Going to the west coast it'll be tough....for the 1st half after that Ravens should impose their will against the team that allows the most sacks

The Seahawks are middle of the league when it comes to both passing defense and rushing defense. We should have success doing both next week. Hopefully Lee Evans can get healthy and Ben Grubbs' getting a full week of reps in with the rest of the offensive line will result in better protection. After two loses to bad teams, I'm sure the Ravens are preparing for this game with just as much focus and drive as they did for last night's game. The games I'm worried the most about are the ones against Cinci, since Joe has historically struggled against them.

Just wanted to drop by from Seahawks country and say great win yesterday! Congrats! Like a lot of Seahawk fans, my second favorite team is any team that is playing the Stealers! Nice work.

Hopefully we can get some football talk going this week, if you have any Seahawk questions, fire away. I realize most of you probably don't know much about the Hawks, as we don't get much exposure tucked up here in the Pacific Northwest, and aren't exactly lighting the league on fire in our 2nd year of a massive rebuild.

But fire away if you have any questions.

I'll answer some things I already saw in this thread:
they have Marshawn Lynch and Tavaris Jackson...was he hurt this season?
Yes, Jackson has a torn pec muscle, but is playing through it. Tough guy.
They seem to be giving up a lot of points.
The defense is actually playing pretty well, the problem is time of possession, they're on the field.... a lot. They wear down. Run defense is very stout, coming into the Dallas game, they lead the NFL in rushing yards per attempt. I believe now we're tied with you at 3.4 yards per attempt which is 2nd in the NFL. Very stout run defense. DeMarco Murray ran well against them, but up until then they've been solid.

We have two young very talented safeties in Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, both very good. Unfortunately we're banged up at corner, Marcus Trufant and Walter Thurmond are on IR.
Lets see Seattle has like no quarterback why didn't they resign Hasslebeck. Tavaris isn't the answer what were they thinking.
Before the lockout they were close to signing Hass, but it didn't happen. During the lockout something happened and the interest cooled on the Seahawks side, they actually let Hass walk. At this point we think they just wanted someone more mobile, durable. Behind this very young inexperienced offenisve line, Hass wouldn't have survived. Jackson is just a bridge QB, a temp, until they find their franchise guy.

If you are going by total yardage, yes we'd be ranked 14th, but that can be deceiving. The Hawks have been playing from behind a lot, teams rush more, run out the clock, etc. We've had a lot of rushing attempts against our D.

But the true indicator is the rushing yards per attempt. Most of the season we were #1 in that category. But now are ranked #2 (tied) with your defense. (Thanks DeMarco Murray)

Welcome! You'll find we're a pretty classy and professional group of fans, as this is the official team site. Good luck all other weeks :D

i wouldn't call the Titans or Jaguars games or even this game vs the Seahawks as a "trap" game!

the truth of the matter is that imo the Ravens gotta stop playing "down" to their opponent levels and play up to their "own" ability! while i will never say that there are games that are or should be automatic wins (because this is the nfl..any team can shock another), when you have a solid squad on both sides of the ball, you expect great things from that team. our Ravens have that! the Seahawks spot is a tough place to play but i wouldn't think that no place is tougher for the Ravens to play than Heinz Field. we need to build off of the momentum from last night, stay focused, take the Seahawks seriously regardless of their 1-6 record and handle our own business and get out of there with a win cause we still have to face the Bengals and Browns shortly!

The thing that worries me is the jet lag. If the Ravens players all have that sleepy-eyed look on game day , I'll be freaked.

Except for Flacco , of course. I get worried about him when he doesn't have that look.

Lag shouldn't be an issue... we're flying in on Friday evening and will have all day Saturday to adjust :)

These guys are pros. If we have to worry about jet lag, we've got serious issues. Serious.
Especially since it's a 3 hour difference, it's not like they are flying overseas lol

They better be done celebrating as of today and watching film. Seattles defense is middle of pack but they tough on 3rd downs....

Both of their QBs are horrible which makes it difficult for WRs to play consistent.
If we can get an early TD against them then the defense can begin to just blitz and create havoc.
The wild throws I saw T. Jackson forcing this week for ints makes me think Cary Williams could get his 1st in this game.

You're right , it really shouldn't be much of an issue. I just wanted to make a crack about Joe's sleepy look.

Jet lag affects individuals differently , though. "Morning birds" have more of a problem going west than "night owls" , and vice-versa going east. Most people are somewhere in the middle. As an extreme night owl myself , flying east a few time zones fogs my brain something fierce.

As "pros" , they should start gradually adjusting their sleep schedules this week , even before leaving on Friday , so they don't have to make all the adjustment in one or two nights. Without prior adjustment , the general rule is it takes one day at the new locale per time zone crossed getting there to fully adapt.

After the big win yesterday I wouldn't be surprised if some of our pros do some extra celebrating this week , leaving sleep schedules even more disrupted prior to the trip.

I expect the team as a whole to be fine , but it wouldn't be surprising for a few individuals to have subprime performances that are at least partially attributable to lag.

I wonder if we'll see more of David Reed at WR in Seattle. Joe tossed one his way yesterday , so I guess he must be doing well in practice. He could be a valuable new weapon , at least until Evans returns , and it gives Seattle an unknown they have to consider when gameplanning us.

actually we don´t even now anything about d.reed as he only got very few chances due to his injuries on offense. i think they really like him (coaches) as harbs said last year he expects him to be a superstar on this team. as of right now they should be thrown in the mix as often as possible. that also includes tandon doss. i hope we get a chance to see what he can do this year.

i also hope they don´t take the hawks as easy as the jags. they gotta learn out of that one...

Our rookie receivers have played better than some veterans.
Ravens are very lucky to have Torrey, LaQuan, Reed
But
They have room to improve and hopefully by playoff they will be at full speed.

Pitta has shown great hands compared to Dickson.

I hope Cam does not overlook the Seahawks like he did the Jag's and Card's.
Just because they have a loosing record doesn't mean the Ravens should start playing around.
Finish them and don't let them get up.

The Ravens have difficult games ahead without loosing an easy game.
They should go unbeaten the rest of the year.

The game is at 4:15. Not like it is 1 PM here making it a 10 AM game in Seattle.

This should not be an issue. People worry about jet lag too much. The only time that is an issue is the friggin "red eye" flights with babies screaming on the plane and sitting next to a fat guy in coach. Blast you Continental!!! At any rate, these guys don't fly like us little people. They should be fine.

I am surprised to see Seattle's defense is so stout against the run. This should be a good test for our o-line and we gotta get Ray and Ricky rollin again.

I hope we get to see it here in College Park, I hate missing games. We've already missed two (but I saw both through other means) so I think we're good for the rest of the season.

Yea I had the same problem down in CP, I didn't expect it at all though. If you are in Maryland in my opinion, you should get the game. I think it is when the Ravens and Redskins play on the same network and at the same time.

Yeah, sadly it's freaking Redskins country. The past two years, we've only missed two games a season so I'm hoping we can see the rest from now, onward. I'm just living by that 506 website now lol.

Yeah we knew websites like that, while I was down there I actually lived with three other guys who were all avid NFL fans. There was me as the Ravens fan, my roommate as a Steelers fan, and in the other room there was a Redskins and Giants fan. Sundays were always interesting to say the least...
