Lee Evans Update

211 posts in this topic

I was looking for the injury thread that was used for Grubbs and Evans in particular (maybe we should have a stickied injury updates thread?), so feel free to merge this if it's too redundant, just thought I should let everyone know that things look optimistic for Evans...

WR Lee Evans said he plans on testing out his injured ankle in practice this week. Is optimistic he might be able to play Sunday [s]#[/s]Ravens

I'm happy to hear things are looking good, but I might have him wait until Cincinnatti unless he and the medical staff believe he is okay to play in Seattle. I'd hate to see him reinjure his ankle, but perhaps if he plays in Seattle he won't be rusty at all for Cincinnatti next week.

I completely agree. Leave him inactive one more week and bring him back for Cincy, it would be one more thing they would have trouble game-planning for with limited tape on him.

hey we have waited this long and done fine without him, give him one more week so we can be absolutely sure he is ready to get back to full form. If he is back at full form and torrey and Boldin playing like they are we might become one of the scariest offenses in the league come playoff time.

I will not lie I like our receivers better than GB's but we just need the play from the QB. This has got to have joe mesmerized at the possibilities.

id say not to activate him for this week, but clear him to practice. if the ankle is healthy enough for it. that'll give him more time to get ready. while not hastening his progression (cramming everything into a short week)

Clear him for practice, but keep him inactive for at least one more week

i agree as others have said, let him practice and get some reps, maybe make him active if he can go, but only incase of emergency, ie smith goes down injured for example, but i wouldnt be throwing him in this week unless, touch wood, that happened. Thne let him practice all next week and he should be 100% by cinci fitness wise, but maybe rusty

Don't you guys want him to develop some chemistry with Joe first, along with get some familiarity with different packages, BEFORE the Cincy game?

Dag! The guy has been out for months! Get on the field already!

Seriously though; I agree we need him more for cincy and that is why I think he should be activated this week if he is ready to go. He doesn't need to be in for every snap, but it would be good for him to see "live bullets" before the cincy match up.

I guess he could achieve that in practice, although nothing replicates games. They hit it off quick in preseason so I'll hope for more of the same. I guess I just want to see that guy on the field for us.

Part of me agrees with this, but at the same time, the less tape Cincy has of Evans, the less they can prepare for him.

I don't want to get ahead of myself here but if Lee gets up to speed, Torrey continues to develop, Q continues to play at the level he is right now, and Pitta continues to amaze... we could be a scary team on offense, which is something I'd never thought I'd say.

Believe me, I think we're all thinking that in some way shape or form. Add to that a freed up Ray Rice/Ricky Williams. I'm thinking about when Harbaugh said "we'll continue to improve" and I think we just grew up a whole lot on offense over the last 6 quarters of football.

I feel your pain. I really want to throw him out there as well, but I am not sure the risk is worth the reward. If he re-aggravates the injury we might not have him at all this year. We still have to prove the Bills got the short end of the stick on this deal!

I am going to disagree with most here. I think if he's ready (I think he will be) he should play. This has gone on quite long enough, what 8 weeks now? I think last week was his "lets sit him one more week" kinda thing.

He needs to get on the field with Flacco and knock the dust off the ol boots. We don't have a team on our schedule we can toy around with so we need him.

Plus, I selfishly want to start SMASHING teams into the ground!

I'll say the same thing I've said in every thread about every guy we've had out for injury this year: if he can play, play him. Christ, what is with you guys and wanting players to sit even longer even when they say they might be ready to go? If the actual training staff isn't coddling him and he's not coddling himself, why should we? The guy hasn't seen a snap in weeeeeeeeks....I'd love to see him get back involved with the offense BEFORE a big division game rather than during. I'm not sure how that doesn't make sense.

If he and the docs think he can play, he will. I bet hes just inching to get out there.... remember how bad Ed wanted to get out on the field last year? Imagine Evans playing like that. Add in Q and Torrey...

Rapid Reports over on cbssports.com said Lee Evans is practicing today, he's limited but it said he looks good so far

Good news, it sounds like he is finally on his way back

...this may have been mentioned already, didnt read the entire thread

Grubbs is much more important in this game against the seahawks than lee evans is. Leave Evans out one more week and get him fully healed because Evans, Smith, Boldin > Smith, Boldin, Williams. not to mention the coming out of our two tight ends and we all know what rice gives us week in and week out

So he's actually trying to play football this year? Well thats nice to know
That's not really fair. I'm sure he's itching to play right now, especially with our offense finally getting it together. I feel like so many aren't even giving him a chance. I think a lot of people will eat their words when he finally gets into action.

some of u are saying we have waited this long so lets wait another week just to be sure, i think the Ravens have brought Evans along at this slow pace because they want to be sure....so if he's ready, he plays

My thinking is that he was probably ready a week or 2 ago so play him now, we need the chemistry and timing down between him and Flacco.

If he was ready against the Steelers, he would have played against the Steelers. Point blank.

You don't hold guys out for that game.

if this cat can play....get him on the field! it's been 9 weeks already. let him get in the game vs Seahawks and shake off those splinters from riding the pine and gain that chemistry with Joe. that way....he will be good and ready vs Bengals! by no means am i saying that the Seahawks will be push overs so we can let Lee play. but, the Bengals is a division game and he's been sitting on the bench for waaaay to long and i wouldn't throw him in that Bengals game cold.
