National Media Spin on Ravens-Steelers II

79 posts in this topic

I expected the game to get plenty of love on ESPN and NFL Network, I thought after a performance like that Joe will finally get the talking heads singing his praises on TV just for 1 week at least. Wishful thinking I suppose, also thought they just might spin it and talk about injuries/ray's hit/torrey's "push".. And that was exactly what they did. The NFL Network crew didn't say one good thing about Flacco the entire show. They just did the highlights cried and complained about ray's hit and torrey's "push", then didn't even spend a second on the Ravens/Flacco in analysis. The most exited they got the whole time was for Big Ben's scramble, not even Joe's 92 yard 2 minute drill TD. They treat Ravens-Steelers II like a non issue and pump up the Pats-Giants game for twice the air time.

Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN 2 continued the disrespect by simply saying the ravens won the game, complaining about the same things as NFL network guys. Then go into DEEP analysis on Pats-Giants and Jets-Bills. SERIOUSLY? You spend 30 seconds on the game of the year so far and go onto drool over ELI MANNING. Yet no mention of Flacco who had a longer game winning drive against the #2 D opposed to the 32nd ranked D. So the plan for the national media is simple, pretend like it didn't happen. If we don't talk about it, people will forget. Shame on these people for not giving credit where credits due. If Big Ben has that same drive it would be plastered over every sports channel for a week.

Forget the talking heads, we know we have a "damn good" quarterback. GO RAVENS!!!

Just remember...ESPN is in Bristol,CT so they are darlings NY &Bos sports scene. We should expect nothing else from them. And i think the NFL Network is in NYC so unless there is some type of scandel envolving some other team outside the circle forget about it!

That's a shame. I may hate the hell out your team...but that was THE game of the week, hands down...and definitely deserved a lot more analysis then it got.

The talking heads have hard ons for SB teams though, and so there's tons of Packers and Steelers blubbering going on (moreso than I've heard in a long time anyway).

I for one though can't believe all the attention the Pats still get from the media. LET IT DIE ALREADY!

No surprises there, I hate for us to even bring up stuff like this because when it comes down to it, none of us really care what they say, see Harbs' Roosevelt quote in the post game presser. But its really hard not to see the bias. If PIT had won, we would be enjoying nonstop Pennsylvania coverage today with the Eagles game looming, with some smatterings of the big market teams. Its ok though man, we all know what the records and standings currently say, so forget 'em. Greenberg was actually giving us some props after the Cardinals game last week while Golic just said "The Steelers are coming." Yup and they are in the rear view now Golic, how ya like those apples?

This should not surprise anybody if we came back in the SB to outscore the Patriots nobody would say anything, except for how awesome Bellichik and Brady are. They would not even realized it was 2 AFC teams.

it is unfortunate because you know if the Steelers had won we would be seeing constant coverage and the Ravens bashers would be out in full force
It is maddening. I was surprised at Deion actually during the game highlights. He even said Pitt was still the class of the AFC North above a team that knocked 'em off twice. What the hell Deion?

I get nothing but Jets love around me and pretty much everyone wrote of the Giants after the Seahawks game. Now the Pats game has everyone talking and ofcourse the Jets knockin off a bad Bills team. My drive to work I think I heard barely a clip about the Ravens /Steelers.

Glad I downloaded "The 105.7 Fan App". I can atleast get the local talking heads

Sad how they try and put Eli and Flacco together. Like "They both came back to win the game!". No, Eli Manning had a drive against the terrible Pats D, and Joe came back against the top-ranked Steelers D. Even if they were both comebacks, they don't deserve to be in the same sentence.

Ravens haven't been getting any respect & idk how the "Game of the week" is Giants/Pats. It was a good game Ravens/Steelers is must see football. Today Skip Bayless said Ravens winning was a fluke. Deion Sanders already looking into his crystal ball saying "its tough to beat Pitt. 3 times." smh

I think "Prime" is forgetting where he played the last 2 seasons of his career. I've never heard a former Raven whine and complain as to Why Pittsburgh should have won and how "Even tho they lost both games, they are still the best team in the AFC North" Suggggga Please!

I noticed the same thing. Hardly any coverage and Prime complained the whole highlight reel."That was a push, did you see rays hit." Then like someone mentioned, he said it's tough to beat a team 3 times, mentioning the playoffs if we were to play them again. Give me a break.

I could careless about the media. Just sucks for the players who do well. Hopefully they don't care.

They just discussed the Steelers/Ravens on ESPN, Merril Hodge started in on the "Lamar Woodley was out" excuse. (rough quote) "Well they did have some injuries, Lamar Woodley. Would he have made a few plays to win the game?... Yeah I think so".

Great, because it must be just bad luck that the Steelers are the only team with any injuries, and just a coincidence that their starters get injured when they never rotate in any help.

I really don't know what we have to prove to the media. We destroyed the Media Diva Jets, Beat the Division Leading Texans, Beat the "Class of the AFC north twice" and yet we still seem to not have a chance or even be in the big picture? I like it tho. We play hungry as the underdog. Ask the media how they felt when we shocked the world in 2008 and went to the AFC championship.

I doubt the players care at all. They know what they did last night. Neither the Steelers or the Ravens players need their egos stroked by the media. I actually don't like it when the media talks up the Steelers...I'd rather them play underdog and be disrespected. Pisses them off more lol.

Hodge is such a homer that I would not be surprised if he Said Dennis Dixon would have made a few plays to win the game had he not been out.

I love it. Our guys seem to play better when we're the underdogs. Our guys almost thrive on a Ravens vs The world mentality. I don't need the thumbs up from biased has beens to know that this is a damn good team. I'll take Joe Over Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers right now. I don't think people realize how few qb's can 2 minute drill a 92 yd TD drive @ pitt against the #2 ranked D in such a hostile environment, in a rivalry game. People wouldn't bash Brady if he couldn't do it. I think it hasn't even set in for anyone yet.. This is the game where Joe never looks back. he took the next step!

Just realized that the Steeler backup QB is a combination of our two tight ends, Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson (pronounced, obviously, Dixon.)

This is a completely useless thing I just realized, but now I can't un-see it.

Yeah, we still get zero respect on all the sports shows... all anyone can talk about today are the seemingly overrated Bengals. Whatever.

Wow, Wilbon and Kornheiser just listed Pittsburgh ahead of us for the division because of our two let down games... so pathetic. Did we not just sweep them?? Give me a break!!
