Boldin's 4Th & 1 Catch = Clutch!

35 posts in this topic

our boys put on a great show last night! Joe was awesome! Torrey responded big time! BUT...let's not forget Boldin's 4th & 1 crucial catch to keep that game-winning drive alive! WOW! thanks Q.

yes it was amazing! but we wouldn't be talking about it if we ended up losing, instead referring to his crucial drop on 3rd down. Almost broke something in the household over that!

Well, you did put "= clutch" in the title and Mr Pitta didnt have any drops, while Mr B had two. Not knocking anyone, just further messing with ~Mili :)

That's why we traded for him, big-bodied WR that can beat the DB on the slants. He's been great the last couple of weeks. Still drops his fair share, though.

Oops! My bad, brother. Q is the man, this week and last. If he doesn't make that catch, we'd all be crying about it today. Loves me some quan. Here's to hoping he instills his tougness and work ethic in our young pups.

lets also not forget his drops as well, a nice one he caught but then inexplicably he popped it out of his own hands, fell down and tried to secure the ball...its ruled not a catch after a look at replay, and the drop on the last drive as well

at the time these were huge and coming off last season when he dropped a TD against the Steelers that could have won us that game, Boldin sure had come up small in high pressure situations

not a hater, I really am a fan, have been since his days in AZ, just saying...Torrey had drops too, but yes they got it done, i am happy...i just hope going forward they dont have drops in key sitations

I think Boldin is our most clutch receiver we have though. The bulk of the catches in the 4th quarter were made by Boldin against the Jags. Same with Cards in the 2nd half. And of course last night. He is really our true go to receiver.

He is the most proven, he's the veteran and I think he is capable of leading this group of young WRs, also Lee Evans is a good veteran presence..wish he could get healthy and contribute, sounds like he is close

i definitely like where the offense is heading, if Torrey Smith keeps emerging, Boldin and Joe are starting to find chemistry, Pitta is emerging along with Dickson...offense has explosive potential

not really messing with me 1/28/01 cause to me....to catch a pass on 4th & 1 is CLUTCH! it is interesting how many of you here quickly focus on his drops when this thread is about his crucial catch to keep the drive going. so now, which would you cats rather Boldin drop? a few other passes...or...a 4th & 1 pass to keep the drive alive? it is amazing how quickly threads float off topic in this place. Need to get Q some stats, man. He's starving for a TD!

Edited due to overuse of the word "man".
Here's the only stat that matters: since Q arrived, the Ravens are 19-7 including the playoffs.

I think Flacco finally learned how to utilize Boldin by just throwing it somewhere where he can make a play on it and not just waiting for him to be wide open. Boldin has been great these past few weeks, I just wish he would get more td's. I think he'll have a run of games where he scores though since the offense seems to be getting back on track.

It would be nice if Boldin had hands like Dennis Pitta. It was a nice catch on 4th and 1, but really we wouldn't be in that situation if the guy had caught all the passes that hit him in the hands, like Pitta. Boldin is a bum!

Yea, what's with that? I've been following Q since he came in the league, and he wouldn't drop a thing. Kind of odd to see really.

I like how we actually used Boldin in the SLOT where her tears defenses apart. Can't wait to see what we can do once we get Evans back, keep Boldin in the slot, and have Torrey on the other side.

Im not to down on giving too many props on our receivers on steelers game. They dropped so much catchable balls. They need to improve and execute better. Especially Torrey & Dickson.

your right about that. but you have to admit that it was a step in the right direction by torrey, catching the game winning td after those drops. that's what makes men out of those boys...

The thing that I found odd with Q on Sunday was that fumble he had. I believe they called it incomplete, but he caught the ball and knocked it out with his arm or something as he was tucking it to run. It was bizarre.

Did you watch the video of him being interviewed after the game in the locker room? He even said (and I'm paraphrasing here), '....I was in Cam's ear, telling him to give me the ball [put me in the slot] and he found a way to do that,'.

I agree 4th and 1 was huge for us, and I was technially shaking when Joe snapped the ball on 4th down. Last year nightmare for failing the last drive was literally creeping up on me. I jumped off my couch and fist pumped when Boldin caught the pass.

PS: I'm flying off to the ceiling for Torrey's TD.........
