Team I'm Worried About: The Bengals

I watched a lot of the bengals game yesterday, as I was routing for all the afc teams to with 2 losses to lose with exception of us The Ravens. Anyway Chris Johnson started the game off with a 2 - 10+ yd runs hassleback was hitting targets I thought the Bengals were gonna get blow out at one point... Then their defense locked down and dalton started spreading short passes around. 2 Tds later they had the lead... Never looked back....
The offensive line kept false starting and holding but Andy dalton would just pick up the first down.....

Also the Titans offense just isn't the same without Britt

Good for us they'll be fresh off a Steelers game. They're gonna be banged up, and I'm not sure Dalton's confidence won't take a shot either.

The Bengals have looked good, against lesser teams, teams with losing records, teams with suspect defenses and mediocre offenses. I'm not too worried about them yet, their real schedule starts this week coming up against the Steelers and that will tell me more.

we shall see, they do play good defense but their offense is young and intimidation is a great thing, when they face our D its tough and our offense can move the ball 90+ yards against the best defense in the NFL

I don't know about everyone else, but the last time I got this excited about a Raven game was when we won the Super Bowl. Thank you Ravens and if we play them again at least I hope it will be in Baltimore.

One of the biggest surprises for me is watching Andy Dalton and the Bengals defense take this team to a 6-2 record thus far. We still have to play them twice this season, and it is not going to be a guaranteed win, they are going to fight since they are in definite race for the division title. I know about taking one game at a time, but looking forward, if we want this division, we have to out play Cincinnati, and it is not going to be easy.

The Bengals are one of the few teams that have consistently matched up well against the Ravens. It's not necessarily their talent or their scheme; it's the personnel that they have. This has been the case since 2004, even in seasons where the Bengals struggled.

So yes, I'm worried about the Bengals, but not because of their record or their offensive explosion.
One exception. We finally have a Cov 2 beater in Torrey Smith. He just has to hold onto the ball. Id be very surprised if Dalton does the same things that Palmer did to us. He wont make Palmer's mistakes, but I cant see Dalton beating us if he drops back 30+ times and we dont turn the ball over like fools.

Would it be better for Cincy to win Sunday or Pitt??
Ha! I've been going back and forth on this. Another Pitt loss would serve us well but currently Cincy sits ahead of us due to tiebreakers. My initial thought is let Pitt take them down. Then though, do they become more focused the next week vs us? Maybe. Still, they are coming to OUR house so I say it serves us best for Pitt to take down those pesky Cats.

U are right they will be banged up from playing the steelers. Reading that had me thinking I wonder what injuries will steelers have after playing us leaving them more vulnerable lol

I will be pulling for the Bengals. I prefer watching Pitts chances of making the playoffs squash. We hold our own destiny with having the Bengals twice.

I'm just glad Carson Palmer is out of the AFCN. He always came to play and usually stole a win right from under us.
i am also glad that they lost joseph. he had joes number. gonna be a great game though. we have to see how the steelers handle them. i don't see the bengals having a chance against the steelers this week. harrison seems to be hungry after missing some games. woodley might be back and we all know what this means...

Comparing schedules between us, the Steelers and the Bengals, Steelers have the best outlook in terms of winning the rest of their remaining games. We got da chargers and 9ers coming up and I’m confident we can beat them both. if we get blow out wins against the chargers and 9ers, I definitely see a super bowl bound team. Just getting over those 2 teams can keep us going strong in to January. Joe was clutch as hell in the Steelers game, I think he was very confident against them and also he didn’t keep taking long bombs on them. Chargers are and probably have fell apart at this point and the 9ers are playing nice fundamental football. Getting a W against them both is the deciding factors for the playoffs. Bengals don’t worry me they will crumble against our D, the Steelers gotta worry about them not us.

I don't think the Bengals are as good as their record per se, but it scares me when overachieving teams put together a bunch of wins. They start forgetting that they're supposed to lose and that's when it gets dangerous. See the 2007 New York Giants.

The good news is we get a sneak preview this Sunday when they play the Steelers. And Im not too concerned about them. They barely pulled it out over the Bills and the Titans, and they lost to the 49ers... and the Broncos. Their real test will come when they play the Steelers twice and us twice.

I would rather for the Bengals to beat the Steelers b/c the Bengals more than likely will falter in the second half of the season and the Steelers have a favorable schedule the rest of the way. Like someone said earlier, its a win-win situation for us regardless of what happens but the farther we can pull away from the Steelers even with us sweeping them, the better IMO.

Not to be taken lightly, AT ALL, but....

They beat Cleveland by 10
They beat Jacksonville by 10
They beat Indianapolis by 10
They beat Tennessee by 7
They beat Buffalo by 3
AND LOSS TO DENVER!!

Yes, we had our upsets this year as well (Jags), but we have also blown some teams out where Cincy has only done that to Seattle.

Cincy will go 0-2 the next two games!
Now I see why the Bengals are ahead of us despite the fact that we are 2-0 in the division and they are 1-0. Since we haven't played them yet, there is no Divisional games to go off of just yet but they beat 2 teams we lost to, now I get why ESPN says they are ahead based on common opponents.

With the exception of Pittsburg, the bengals played the same teams as the ravens so the who has the bengals played argument is really weak.By the way what's the bengals overall record against the ravens? So ravens fans should be alittle worried.
Bengals played the same teams???

Ravens don't play the Bills or Broncos so I don't know about the whole "ravens played the same teams" argument considering we played 2 different teams since we finished 2nd in the division and the Bengals were dead last thus got 2 last place opponents. Though I do understand what you mean but I would like just like to point that out.

We will see what the Bengals are made of in the next 2 weeks then again in Week 13 when they play the Steelers again and Week 14 against the Texans, which should have Andre Johnson back. and we'll see if the Bengals have kept up by the time they play the Ravens again in Week 17.

Its still weird though, cause divisional record is before common opponents. Therefore, 2-0 is better than 1-0, at least thats how I see it.

Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.

100% is tied with 100%. That's why it is so hard to determine the divisional outlook when they've only had 1 divisional game and we've had 2. There is still a ton of divisional ball left.

We lost to the Titans and Jags.

I think we'll beat the Bengals, and as long as I'm a Ravens fan I will never be scared of a rookie QB. But don't overlook anybody.

They have a good defense, and they have run the ball well...Andy Dalton has limited mistakes

...sounds familiar to what the Ravens and other teams have done. They really haven't played anyone yet, and the tough team they did play, the 49ers, they lost to...am I right? I think anyway

I think that 6-2 is the product of a soft schedule, but with that success breeds some confidence and that not so good team could believe they are good and pose some problems. I think our defense shuts down their run game and Dalton is forced to beat our D, I think Ed Reed would read this kids eyes and take it to the house

they will be a tough game because of their defense...im actually going to this game, my 2nd game in two years, hopefully dont run into too many drunks trying to fight(not me, someone else), happened once last year but other than that it was a great time...

The better news is that it is a win/win situation for us. If the Bengals lose, we take a game up on them. If the Steelers lose, they are yet another game behind us. This naturally comes down to us taking care of business in Seattle. Not to mention that the Bengals have to come to our house the following week and could be a little battle scarred from playing the Steelers.
