Lee Evans Update

Honestly even though it sucks that he was hurt the first half of the season, it's the perfect time to add a dangerous weapon to our offense that nobody has really prepared for. If he comes back and helps gets our offense rolling a little more, we could be a really hot team going into the playoffs. I know we've been remarkably inconsistent but I believe we could potentially win out for the rest of the season. San Francisco and San Diego won't be easy, and neither will Cincy, but we have the talent to do it, if utilized right. I know it seems silly that one person could help our offense click more, but the addition of Lee may open things up for Q or Torrey, depending on who other teams decide to put heavy coverage on. I truly believe this could be what we need to take our offense to the next level.

We still need to run the ball at least 40% or greater......

Hate to rain on teh optimism, but we have to run a 3 wr set first.
We'd surely run them more often once Lee is back in the line up. It's pretty crazy to think that we've gone pretty much the whole season so far with the third receiver being an undrafted rookie.

I don't think we really want a quota. We need a good unpredictable run/pass mix. We now have a respectable passing game and need to exploit it to make the run that much more productive. It may be we are pass heavy for 2 or three quarters, or not. Depends on adjustments made in game. Yeah, right.

Then when we have a sizable lead, we pound the line, make first downs use clock and win the game like good teams do. Easy game, right?

A logical person would think, but my faith in the offensive coaches has become truly offensive.

That's when we have a fast start and a lead in the second half; however, what if we don't have a fast start like against Seattle game?
We need to establish the run; giving Rice 20 carries per game is like a must. He's our superstar; we need to use him. When they force themselves to shut down Rice, we will switch to passing mode so we can open up lane for Rice to run.

Whatever we want to do, we need to feed Rice the ball and let him make some big plays. We will adjust accordingly based on how the opposing defense focusing on Rice.

Our identity is pound pound pound and then pass. We sign Leach for dump off? Somebody needs to give Cam a nuckle in the head....

Touche.

Fingers crossed that Cam hasn't forgotten that Evans is still on the roster.

Our identity is dated. We need to adjust and go with what will work at that time of the game. That means be unpredictable. Give cam a knuckle in the head!

On topic; Hopefully Evans comes back this week and contributes in a big way the rest of the season. If he can, I think the lack of run plays takes care of itself.

People are sleeping on Lee Evans. This guy is a weapon for our offense. Boldin will be able to separate better now that torrey and lee can run some nice clear out plays for Q. His hands and veteran route running are gonna be good for the offense. I'm tired of seeing dropped passes and poor routes. Lee cuts better than any of our wr's, very crisp routes. can't wait to have him back. He'll be a spark and take some pressure off of torrey to be the "big playmaker" all the time. Then torrey can just relax and play ball.

he never really got comfortable with flacco. I know he had that long TD catch but it still didn't really show he was comfortable in our offense, just a great route and throw. I mean the guy has only played limited pre-season and week 1. I think the early drops are more a product of lack of familiarity with how joe throws the ball at different areas of the field. Each qb uses more touch or more zip depending on the window their throwing into. As Lee meshes with the offense/Joe I think we'll see him tighten up his game and cut down on errors like that.

Yes, sleeping. Because we've been waiting a long time!

I can't believe the FO has been this patient with Lee's slow recovery for no good reason. I hope he shows up and gives us the lift we so badly need.

You guys are impatient lol. The guy clearly had a lingering injury. It happens, but it makes no sense to try to rush him back onto the field. It's not worth him coming back a few weeks early if he's gonna re-aggrivate his ankle and get IR'd for the year. I'm glad he's as close to 100% as possible. Although it was annoying as a fan, I think the FO/Coaching staff handled the injury perfectly.

Agreed. The fact that he was never doubted or IR'd I think says a lot for what we expect from him, and I think he'll live up to expectations. I was talking to a Bills fan in my class today and he was saying how great Lee could be for us, and how loved he was in Buffalo.

Per Aaron Wilson "Cam Cameron suggested that WR Lee Evans (left ankle) will likely need another week or two of practicing before he plays in a game."
