful what you wish for department I can't believe I wanted Jason Garrett to lead the Ravens ahead of Harbaugh. Harbs coaches circles around that guy. I did feel his weakness was some nepotism when it came to staff but when Matteson left (and I believe he was asked to leave) I changed my opinion on that. I can't think of a guy I'd rather see leading the Ravens to victory than John Harbaugh.

Harbs is a great coach and I'm proud to have him here. His clock management has improved overall despite those inexplicable early timeouts and he's gotten a lot better challenging plays. What's not to like?

Whether or not he is "good" coach, or even the "best" coach is debatable; however, he is the most consistent of all the coaches the Ravens have had. The "Points Forced vs. Points Allowed" numbers from '96 until midway through the 2011 season can be seen below.

(Stars are for the post-season. Gold is a Super Bowl win. Silver is a playoff appearance.)

He is the certainly a great coach for what we do and we most likely won't be having this conversation after Feb if the Ravens win the Super Bowl. I do agree that we can only blame Cam for so long before going back and questioning John's ability to be a Head Coach. There will be a time where we will truly be able to tell if John is able to get us to the Super Bowl if it's not this year, when Cam is gone. Someone brought up about only blaming Cam for so long but when he is gone, Harbs will be the only person to blame and quite frankly I think we'll be a better team and Harbs will be a better coach with Cam gone, because he won't have as many panic attacks as he does with Cam.

The one knock I think you could've had on John before the season was his inability to beat the Steelers on a regular basis. With the sweep, I think that criticism goes out the window.

I'm beyond proud that he's our coach. I prefer him over his brother Jim. Jim has an edge to him that I'm not too keen on.

Yeah, i like him. He makes questionable calls and i'm still pretty confused about the whole onside kick and not punting ordeal at Jax

I'll first preference this by saying I love Harbaugh and glad he's our Head Coach. But, I think he's more of a game manager per' se as the pundits say about Flacco. I think he fell into a great position with very talented players. As I said last year, we went 12-4 in spite of our coaching. He's still learning and trying to figure it all out. I think he does very well during the week to get the players ready to play and up for the game generally speaking. He has to learn when to tell any of our Coordinators to clean something up when it isn't working and he has to do better with clock management. Nothing burns me up more when he takes silly timeouts and whatnot.

We can all say things like "Belicheck out-schemed Rex Ryan and put the Patriots in position to win." I can't say (as of now) John Harbaugh did this and that and helped propel the Ravens to victory. Jacksonville game was a prime example. We had 2 timeouts and the two minute warning against an offense who hasn't moved the ball all day yet we're giving them the ball in field goal range when we could potentially win by a field goal? lol, what?!

So yeah, Harbaugh is a decent coach with the potential to become a very, very good coach. But even with my ramblings the stats don't lie. John is a hell of a coach on paper in the black and white. At the end of the day that's all that matters and I'm glad to have him on the squad. I'll be even more excited once he clean up some of his errors.
