Sergio Kindle....what Is Going On?

39 posts in this topic

Guy is coming back from a skull fracture and being out of football for a year. He doesn't contribute on special teams. Kruger and McPhee have stepped up as pass rushers. That's where we stand.

I have no doubt in my mind though that Kindle will eventually make an impact, just might not be this year.

No active for a plethora of reasons. Everyone ahead of him is playing lights out. Who would you suggest sits out?

Kruger is playing well and probably bringing him along slowly, the question to me though is where was Jimmy?  Gorrer was on the PS and saw immediate game time after being activated but I don't think I saw Jimmy on defense once, maybe a good coverage?

Yeah, the guys ahead of him are playing out of their minds. Kruger is straight up clutch in those situational pass rush opportunities.

Sergio still has a lot of things he must overcome before seeing regular playing time, but I'm confident he will get their eventually. I'm telling ya, our young group of pass rushers is beyond impressive.

Somebody everybody has also forgotten is McAdoo. When he gets the chance to compete next preseason, we will have ANOTHER young gun with HUGE UPSIDE. He's an athletic freak.

Where is he?
He's not ready yet, why are y'all not getting that? If he was practicing well enough to be put ahead of the others that are active he would be active.

The same thing happened when we drafted Kruger. He had to earn his roster spot via special teams and developing into more than just a 3rd down pass rusher.

Same with Sergio, it's pretty much his rookie year and he's just gotta develop

Another thing to remember is it's not as though we can afford to play him over a STer right now because our ST coverage (and returns to an extent) suck.

I hope we don't release him after this year
Unless he screws up off the field agian, why would the team release him? He's still a highly athletic LB with upside. And he was their first pick on draft day just last year. Even if he contributes little this year, he'll be given more time to make an impact.

because he was only signed to a one year deal after the injury was he not? but i doubt any other team would be interested so we can pretty much offer him whatever and he has to take it if he wants a career as a football player. I would like to see kindle kruger suggs and mcphee all in though.. Ngata at NT, Suggs RE McPhee LE kindle and kruger OLBs 5 man rush 6 in coverage, that would be arguably the best 5 man rush in the league

I read awhile ago that we have him under a one year contract and depending on how he performs this year will decide if we keep him. Plus Kruger really stepping up

We gave him a one year contract to see if he can take contact over a prolonged time. Kindle seems able to play and is talented. I'm sure we'll give him contract, but on the cheap.

We have the No. 2 defense without Kindle (should be No. 1 but Texans had an easy win over the Browns). If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I had actually been thinking about that, after being away from football for as long as he was to do what he did in preseason is beyond impressive, he may replace redding, or we could move redding inside, or once we draft a young outside backer, we could have, Ngata and Cody in the middle and mcphee and mcadoo on the outside. He could bring a lot of things to the table for this team

Pass rush has been doing so good with the exception of the Titans game and this game that it's hard for him to see the field, plain and simple.

I like Kindle but I think with Kruger coming along at OLB I think I would be ok with cutting ties with Kindle at the end of the season. I think our pass rush is pretty well with Kruger, Suggs, JJ, and our defensive line is going to be a beast with McPhee playing on the same line as Ngata and Mt. Cody. He is looking like another second round pick gone wrong but Kindle only has himself to blame.

McAdoo isnt an inside lineman. His skill set and body type doesnt fit that.

If you read Mike Preston's articles and you can believe anything he writes, a few or so ago someone asked him about Sergio Kindle and why he's not on the field.

The guy asked is Sergio just not good enough, not smart enough, or not able to learn the playbook/get time on the field??

Preston said its a combination of all those things....I think we need to give Kindle a year, lets see what he has next year...if he can get on the field, its tough now

Paul Kruger and Pernell McPhee are stepping up as pass rushers

i think the Ravens are taking a very cautious approach to Sergio. Yes hes cleared for contact and yes hes been cleared to play but a Head injury is a head injury. Head Injuries are something you.do.not.mess.around.with.end.of.story. he showed everyone that he can be the Pass Rusher they hoped he'd be when the Ravens drafted him, so the team is very comfortable with that tid bit of info allowing them to say "ok he can play, and play well...but the head injury is something that takes time." so time is what they are giving him, its quite possibly the best possible scenario for Sergio. not to mention guys infront of him are playing "lights out" as you all have said.

If you remember... Kruger didnt play right off the bat either, it took him 2-3 seasons. to get into the mix.

the Ravens are comfortable with where they are at with Sergio. he's shown he can play and take a hit. and perform quite well. the Ravens take assurance in that fact. so let him wait and heal more. why rush a guy back with that type of head injury? theres no rush.

patience.people. Patience.

I know I am totally at lost for words. Mike Preston mentioned something about his work ethic. As I have said before, I've watched Sergio play football since he was 15 years old. Work ethic has never been a problem. He played both sides of the ball in high school, never leaving the field, never wanting to leave the field. At Texas, Will Muschamp use to show the team videos of Sergio's workouts to show the others how it is done. Have you seen the body of this kid? Nobody works out harded than him.

All I can say, which I have said before, is Mack Brown let Sergio ride the bench his first two years. I'm not even sure he would have ever started if it had not been for Muschamp arriving Serge's junior year. He put him on the field, and Sergio rewarded him by making All-American that year. Just hope Harbaugh isn't making the same mistake Mack Brown did.

I just don't get it. I thought he looked good during the preseason. I don't expect him to be starting. But, to constantly be a healthy player made inactive for all but one game??

Kruger is killing it right now, he needs to work on special teams play if he wants to suit up.
