National Media Spin on Ravens-Steelers II

79 posts in this topic

Pardon the interruption barely mentioned The Ravens-Steelers game
And didn't even mention Flacco's name.

But they had a lot of love for Eli and Tim Tebow.

I am soooo sick of hearing these clowns talk about Smith's Supposed "pushoff" It is like they are completely blind to the fact that he was being grabbed and pulled all the way down the field. It was there, it is on film, and they cut that part out and just show Smith with the pushoff off to get the defenders hands off him. It is amazing.

I doubt the players care at all. They know what they did last night. Neither the Steelers or the Ravens players need their egos stroked by the media. I actually don't like it when the media talks up the Steelers...I'd rather them play underdog and be disrespected. Pisses them off more lol.
Yeah I doubt they do either. I wouldn't haha. As a fan, I'd also like to be the underdog in every game. I don't like being "expected" to win because that has to be hard on the those teams like the pitts and pats.

I liked the NBC postgame when they cut to Tony Dungy who was going on and on about the poor pitt defense selection. Complete denial.

Also why does he always have that creepy deer in the headlights look ???

We did what we everyone was convinced couldn't be done. We beat the Steelers twice. Now, we need to boot them out of the playoffs to shut up the critics.

If we would have lost we would have been front page news, but the fact we won, we slip right under the radar. They will make any excuse for the Steelers. I woke up early just so I could watch ESPN and read up on everything around the nation. But surprise, surprise, people aren't giving the Ravens much respect for the game. That was one of the best finishes of the YEAR, and if that was Brady throwing a game winning td it would have been number 1 on the top ten plays. But nope, Ravens get their 30 seconds on tv, and people move on.

I mean its annoying but it really shouldn't be unexpected. I said it in the Bold predictions thread. "The ravens win and still don't get respected from the critics, but then again that's not really a bold prediction". Just keep winning. Our team does better under the radar anyway.

Actually, I thought the attention might start shifting our way a little bit.. I turned to to ESPN right after the game and they didn't complain about the "penalty's" the Ravens had. Of course, it was Trent Dilfer... But he praised Flacco and thought he just took the next step into coming an elite QB. I forget who else was with him but it was a guy and a girl, they weren't analysis's. And they were completely agreeing with Trent.

I feel like from a National Media perspective the Ravens get respect from the analysts that actually know what they are talking about .For instance on ESPN before the game Jaws, Mort, Dilfer, Michael Smith all had us winning, but they arent the ones who get to talk a lot. Peter King and Michael Lombardi both gave props to Flacco and the Ravens. The guys on Around the Horn also gave props to the Ravens.

Even the computers at ESPN are biased against the Ravens:

"AccuScore, ESPN's prediction machine, is giving the Pittsburgh Steelers the nod over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night. Based on the simulations, the Steelers win 71 percent of the time. The outcome, according to AccuScore, could sway back to the Ravens if Joe Flacco doesn't fumble the ball. He's already lost as many fumbles this season (four) as all of last season."

I don't know what it is but everytime I tuned into NFLN they were praising Joe Flacco. Warren Sapp just said that his win was bigger than Eli's because no one is afraid of the Pats defense except for Bill Belichick, but the Steelers have a good D.

They just discussed the Steelers/Ravens on ESPN, Merril Hodge started in on the "Lamar Woodley was out" excuse. (rough quote) "Well they did have some injuries, Lamar Woodley. Would he have made a few plays to win the game?... Yeah I think so".

Great, because it must be just bad luck that the Steelers are the only team with any injuries, and just a coincidence that their starters get injured when they never rotate in any help.
Lets also state that Evans was out, and Grubbs was coming back a bit rusty as well. So we had some injuries as well.

The Ravens based on the rest of their schedule control their own destiny for the number 1 seed and homefield throughout in the playoffs. So the Ravens will get their respect I believe and they do deserve it. In the end though all that will matter will be how Joe Flacco and the Ravens perform come playoff time and if he can finally take them to the Super Bowl in a year where the AFC is wide open and the Ravens for the taking...

thats what some media were saying too, so before the season and these wins it was Flacco and the Ravens cant beat the Steelers with Ben, not in Pittsburgh..and as soon as we did its....well, this only really counts in the post season, Flacco cant win in the playoffs

Cant wait to shut them all up....hopefully we play the Steelers and BEAT them a 3rd time then that'll show everyone, never speak a word again on Joe Flacco and the Ravens

Did anyone noticed what Collinsworth was saying after the Ravens scored and the Steelers took over with like 8 seconds left??? He was saying the Steelers still have enough time to get a quick play down the field, stop the clock and kick a FG to tie it...Even Al Michaels was kinda like shocked by what he was saying. It was absurd. I cant remember AL's quote exactly but it had the tone of he thought Cris is out of his mind. Collinsworth hates the Ravens... All night i found myself saying "Shut up cris"

I just deleted everything I was originally going to post for this because I got so off-topic hating on the media. Bottom line is sflegend89 is right. I spent about an hour and a half waiting to hear about us on ESPN after the game and we barely got any recognition. I can't thank Trent Dilfer enough though. He gave Flacco credit where credit was due. He's the only person who did. I'm baffled and a bit disgusted by Deion Sanders saying Ray's hit was dirty and that Torrey Smith pushed off. Then he said Boldin wasn't interfered with. I know he was a DB and praises them, but come on, man. We let you play your last year with us and you disrespect us like that. You were the best CB to ever play the game, but as a person, that's low, Deion.

Yeah all night I found myself saying the same thing, except I also said something else that can't be repeated on here about he and James Harrison being lovers. He's hot and cold. He was great during the Jets game, but he has a crush on the Stoolers.

what they say or don't say about our Ravens don't matter! our Ravens just gotta keep balling and taking care of their own business the rest of the way!

Let's keep doing what we're doing..we won't get ignored. They will come to us. Although I heard Cowherd say Joe was "pretty good" in a positive way..that made my day, since he's such a die hard Romo fan, I think it took a lot for him to say it.

It really is annoying. Just a very short mention, whereas if the Steelers would won they would be drooling all over it.

I love Wilbon and Kornheiser, but they both said that the Steelers are still the best team in the AFC North. REALLY?
