On the same token, Ray Rice scored 2 touchdowns on the first drive!

Yeah! And we only got 3 points.

Had to pull out the "Danger: Zebra Crap on the Field" sign early in this one.

Yeah. Also, Torrey said he turned, saw Joe getting pressured and slowed down, thinking of doubling back. The next thing he saw was the ball in the air coming to him. He said that if he had stayed in stride the ball would have dropped right in his hands.

That's OK. Shows Torrey may be thinking out there. But, he needs to learn to leave his feet and lay himself out there on those balls just out of reach. Same for the one he missed earlier in the game. He's young. Hopefully he will learn to make that extra effort. This is where Mason's mentoring would have come in handy.

I heard today that Torrey is third in the league among WRs in yds per catch. We all wonder where he'd rank without the drops , naturally. One stat that can help tell us how productive he's been per play that goes to him is yards per time targeted. This would correct for the drops , but also for times he was overthrown or had a pass deflected. Still , it would help tell us if he's productive enough to keep his starting position even if he continues to drop balls at the rate he has so far.

On this site ....

.... I looked at yards per time targeted for all WRs with >/= 43 times targeted , which is the number he's been targeted so far. Torrey comes up at # 15 at 9.2 yds/target , tied with Fitzgerald , out of a total of 55 WRs. For comparison , Boldin is #24 at 8.6 yds/target. Wallace is #1 at 13.6 yds/tgt.

I want to see Torrey limit his drops , but this tells me he needs to be on the field even if he doesn't , as long as he continues to generate good yardage when the pass comes his way.

For TEs with >30 targets , Pitta comes up #18 out of 27 , at 6.3 yds/tgt , while Dickson is # 25 , at 5.1 yds/tgt.

Torrey has really exceeded my expectations this year so far for sure. I got a chance to watch him play all last year at Maryland and while i had high hopes for him he really scared me early with the amount of dropped balls. That being said, he has made up for it in huge ways so far and i wonder how it will work when Evans is back with all three of them.

I was very impressed with Flacco on the last drive. Smith dropping that ball in the end-zone has gotta hurt when your throwing a near perfect pass but he didnt seem to care one bit. Going back to the same target and getting it done.

He really did look amazingly poised. My favorite play (other than the touchdown of course) was the sure strike to Boldin on 4th and 1. He knew exactly where he was going and didnt hesitate one bit. That was when i had a really good feeling about the drive.

On positive note, it's good that Torrey dropped the first ball and made the 2nd one cuz if he'd made the first one, Big Ben will have 20s with 2 timeouts which he will drive for FG or TD. We left him with 8s left which pretty much sealed the game.

Yep that's what I thought after the the catch that won it for us. Worked out perfectly for the Ravens.
