Merged: Steelers vs Bengals (Which Most Benefits the Ravens?)

78 posts in this topic

Do we pull for ... dare I say it ... the Steelers? I mean at least from a purely theoretical perspective, we hold a tiebreaker over Pitt and not Cincy.

Very hard for me to wrap my head around the concept of pulling for the Steelers, but objectively a Steelers win helps us, no?

Nope. Steelers with a win give them 7 wins. The same wins if we take care of business. They have an easy schedule the rest of the way. The Bengals have a tougher schedule. I'd rather be battling the Bengals to make it to the playoffs/in the playoffs instead of the battle-tested Steelers.

Plus its way to early to really be thinking this scenario as the Bengals still have 4 games against us and the Steelers.

Only good team the bengals have beaten so far is Buffalo...i say let them get into divison play before we start rooting for the Steelers.

I tend to agree. Still, it's crazy to think we'd theoretically be in a better position with a Steelers win. Of course the main thing is to win the division and - no disrespect to Cincy - recent history suggests we should be more concerned about Pitt.

I'm pulling for the Ravens. Why? Because if they handle their own business, it wouldn't matter what the Bengals or the Steelers do. Beat the teams you have the rest of the way and everything will take care of itself.

I'm rooting for those big cats. I'd be very happy to tell Steelers fans who are currently crowing, 'Yea well it won't count until the Ratbirds do that to us in the playoffs, we'll see you there!,' that that particular scenario won't be happening this year.

Ya know the sad thing is as much of a fan of the Ravens as I am we are carbon copy teams and could almost route for the steeler's what kills it for me is the fans. For instance calling Suggs "Thuggs" and what has he done to deserve that. Calling Ray Lewis a murderer, not only is it ignorant but it is completely false, Sayin Ed Reed has always played second fiddle to Troy, I mean I cant stand the idiocy, Now I do have the privilege of being in the Army and there are a whole mess of Steeler fan's here and for the majority so far we can actually watch the game together and give each other props. This whole rivalry has gotten to the point where people actually believe they have control over the outcome.

That being said i hope there is a good game between the Bengals and the Steelers and I pray we see them again, to completely sweep them would pretty much create a power shift in this division.

Root for Cincy. In the end it will be Ravens vs. Steelers for the division. We still play the Bungles twice and that puts it in our hands instead of trying to outpace a team that we have no control over what wins they get. Steelers only shot is if we lose two games more than them the rest of the season. If they lose this one then that affords us 2 losses.

I am pulling for the Squeelers, but only because it will presumably help our AFC North position.

I hope the Bengals win. I do not want to see Pittsburgh in the playoffs, even though we'd have home field.

Not a guarantee just yet there...The Steelers are still only 1 game behind and very capable of winning out on the rest of their schedule...The win last night guaranteed the Ravens nothing with the exception of putting themselves in better position to win the division...

True but I think the Bengals are certainly capable of beating us. I don't know. I really can't say for sure which outcome I prefer from an intellectual standpoint. No question I like watching the Steelers lose though, so emotionally I guess I'm a Bengals fan next weekend.

Which is why I want the Bengals to win. I believe in this team's ability to beat anyone in the league, but if it comes down to a choice of facing the Steelers or the Bengals in the playoffs, I'd rather face the Bengals.

No we hope for a steelers loss now..... Followed by us beating the bengals. We don't care who wins their re-match in 3 weeks in this scenario.

If the bungals really beat the steelers..after their loss from us at their own turf...that will say alot about how good these bengals are. I cant believe they are 6-2 right now. Their defense are ridiculous

No way you pull for the Bengals....then we take care of our own business against the Bengals..we need to put distance between us and the Steelers and I think the Bengals will fade

...but who knows

..or it will say a lot about how much this Ravens/Steelers game takes out of you...we lost after week 1 win against the Steelers so we need to beat Seattle next week

We want the Steelers to lose. Completely knock them out of any chance of getting the division. We will take care of the Beagals ourselves. Although, either way is sort of a win for us. Maybe a split?

The fact that we haven't played the bengals yet makes it hard to answer this question. We've beaten the steelers twice so we know we can handle them. We've had our issues with Cincy in recent years and they seem to be playing well. I'd want the steelers to win simply to pull us even in the loss column with Cincy. we already have tie breakers over Pit. This assumes that we beat Cincy when we play which would put us at advantage with tie breakers and hopefully total losses too.

its a tough call, we haven't been able to see the bungals play many good teams yet so we don't know exactly how good their offense is. i think that the steelers will play mad next week though and will get the win. also flacco historically struggles against the mike zimmer defense so playing against them won't be easy

The fact that the Bengals have won 5 in a row and are way overdue for a bad game and a loss and the fact that the Steelers are coming off a tough tough loss to the Ravens and are going to be out to avenge that and get back on track is a bad recipe in my opinion for the young Bengals...

Assuming we win in Seattle this weekend, what benefits us more, the Steelers or Bengals winning that game? If the Steelers win, we're alone in first with two games against Cincy to play. If Cincy wins, they are still tied with two against us to play, but Pitt is down two games. What do you think is more beneficial?
