Cody V. Pouncey

[Neal Could Block the SUN!!]

Noticed during the Wallace touchdown a seemingly obvious rules infraction, but as is typical in the league this year the refs blew it!

During the play, Cody slips and attempts to get back to his feet. Pouncey then starts jumping up and down on top of Cody. Looked like a WWF battle royal more than a NFL legal block. Did I miss something? Is it now legal to hold a player down on the ground? I know that line men have been "falling" on top of other line men for years. This was way over the top and really evident as it had to go on for almost as long as the 6 sec play.

Of course this being Ravens v. Squeeler who knows what rules will be enforced or ignored.

It was McPhee, I think. Yeah, I don't know if it's illegal, but it wasn't pretty. Phee was bent over and Pouncey was pushing on his neck.

Oh well. Pouncey's nothing special. The Ravens have owned him every time they've seen him. Onto Seattle.

really? I thought it was Cody, but could be wrong-

This just seemed so over board on pushing the boundaries and on such a big play. Thought maybe I had a major misunderstanding of when blocking stopped and became holding and then personal fouls??

that's where I am looking for opinions. I watched the play and had never seen anything like it.

So I said "Self, you think that was a legal play??"
low and behold- I didn't know (first time for everything)

I saw it too and it stuck out to me because I've never really seen that before. I doubt it was legal but officiating overall this year,league wide, has been horrible.We came away with a win and no serious injuries so I'm good. I would like to know the legalities though.

I noticed it also. I thought for sure it was a holding. Could he have got to Ben? I don't know but probably not because Ben scrambled to his right so there probably was no flag because he couldn't make the play. Just my take on it.

This. He's a solid "C" but by no means an All Pro like alot of analysts wanted to make him out to be. Cody dominates the point of attack everytime he goes up against Pouncey, been that way since their college days.

Yeah, that was on McPhee, and it should have been called... I mean, come on, if Smith was "holding" how was [i]that[/i] not holding? Steelers O-linemen can do whatever they want.

he wouldnt have got anywhere near ben but does that matter? if its a hold its a hold, same as a cb holding a wr after 5 yeards, if the ball goes the other side they still throw the flag
