Team I'm Worried About: The Bengals

76 posts in this topic

One of the biggest surprises for me is watching Andy Dalton and the Bengals defense take this team to a 6-2 record thus far. We still have to play them twice this season, and it is not going to be a guaranteed win, they are going to fight since they are in definite race for the division title. I know about taking one game at a time, but looking forward, if we want this division, we have to out play Cincinnati, and it is not going to be easy.

Look at who they have played.
Dalton is going to be a great QB and Green will be here to stay but they playing marshmellows.

I would take the steelers and the Ravens over them when it gets cold and teams have to run the ball in the bad weather.

I'm just glad Carson Palmer is out of the AFCN. He always came to play and usually stole a win right from under us.

No denying that the Bengles have a good young hungry team that has been successful to this point though I still believe they are a year or two away from contending in the AFC North. They have benefited from an easy schedule to this point and one of their loses came against a good niners team (that was an ugly game which the Bengals couldnt generate any offense). They also beat an up and down Buffalo team which like the Bengals are a year or so away. Starting this week against the Steelers they will slide off (and the Ravens should beat them twice). They have not faced a defense like Baltimore or Pittsburgh. I already have them clocked at four more losses there

The Bengals are one of the few teams that have consistently matched up well against the Ravens. It's not necessarily their talent or their scheme; it's the personnel that they have. This has been the case since 2004, even in seasons where the Bengals struggled.

So yes, I'm worried about the Bengals, but not because of their record or their offensive explosion.

Would it be better for Cincy to win Sunday or Pitt??
[/quote]
This week it probably will be better for the Steelers to win since the Ravens own the head to head tiebraker over them and the Bengals are tied with the Ravens at 6-2. In the long run though, I still think the Steelers are the team the Ravens are going to have to hold off in the end to win this division not the Bengals. The Steelers have a pretty winnable schedule the rest of the way if they can get by the Bengals this weekend. They got KC,Cincy and Cleveland at home, the Rams at home,at the Niners and at the Browns.

Not to be taken lightly, AT ALL, but....

They beat Cleveland by 10
They beat Jacksonville by 10
They beat Indianapolis by 10
They beat Tennessee by 7
They beat Buffalo by 3
AND LOSS TO DENVER!!

Yes, we had our upsets this year as well (Jags), but we have also blown some teams out where Cincy has only done that to Seattle.

Cincy will go 0-2 the next two games!

I will be pulling for the Bengals. I prefer watching Pitts chances of making the playoffs squash. We hold our own destiny with having the Bengals twice.

Cinci still has a very good defense. Glad JJ is gone from there, because he gave Flacco fits, but I'm worried about them because I know Flacco has historically struggled against them. Of course, he historically has struggled against the Steelers, too, and we see how that went this season. I believe, at the end of the day, the Ravens and Flacco will find a way to get it done against the Bengals.

I'd rather the Bengals win. I'd rather see them in the playoffs than the Steelers, even if the Steelers game would be at home.

The Bengals have always had our number on the road. Last time we beat them at their place was 2008 when they were atrocious. Since then, I cant remember. Even in 2006 when we were unstoppable they beat us.

With the exception of Pittsburg, the bengals played the same teams as the ravens so the who has the bengals played argument is really weak.By the way what's the bengals overall record against the ravens? So ravens fans should be alittle worried.

i've watched a few Bengals games this year, they don't scare me unless they beat the steelers next week. If they do it's game on. I have a feeling though that the Steelers are going to win big against cincy.

We'll see just what they are made of here soon. They are a surprising 6-2 and Opie Taylor has played better than expected, and AJ Green has played as well as advertised. They are not as good as us or the Steelers yet, but I think they can play. They have a good O-line, good targets and a good defense. But Andy Dalton hasn't played an offense like the ones he faces the next two weeks. I will take those defenses over him any day of the week.

The team that scares me the most is this one, one week we look like a juggernaut the next week, I am not even sure some guys have ever seen a football. If we consistently play around our peak than I fear nobody.

I agree. But Dalton will be facing the Steelers and ravens D in the next 2 weeks not good for a rookie qb. Bengals always give us trouble though so we definitely need to play physical like its a Steelers game. If Bengals beat Pitt then I would be convinced this team is forreal

Idk I'm not too worried about the Bengals. It's going to be a defensive battle but I cant see a rookie QB having success against our defense. Benson usually tears us up but our D is better this year. We have Jimmy Smith to cover Green in the future too.

I watched a lot of the bengals game yesterday, as I was routing for all the afc teams to with 2 losses to lose with exception of us The Ravens. Anyway Chris Johnson started the game off with a 2 - 10+ yd runs hassleback was hitting targets I thought the Bengals were gonna get blow out at one point... Then their defense locked down and dalton started spreading short passes around. 2 Tds later they had the lead... Never looked back....
The offensive line kept false starting and holding but Andy dalton would just pick up the first down.....

Also the Titans offense just isn't the same without Britt

It's a win/win for us this week. Bengals win would knock the steelers to 6-4 in a tight AFC playoff race..... Bengals 7-2 with next game vs us.
Steelers win would have both of those teams with a record of 6-3 with bengals playing us...
Best case scenario to me. Is Ravens take care of Seahawks in impressive fashion 7-2.... Bengals beat steelers. Then we play bengals beat them.
Then those two teams will meet again 2weeks later so they could knock each other out the race for their 2nd meeting.
