Lee Evans Update

211 posts in this topic

Didn't the original injury happen in the 2nd to last preseason game, although he played in our first 2 regular season games this season.... I've Read various statements on here about people speculating its related to a previous injury in Buffalo, but whatever to all of that....

Can Somebody please UPLOAD a video of this injury....

T.Owens can return from a ACL quicker than Evans from an ankle sprain?? lol ( that's sarcasm )

You can't be serious? First of all, I believe we will make it to the postseason but it isn't a given.... If he never plays another down in the regular season, how will he fit into the WR rotation? How Joe be able to judge or trust his route running... Games speed up a little bit more in post-season, if he never gets his reps in Regular season then he is likely to run incorrect routes, or cut routes short which would lead to pick 6s the other way.....

If we are going to be throwing 40-50 times a game like the last 3 games (51, 47, 52) then at least 6 of those balls could be attempts towards Evans to finish up this season.... Otherwise he is just a Stallworth addition....

Lee Evans is not a proven WR like Andre Johnson... If the Texans kept winning and chose to sit Johnson until playoffs then it wouldn't be an issue at all because hamstrings need as much rest as possible and johnson has been with the team in the offense for years and he can win a One-on-One against most CBs in league even beat double teams.....
How will he fit in to the rotation? you mean the one with a rookie who can't catch a cold? or the three guys after him who have a combined 4 receptions? I guess we don't want a veteran like Lee to come in a disrupt all that perfect timing and chemistry.

Wait I'm saying he needs to play in some regular season games because Evans isn't good enough as a WR to show up in the playoffs and be effective.....

not sure if the original post I responded to was yours but... It said something about rest Evans until the playoffs... And I'm saying he needs reps with the offense because he isn't reliable enough to just walk on the field and make plays when he comes back, Route running, timing on passes would be an issue....

Example : worst case scenario he doesn't play or get cleared until last week of season and we decide not to play him in the game .... So what chance does he have for Cameron to put him in a playoff game to run any play other than an end-around?

Look at Grubbs, he returned to the starting lineup after a long layoff and no gametime yet and was an immediate upgrade over Gurode, and while Evans has only been here 3 months thats only two weeks before Smith, Doss and Williams. Evans experience alone makes him an upgrade over anyone not named Boldin.

I'm assuming you have a link to go along with that declaration but just forgot to insert it or something.

Grubbs is a poor example to bring up IMO because he is actually the longest tenured O-lineman we have on the team, he knows every play he is teaching the other guys the plays and his replacement was playing out of position lol....

I don't even understand where you are going with this... It isn't a question of is Lee Evans an upgrade over them or should he play in front of the Rookies when he comes back immediately, because that answer is Yes!

The original thoughts go back to saying Rest him until Playoff time..... I'm saying if he is healthy enough play him now, because too many balls are getting dropped by guys and the offense would only improve with him....

I mean is he going to be our "secret Playoff Weapon" like we been hiding him all year on the injury list, practicing him (like a college Red-Shirt player) then when perfect time comes we call him in for him to destroy our opponents..

To make things clear... I don't have a problem with anyone that thinks the team should rest Lee Evans until the Playoffs....

I'm just wondering what is the reasoning behind this thought process or theory... If people feel Lee Evans is better than current WRs which he is.... Why would you not want him on field now?

This isn't baseball resting a pitcher's arm so he can close for you later on in series...

Now if his injury happen to hamper him and prevent him from playing until Playoff time fine that's cool it happens, we would have to deal with it accordingly... But to just choose not to play a player when they have become healthy and can contribute to a team, I don't understand the thinking process there at all..... I would hope if a scenario like that did occur for Evans or any player that the competitor inside of them would go crazy until they would get back on field early......

As soon as he's healthy enough to play (without risk of easy re-injury) he'll play. Like stated before, there is no "resting players" in football!! This is a mans game, not namby pamby baseball!

i don´t get it either...i think we should put our best players on the field. like ne coach said a few days ago. we don´t even have reached thanksgiving. there is a lot of ball to be played. some people seem to have the opinion that we are already in the playoffs. don´t get too easy with that. it is still a long road with a lot of hard games. if you think you can get into the playoffs playing only 75% you will not make it that far.

never the less i don´t want to see anybody on the field that isn´t ready to play...

Things looked a little rosier when I originally said that he should be rested, we had just beaten the Steelers and it looked like we had shaken off those dud games. But I would only advocate doing that with Evans if we could guarantee we can make the postseason without him, and only as a precautionary measure (because of his recent injury history) to ensure we can use him as much as possible during the postseason.

Evans is done. (ITALIAN: Evans è fatto) I mean that Evans probably won't play this week against the Bengals. He may not even be back until near the end of the season. Even if he is coming back his season is an epic failure, similar to that of Stallworth last year. There is no quote to back it up. This is only my opinion. Sorry for the confusion.

He nearly played last week after practicing for a couple days in a row. I see no reason to say that he wont play this season after we saw our first glimmer of hope last week.

Ya I agree, an ankle would hinder him too much like he said regarding his speed and ability to move and you know what, maybe it was for the best as bad as that sounds. What if Evans isn't injured and Torrey doesn't break out like he did? Though it is taking a long time, i'm very confident just like most other fans who aren't giving up on Evans that he will definitely be worth it once him and Torrey get the chance to line up on opposite sides and spread the opposing D's for Rice and Boldin.

Just gotta be positive as hard as it may be for some when we lose ridiculous games like last week.

I just hope he can get healthy soon. We desperately need him. He and Torrey Smith would be the best burning WR duo ever.

So is here playing or not, if he is, all the deep balls that were overthrown for Torrey wount be a problem for Lee, i remember Flacco saying he never had to worry about over throwing Lee Evans. Man if he plays, game over baby.

Yea, the best part is Evans takes off faster than Torrey, so it will be dazzling to see his level of speed when he steps on the field.

i think he will be back this week, I think they kept him out last week because it was Seattle and why not save him another week just to be positively sure and have him face the Bengals

chances are the run game wont break out against their defense, their top CB went down for the season so Lee will help out...

I don't think Evans' speed is faster Torrey, but his technique against DB makes his speed lethal; he went passed them without getting grabbed from the start, so he'll get to where the ball to be thrown.

Torrey needs to learn from Evans' technique to top off the defenders.

We really needed him in Seattle. I hope he plays but I don't count on it. Still, just think how much better he would be if he had played all season.
